Alyssia took a deep breath and then hopped back to shore in one quick move. She found that making the effort to turn and walk back was difficult. Although, the first few times she had tried jumping like that, she had actually fallen through the surface of the water. She smiled at him from the shore as he put his hoof out over the water.
"I just recently got good at it. Sadly, you'd have to be a Kirin or have at least some kirin blood in you, like me. I'm not sure any of my other siblings could. Maybe Rauda, but Alex is too much like my father." She noticed her hooves were actually wet, and making a mess of the soft, once dry, dirt around her. Her hooves were not coated in mud, oh well. It couldn't be helped. She often came back from her travels a bit messier than when she left.
"But, I am much more fascinated by the possibility of flight. Is it just wonder?" She inquired about the lovely, sparkling wings on his back. Sure, she could walk on water, but that was so dull compared to the ability to fly over it.

Beat turned to follow her around again when she jumped back to the shoreline. It saddened him a bit to know that he wouldn't be able to walk on water like she could. He could have used that in many ways to get at or away from his brother.
"Flight?" He asked after a moment, tilting his head. "Oh like the birds! I can't fly when I'm all big like this...but I can do this!" He blurted out, scrunching up his face in concentration. Within a few moments he had shrunk down well below half his size and was now buzzing around her feet happily.

Alyssia had known that flutters shrunk when they flew, but she wasn't quite prepared for actually seeing it in action. She had never met one before today, and so far he was turning into one of the most interesting stallion's she had ever met. Her usual urge to fight and rumble with males was totally gone, she found herself acting the girlest she'd ever acted since she'd been a foal. She almost squealed at the sight of the adorable mini-flutter buzzing around her hooves.
"Oh my goodness, you are so cute!" The words were out before she could really think about them. Instantly her mind raced and she got a little flustered and red in the face. Did boys like being called cute? Handsome didn't seem like the right sort of word either though. She hadn't known this stallion long enough to call him handsome to his face.
"I mean um...." She had never quite been lost for words before, but decide to let her sentence fade, not wanted to make things anymore awkward then she was sure they were now.

Cute? She thinks I'm cute? But only mom thinks I'm cute!
The words ran around in his head, causing the now tiny stallion to lose all his concentration and return to his normal size in the grass beside her. His face was flushed slightly, wings continuing to buzz despite the fact he was no longer moving or flying about.
"Y-y-you think I'm cute...?" He asked after a long period of silence, looking up at her curiously. "Does that mean...you like me or something? Like..I don't annoy you or anything? Because I think sometimes I annoy my brother and my family...BUT! I like you too! You're nice and you can do neat things like walk on water and stuff!"

"Ahhhh my goodness he is soooo adorable!"
The thought rang out in her head as Beat fluttered his wings excitedly beside her. What was so different about this stallion from all the others she'd ran into? She supposed he was sweeter then most and she enjoyed his innocence that he seemed to carry around with him. It was so unique to anyone else she'd ever met.
With a smile, she finally managed to speak, "Well Beat, I don't really think you're annoying at all. High energy maybe, but I don't see a problem with that. And, well yes. I do think you're very cute." She went ahead and admitted her feeling, what could it hurt? He didn't seem like the type that would regect her for her thoughts. And even if he didn't feel anything for her, she doubted he would let her down in some rude fashion. Not thst she had those sorts of feelings for him.
Did she...?

The little stallion grinned happily back up at her, his face still burning from the compliment and adoration she was showing him. He couldn't recall being this happy in a long time.
"T-thank you...I think you're very pretty." He mumbled, slowly getting back to his feet. She must really like him a lot then. His thoughts were racing once more as he stared at the purple mare before him. Beat didn't think he'd ever meet a mare that would make him feel the way he currently was.
Was that how his brother felt about the mare he met? What about his parents?

Oh my, no stallion had ever paid her a compliment like that before. Her faced flushed, only slightly hidden by her purple cheeks. She was sure that maybe her father had mentioned it before, but that was a parent. This was something else entirely. How had this happened so fast? When did this encounter turn toward a sort of, whirlwind romance. Or was she just imagining that? She heard a lot of tales about women easily falling madly in love. But, she wouldn't call herself 'madly in love', more 'shyly interested'. How did this even work?!
"T-thank you Beat." She rarely stuttered, but finally she thought of a way to get to know Beat better. It would delay her return to home, but she wanted to see where this could go. "Would you like to travel together Beat?" She wasn't sure where they could go, anyway they wanted really.

The stallion continued to gaze at her with a mix of wonder, sheer joy and slight confusion. Why would she want someone like him to travel with her? It was one thing to travel alone, get lost and still manage to possibly enjoy the time. It was another completely to be with someone, get lost and possibly end up causing more trouble and headaches for them.
"I uhh...where would we go?" He asked, looking around briefly. "It's getting really dark now too, do you really travel in the dark? I just hide wherever I can. There's lots of scary things out here in the open." Beat said, looking back at her again.

Alyssia never really had any specific location in mind when she traveled, unless she had heard of some interesting location along the way. She didn't know where they would go, but that was the fun of it, right? It's not like Beat was following any specific path either. She had to hold back a laugh at his next comment, she supposed there were scary things out at night, but that had never really bothered her before. She was big enough that not a lot of things tried to bother her.
"We could go anywhere! Any direction, that the fun of traveling! But, I suppose you are right, we should find somewhere to rest for the night." She started scanning around for a nice place to settle in for the night. Surely there was a nice place to settle close by.

"There's some trees and bushes and stuff nearby I think...if you don't mind sleeping there?" He asked, tilting his head slightly to watch her expression. "I mean...it's safer there than out here unless you can fight too."
Beat gasped at his comment and bounced up and down. "Can you fight? Like really, really fight? Defend yourself and stuff? I think maybe you can, you're so big and intimidating to others!" He realized what he said and fell silent, looking away.
"Sorry, I don't want to insult you..." He mumbled, barely moving to look at her out of the corner of his eyes again.

Normally Alyssia wasn't too shy about her size, she knew she could be intimidating, but hearing it from someone else shook her up just a little bit. She paused for a second, probably showing that it had bothered her just a bit. She quickly put on a smile though and shook her head. It's not like he wasn't right, and he had called her pretty just a few seconds ago.
"You're fine Beat, and you're actually right. I do know how to handle myself in combat, it's sort of a family thing. Once we have a herd, I've promised to protect it as best as I can." She took more after her father in that fashion, he was stronger and rougher around the edges than her siblings, they were both more like her mother.
"So, where was it you wanted to stay?" She figured Beat would probably be more comfortable sleeping somewhere more hidden despite her ability to fend off attackers.

"I r-really am sorry!" He said, quickly looking back up at her. He had noticed the slight change in body language after his comment and began to feel even worse about it. "Sometimes I just don't think before I talk I guess...." Beat frowned and turned to trudge towards the overgrowth of trees and bushes.
"It's this way, I'm pretty sure. Not too far...and the moon is big and bright enough to see by tonight." He swallowed and managed a meek smile over his shoulder at her. "And I'd love to meet your herd someday too."

"It's okay, really Beat. I know I'm kinda bulky and intimidating, it's part of what makes me great at combat. I'm not sure why it caught me off guard to hear it from someone else." Alyssia seemed a bit worried now, wondering if maybe the encounter had turned sour now. Surely they could get past this. She moved to follow him to the trees he had said would make a good resting spot.
"You're welcome to come and visit whenever you'd like." She trotted up next to him, and gave him a playful bump with her rump, trying to lighten the mood once again.

Beat perked his ears back up, but still couldn't help but feel bad about what he said. He decided for now it would probably just be best to drop it and buried as much of what just happened inside of him.
He fell back after a moment to walk alongside of her, buzzing his wings softly in tune to the few crickets around them. He flicked his tail a few times to add the chime of a bell on top of it all. He couldn't help but love when nature started their own music. Half the time he barely even noticed that he chimed in with it.

He was quiet after that, and Alyssia felt the heat in her own cheeks. She wasn't normally so shy, but the quiet brought it out in her. She wasn't quite sure what to say at this point and instead contented herself to listening to the music being created from the nature around them and Beat himself. She wondered if he knew he was doing it, or if it was just habit for him. As they were trotting along she habit to notice a snugly looking place to stay for the night.
"Does that look like a nice place to stay for the night?" The trees made a safe canopy and the ground wasn't covered in dirt. If it did rain they could stay mostly try and clean.
