"There's no reason for you to apologize," Deryk said quietly before shaking his head, "I made the choice myself to try and protect Ceres. to disobey orders, yes. The others did the same. W-we brought this on ourselves.."
And now he wasn't so willing to disobey orders ever again.
This was going to be rough on his conscience. He just knew it.

Kat nodded lightly at his words, taking another sip from her coffee. "When.." She started, giving him a curious glance. "when do the bracelets come off..? If ever?" Honestly? She wouldn't be surprised to hear if they were to stay, what with Caelius being as twisted as he was. Hopefully this wasn't the case. The idea of wearing a bracelet that could kill them, slowly, at one wrong move was a scary one, and not something she comfortable thinking about. It only made her wonder how the people with the bracelets felt.

"They're their til they get off on good behavior," Deryk frowned. Which... could be a long time. He didn't know what really constituted as 'good behavior'. Or at least good enough for Caelius. He didn't seem to think anyone was really all that good. Ever.
"The others and I don't have the bracelets... so.. I guess we just gotta live with the fact we got someone else.. not having to do with what we've done into this mess. Yes.."

Good behavior, huh? That would be hard, if it were to please his highness. They could sneeze, and it would likely offend him. Gawd.. what a mess they had all gotten themselves into.
"You mean.. he put the bracelets on the ones that had stepped up to take your place?" That.. couldn't have been easy for him and the others to deal with. So this was what Caelius had planned. To keep them in line, by putting their friends lives on the line instead of their own. "Any idea when they'll be taken off..?"

Deryk nodded slowly at that. "I got nothing. But Jude is wearing one of those things now because of me... yes," he said while lowering his head. The other death hunter didn't think much of it, but he still felt terrible. "Dunno. Could be long time... considering Caelius."Could be never for that matter.

Jude.. Jude.. The name sounded vaguely familiar, but it was someone she obviously didn't know too well. Though, from the sound of it, Deryk and him were good friends. They would have to be, in order to take his place like that..
As for the remark about Caelius.. she didn't disagree with him on that. For all they knew, he could just decide to keep them on forever, and then trigger the poison when bored. The man was a sadist. Worse than she was.

Deryk just shook his head slowly at that and heaved a sigh.
"Nothing for you to apologize for. Just.. my own fault. Really," he said while scratching his head. If he had just listened to orders, it wouldn't have happened.
"Um.. but uh.. nuff about that I guess. Yes. Um... you and Ryan... holding up alright? Aside from.. being locked out of everything and all.. yes?"

"Still.. poisoning trainees to get the point across still seems a bit.. harsh. Then again, taking a walk in the desert isn't so great either. I guess we'll all just have to watch ourselves from here on out." With Caelius giving out punishments like prizes, it was best they didn't test his patience further. Even if he did still piss her off.
"Oh - Yeah. I heard Ryan is staying with Wilson or something. I'm currently staying at Ami's dorm, so we're doing okay. Thanks for asking."

Deryk nodded solemnly at that. While being sent to the desert was rather harsh, it did allow them the chance to survive. So... there was that at least.
"Good to hear. Hopefully.. whole mess will sort out for you guys at least. But.. never know with Caelius, no. Never know.."
He was a bit worried of what might happen to the two really at this point.

Kat merely shrugged at the comment on Caelius. "Well, he already sent us out for a walk in the desert, so I'm not really bothered at what else he can think up. Though, I shouldn't temp fate by pissing him off further. Even if it is a little fun. In an case, I hope the whole mess out gets cleaned up soon." She said, patting him lightly on the shoulder.
