Coma!Wilson was totally going to call it. Months from now they were going to go on a date and he was going to tell them he ******** called it and he was going to give them his Good Guy Stamp of Approval. Take note of this, readers. Take note.

Nothing escapes Wilson's keen eyes because he's ******** death.

Lex broke contact as soon as Ami did, smiling lightly at the woman before turning his attentions back to Wislon. It had been brief, and the moment was over, but they'd become a little closer. She'd opened herself to him - voluntarily. Was the queen of cold thawing a little? Or was the king of running actually slowing to a jog? Who really even knew.

"Understood, ma'am." He gave a light chuckle as he sat down, pulling the edge of Wilson's sheet up a little higher.

Ami coughed slightly, awkwardness staining the air. Lex felt familiar and comfortable, but he wasn't supposed to. So she felt awkward, hanging between the two. As Lex went to fix Wilson's sheets, she felt out of place again- back to being the girl who'd busted through the doors.

"Also ..." She strutted back to the chair she'd been sitting in and picked up the clipboard she'd put down. Gingerly, she offered it to Lex. "I need help," she admitted, eyes on the ground. Ami was going to say it was because she knew next to nothing about first aid, but well ... she knew next to nothing about first aid.

"You don't have to take all of them," she quickly insisted, realizing that taking that many shifts would be unreasonable to ask for. "Or at all. I don't mean to impose."

Taking the clipboard with equal delicacy, Lex pulled out the pen Regal took the form of and began crossing out Ami's name in the morning shifts. If she wouldn't sleep during the night, then she would in the morning. "Not a problem; I'd like to watch him sometimes too."

Passing the clipboard back to the girl with a brow lightly creased in concern, he cleared his throat to speak, voice a bit more careful and measured than usual. The Ice Queen may have thawed slightly, but she was more than likely still holding her cards close. "I know Wilson's you friend, Ami, but...even for you, a 24/7 watch seems like overkill." Contemplative silence followed as the gears slowed down in his head, their assumption already having been made. "Did you two...have something?"

He wasn't concerned of putt off if they were; he just couldn't see someone as warm and kind and loving as Wilson being with someone as icy as Ami.

Ami froze for a moment, hand clenching the cloth on her skirt so tightly that her knuckles turned white. It only lasted for a second though, and once it passed it was like it had never happened at all. Like a glitch in her personality.

"No. We didn't," she said somewhat glumly, not giving anything to Lex. Her eyes were hooded, cast on the ground as she recalled her fiasco of a confession. "I don't see how that's any of your business though." As far as Ami was concerned, nobody needed to know.

Lex had been too busy telling Regal that he could balance watching Wilson and studying to notice Ami clutching her skirt, and once she put her barriers back up, Lex would never have even known.

He did catch the slight depression in her voice, but made no vocal note of it - she wouldn't be exactly appreciative of that if it was such a sore subject.

"Sorry, didn't mean to pry. The only time I've seen you so protective of someone was with Kat." He gave a light shrug, a light smile gracing his face. "It was rude of me to assume it was anything more than friendship. Forgive me."

That a*****e grin.

The grin meant Lex had won. He went back to normalcy, and she had to sit with her feelings. For whatever reason, the mouth full of shiny teeth bothered the ever loving s**t out of her. She was a stubborn mule- one that didn't like to lose.

"It was more than friendship," Ami said quietly, eyes flicking to Wilson as though he might wake up at any moment. "But one-sided. He said no." At least now Lex wouldn't be able to spread around rumors. "It was stupid. I told him to forget it, I would move on- that sort of thing, but ... the heart has reasons that reason knows nothing of."

It was an incredibly sore subject. "It ... was stupid," she repeated, "Wilson never once had his eyes on anyone but Emmaline." Ami's own eyes were glued to Wilson, but looked up at Lex somewhat sadly. "It must sound like a juvenile crush to you," she said with a weak laugh. In some ways, it was juvenile. "That's the whole truth on the matter."

Eyes back to the ground. She turned to leave.

Lex felt a tug on his heart, more than a little astonished at just how open Ami was being with him - and by the fact that she'd actually had feelings for the man in front of them. It wasn't that he thought her incapable of love (anyone who thought Mr. Darcy was the perfect man was obviously a romantic), but to like Wilson of all people. Maybe she wasn't as much of an ice queen as he originally though.

Actually, that very may well have been why Ami was so closed off. Pain affected each individual in different ways, the psych books told him, and some personalities closed themselves off when hurt. She'd certainly been hurt by the Horsemen it seemed, and unrequited love - a thing Lex didn't consider too hefty a blow. So why was she so torn up over it?

Things were starting to get a little more clear, but not enough; like the state of awareness that lies between waking and dreaming.

"Mmm...maybe a little. Though, I've outgrown my crush days - I get what I want." He commented, trailing off a little as he checked his phone for the time. He'd be there for a few more hours. "But, liking someone isn't stupid Ami. Emotions happen, and stem from the most powerful muscle in your body."

"I'm a little done with rampant excessive emotions that come from a powerful muscle," Ami chided, "Nothing good has ever come from them."

And on that pessimistic note, she fled.
