The aquarium was indeed startling (it wasn't everyday you walk into a room and see half of it is occupied by a giant water tank), and he could only hope that what Amphi had said was true. The LAST thing he wanted was the tank bursting on him and soaking him.
For one, he was in a golem, and two. He was a mummy. He had no idea what would happen should the body get drenched, and didn't really want to find out.
Taking a seat, he eyed the spookies and tea before turning his attention back to Amphi.
"I know... a bit. Not entirely much though." Sadly, it was the truth. He barely knew what was going on on Deus, let alone what the deal with the horsemen were.

"Well thats good, A bit might help you more then not knowing anything." The mermaid hesitated. "To make a long story short, The horseman started a exchange program for students to come study on their home islands. It was enriching for us, since the horsemen are usually solitary clans and not very open to vistors."
Amphi sat back, trying to think of the details that would matter. "The first week was normal? We didn't face any danger and we didn't suffer. It was fun even. Then the second week came, and everything fell from there. it was our first real fight with hunters. Before it had just been small skirmishes, information gathering on both sides? Well anyways, We fought the hunters, and hunter fought the horseman and students fought each other."
She held her hands out, "It was insane, three factions of FEAR all in one area just destroying our new homes. And then the hunter blew up the horseman islands. Literally...BLEW them to nothing." It got her a little angry to think of it.
"since then, its been war, but from what I hear....The horseman decimated hunters long ago so..." The mermaid rubbed her eyes. "Of more recent things, Hunters were once again attacked at their home base and killed. Killed to gather fear because Medea is crazy and just..." She shook her head. "And those humans don't come back like us, they don't...aren't made of FEAR that can be recalled. It was the saddest thing I ever saw."[A.V.] umg so sorry this took so long OTL

Jake quirked an eyebrow. "...Exchange program?" He too was wondering why the horsemen would do such a thing, considering they WERE rather seclusive. Was this just an act of kindness initiated on a whim, or were they expecting something out of it?
He listened quietly as Amphi described her time on the island, and his eyes widened slightly when she said the hunters blew up the islands. "How in the world did they manage to do something like that?" Explosives? Was it even possible to blow up an ENTIRE ISLAND with explosives? That sounded pretty impressive.
The fact that horsemen had supposedly initiated the first offense against hunters came as little surprise to him. He hated to admit it, but those creatures were ten times worse than halloween students. "It's like a never-ending battle to show the other up." he muttered.

"Exchange program." The mermaid nodded, "Students got to choose two Islands to go to and learn from their culture. I went to War and Famine. War was....War was amazing. I don't like fighting but the way they lived? It reminded me a lot of home. Famine was too dry, to hot....to dark." The mermaid shrugged.
"We're not really sure ourselves? Its one of the mysterys of hunters. They can be super weak....or they can be super destructive! Humans have a way with being creative with the resources that they have."
"Excactly, and they dragged us students in it. Supposedly, some of the first students to be turned into weapons actually volunteered to help the humans. But I can't say that for sure, everything is rumors and lies and stuff." She sighed and curled up in her seat. "Before I came to Amityville, Humans were just things we scared so that we could eat and surivive in our land. Now they're something that is grey to me. Do I help them? Do I not? Do I forgive them for torturing me? I guess I already did seeing as their end game was volunteers for weapons, because they lose so many humans to all these stupid wars...."

"War and Famine..." He paused, thinking. "What were the other islands?"
At the comment of being weak, he grimaced slightly, but made no comment, though as she continued to talk about students and weapon conversion, he found his interest piqued.
"Some of the first students? Does that mean... others that might have been converted... weren't so willing?" He knew Chester converted willingly, and maybe there were a few others, but surely not ALL of them wanted to be turned to weapons.
He picked at a bandage strip, processing the information. "Well... you can't really blame them, can you? Maybe they got tired of just being scared and wanted to do something about it. Humans are strange creatures."
They really were. Heck, he didn't even understand HIMSELF sometimes.

"Death and Conquest..." The mermaid looked over at the student, "They were more political of the two from what I heard, and the current 'Lost' Clans are lead by a death Priestess named Medea." Amphi bit her lip and sighed, "We don't know much about her besides the trances she's put us under and the outright war she leads on humans."
She blinked at him and then nodded.
"From what I saw, there are students that wanted to convert, and then students that were taken forcibly and put in tubes. And killed because their body didn't adapt to being forced to change." She shrugged because it hurt to remember that Arcana had been one of those that had been taken unwillingly. And because of that, Prof. Selene was forever without the person she loved so much.
"I don't blame them no, I can't hate them for it either. But it's like when humans get angry at animals for being what they are. How many times do humans punish innocent animals because they act on instinct? Not that halloween are animals...we just can't help our natures."
"By the way, is this too much information, please let me know when you want a break okay? I understand it could be a lot..." Amphi gave Jake a friendly pat on the knee.

War, Famine, Death, Conquest... of course. The four apocalyptic horsemen... he should have known. If they didn't spell the end of the world, he wasn't sure what would.
"I see..." he muttered, gaze cast downward. The halloween students were one thing, but to be fighting against a mass force bent on wiping out the human race... just how on earth were they supposed to fight against these things? Even with the help of their "weapons", there was no way they could permanently dispatch them. Weren't they like the students, who just dissipated and reformed? And he supposed weaponizing them was out of the question...
He nodded once more as Amphi explained weapon conversion, which made him ponder something. "Say... if students can be killed due to a failed conversion, are there other ways that students can be permanently retired? As in, they dissipate and don't come back."
"Just... to make sure. I don't want to be caught off guard with these kinds of things. SAFE.
Hey, it doesn't hurt to know, in case... you know.
From what he knew, this student, and possibly that broken doll were relatively more harmless, or, not as hostile towards the hunters, but surely not all of them felt this way. It'd be nice to know how to get rid of those who wished ill will on them.
He blinked at what she said next, and gave her a confused look. "Animals...?" Huh, he hadn't really thought of it that way. If animals caused harm to a human, he could hardly consider that as innocent. Of course, the image he had was a bear mauling a person. Bears were totally not innocent.
"I... suppose." he muttered, not entirely convinced. When the mermaid touched his knee, he flinched, realizing she was touching flesh, or well... golem flesh. Damn these clothes.
"Ah, n-no, I'm fine." he replied, resisting the urge to brush her hand away.Nyxtsuki Moon I'M SO SORRY FOR THE WAIT. Q___Q

"Of course, we aren't immortal." Amphi snorted and looked at the student. "We have a core, and if our core is damaged beyond repair, we die. Its hard, but its possible"
"I wouldn't suggest letting others know of that though, Our cores are important..." She clutched at her chest where the core tainted by the tracker was. "And sometimes more important untouched."
Amphi looked over, noticing the time and her next class starting soon.
"Ah It's almost time for class for us! Or if you have one...do you have any more questions hun? I can walk you to class if you'd like..."[A.V.] omg ROFL Close this soon? biggrin
