Done, Lance moved away from the desk. The mist assistant offered the trainee a shrug. "Not my call to make. I don't know any of them; why should I risk my neck for them?" Lance reached out and removed the cup from around Circe, grabbing his sleeve once again to wipe off his fingerprints before replacing it on the desk with his sleeve. It was rather futile, in retrospect. Lance didn't like the glare Circe was giving him.
"Tch. Looks like what I'm looking for ain't here," he grumbled darkly.

The cup had gone still and for a moment, Ryan thought Circe really had passed out or worse. Would Caelius notice if Circe wasn't uhhh moving anymore?
"I see." So he was right to believe that hunters wouldn't risk themselves for strangers without good reason. But then, that was usually how it was with everyone. It was, after all, the wiser decision and it wasn't one he could find fault with either. So having no answer for him, he merely shrugged and watched as the cup was removed. Though, rather than leaver her be, before the winged totem could do anything, Ryan plucked it up off the desk by the wing. To examine if she was alright of course.
"Ah, so you were snooping for something too?" Explained why Lance stuck around despite the risks.

She appreciated Ryan by poking him in the eye with her free appendage. Ladies should be treated properly.

"Maybe," Lance answered, "Or maybe I'm here to prevent you from doing anything. Or maybe someone asked me to drop something off for Caelius." To add weight to that possibility, Lance pulled out a file from behind him and waved it around before tucking it into the safety of his belt behind him. "Either way kid, I -"
He was interrupted as Circe poked Ryan, offering a sympathetic wince. "Ouch. See, this is why I don't touch things. Anyway, I'm outta here." Lance rolled towards the door and opened it, rolling out as if he was on business.

Circe still in his hands, Ryan gave Lance a doubtful look. "You see, I would have believed that. If one, you didn't cover this--" He lifted Circe a little higher. "--and two, didn't start snooping around yourself." It was a mistake to lift her higher, because the moment he had she stuck her free wing in his eyes.
"Owshitwhydidyo--oww!" Immediately the totem was released and Ryan began chasing her around the office. One eye squeezed shut as it watered with pain. "Get back here you!" He hissed, making swipes through the air.
He hadn't even noticed as Lance wheeled towards the door. Otherwise, he might have opted to do the same.

The totem lazily made a few more circular rounds and then settled for perching on the ceiling fan, looking rather content with itself (as much as a singular eyeball could) as it peered down.

There was a lot of flailing and swears. The latter which blended together so quickly that it ended up sounding more like gibberish than anything else. Circe on the other hand was still flying circles around him.
"Hey! Quit moving!" He hissed out, making another swipe for the winged totem, just as she floated up to the ceiling fan. Leaving Ryan to glare after her with one eye. "Don't think that's going to save you!"
Chair! He needed a chair to reach her.

- "Each and every mission report!" Came an unfamiliar voice from a little bit outside. Two figures loomed a little down the hallway, casting shadows into the door. "I can't believe you only filled out two, quick, do you have a pencil?"
The other paused. There was a clicking noise. "Well, you didn't tell me they needed to be filled out now."
"Here, give me that. I'll make something up. Uhhh location..... somewhere in... uh... the Sahara! Time...." They moved a little further away from the door, voices trailing off somewhat into murmurs.
Curious, Circe moved from her perch a little closer in lazy wingbeats, coming to a pause at the cabinet next to the door to listen to what was going on between the two Hunters outside.

Ryan was in the middle of moving a chair when the voices made him freeze on the spot. It was then too that he noticed Lance was long gone. Ah... He had been so distracted with trying to catch Circe, that is was only now that he remembered where he was. Only now he couldn't simply slip out like he had originally planned. Fortunately for him, whoever they were, they paused outside the office door, still talking.
There was something about files and making stuff up and--
--either way, it was his cue to hide.
Or not.
Circe, seemingly interested in the hunters conversation herself, flew down from the safety of her perch and landed on the cabinet near the door. So instead of hiding like someone with a working brain would have done, he crept closer to the cabinet.

"Okay," Continued one of the two muffled voices, "What did you put down for um, observations. I wrote like, that I saw a big thing made of fog. That's vague enough right, we get a lot of fog things out there?"
"What?" There was the audible sound of paper scrunching and a disgruntled sigh. "I wrote that we saw the horsemen doofus. We did go on a mission for the horsemen right? Not Insanity?"
"Well, if you hadn't gotten carried away with that E-Z-Bake oven this wouldn't have happened in the first place!"
"Oh what, so, you're going to blame me now? You're the one that- shhh someone's coming-"
There was another set of footsteps coming down the hallway, enough to send the two Hunters silent. The totem peered out the door, totally ignoring Ryan now in favour of what women liked best: juicy gossip.

The hunters conversation was lost to him. There was more important thing at hand here then made up reports and that was catching that damn totem before she flew off again. Though, in a way, he supposed he should be thanking those same hunters. With their presence, Circe wasn't paying him any mind and instead was fixated on their conversation. It was his chance!
Carefully and quietly, he crept closer. Taking one slow step after another before--
--"Gotcha!" He hissed out under his breath, leaping toward the cabinet and making a grab for the winged totem.

Between Ryan's carefully trapped fingers was one totem erratically beating like a deranged hummingbird, the room buzzing as well, just lightly, almost a high pitched whine. After a few more moments of struggle, Circe finally quieted, giving its captor what could only be explained as a solitary resigned stare as if to say "Well now that you have me, now what?"
Outside a couple of voices were still murmuring about for some reason, granny underpants.

Yes! Finally!
Ryan breathed out a sigh, ignoring the high pitched whining like noise that Circe was making and instead held the totem up high enough to look it directly in the eye. Only this time, he kept it at a far enough distance that her wings wouldn't reach his own eyes. He wasn't falling for that again!
She was giving him a look now. He could tell. One that he returned with a look that clearly said 'I have no freaking clue.' Clearly he hadn't thought that far ahead.
The hunters outside were still very much there--and going on about granny underpants.
What..?

There was suddenly the sound of broken sobbing from the other side of the door.
"I don't know man, it was my first time okay, I didn't know any better, like, she invited me down and was all like 'come look at my minipets' and stuff and I went down and-" Choked sobs.
"It's okay," the other voice nudged, giving them what sounded like back pats, "It's okay, it's here just the two of us. You can let it all out."
Circe was more willing to forgive being handled by some grubby trainee solely on the merit of this conversation alone.
"-And then, she had granny panties, and," more choked sobs, "She made me put them on."

And then there was sobbing.
Ryan had no clue as to what they were on about, but clearly it was something both traumatizing and more importantly, private. Oh the secrets people spilled when they thought they were alone. Though really, some things were just better left unheard. If only the hunters on the opposite side of the door knew they had two eavesdroppers.
As the private conversation carried out and now that she had settled down, Ryan gave Circe a look. As if mentally asking her if this shocked her to hear as much as it did him.
Granny panties... Ryan choked back a laugh. He couldn't wrap his mind around that one.
