The sound of her laughter made his smile grow wider. It was good to see her happy, especially when he looked back on how sad she had been when he first came upon her. Her happiness shifted to him, helping to lift his spirits as well. It had been some time since he had felt happy and it was a welcome feeling now. "You are welcome, my friend." He said with kind smile. They may have only met not long ago but Prism felt that their bond of had grown quickly and that they understood each other already especially when it came to the pains they each felt over their losses.

"Yes, let's keep moving." He agreed with a nod of his head. They would likely freeze if they stayed here for too long. Prism started to walk, in the direction they had been moving, glancing over at Isi to make sure she was coming. He doubted she wouldn't come along, it was after all her idea to walk but he didn't want to walk off and accidentally leave her behind. "Is there any place you'd like to go?" He asked of her. "Perhaps someplace where you think it might help bring back your memories? Or just anywhere our hooves can take us?" Prism didn't mind which way she chose, he was willing to stick with for as long as she needed him, even if it might possibly delay his own personal search for his foal. She needed him as much as he needed her at the moment.

She felt a sense of relief rush over her when he agreed to continue on and she stood a little longer, closing her eyes and allowing the feeling to cleanse her mind and refresh what little strength she had. Then she smiled, opened her eyes and leaped after him. "Well...because I vaguely remember snow perhaps it would be best to explore areas where it can snow?" she suggested. In all honesty she had nothing else to go on. "Other than that, wherever our hooves take us, or wherever you need to go..." she smiled lightly. It was no use planning around her, she had no direction or sense of place. He would most likely have more direction than she would. It was very kind of him to ask though, and she added that to the list of things to thank him for.

She looked at the sky. If it was close to night time they would have to stop soon, but the day looked young still. Time seemed to be crawling by for her, and she told herself again that her memories would not simply fall out of the sky. She looked back to the trees ahead of them, looked back to the long journey ahead of herself. She sighed a little and continued walking beside Prism, occasionally separating the space between them by bending around a tree here and there.

"Where were you heading to before you found me?" she asked, hoping he could give them a sense of direction by backtracking a little. That was something he could do for the both of them. Backtracking was not a gift she had been blessed with. She looked over at him, observing his antlers and the features of his face once more. They were familiar and she was glad they were. That meant she still remembered him, so far.

Prism listened and gave his head a nod. "That makes sense. I can think of a few places where there is snow year round, those most areas it's quite seasonal." Of course they were in a relatively snowy area at the moment, so this may be a good place to start. If they could either confirm or eliminate this area then it would bring them closer to finding out where Isi was from and who she truly was. "We can start here, there's snow here now, maybe we can find someone here who knows you or might know someone who knows you."

He walked for a bit, moving deeper into the trees before he brought his hooves to a stop at her next question. "Well...I honestly didn't have an exact destination in mind before I found you. I guess you could say I was wandering aimlessly hoping that I would stumble upon a a clue or even my foal." He gave a bit of a chuckle and shook his head. "If you want a bit more specific I was heading somewhat east when I came upon you." So far that hadn't given him much progress but it wasn't deterring him from finding what he was looking for. "So we can continue that way after we do a quick sweep of this area for clues about you." He suggested, they could work together to work towards both of their goals at the same time if possible.

With a motion of his head he started off again. The crunch of snow and ice under his hooves filled the air but even then he caught an extra sound. He couldn't quite put his hoof on it as to what it was though. Turning his head to glance at Isi he question her. "Do you hear that?"

As soon as she stopped to listen, she knew she shouldn't have. A sinister motion caught her eye and she looked back at Prism fearfully. "Run..." she said it quietly and seriously, her eyes locking onto Prism's. "Run." It was all she could say before she heard the low growling of the wolves behind them. She leaped away just in time as one furry, grey mass threw itself at her. She heard the howling next and saw snapping teeth and angry claws coming for the both of them. She took off running, letting fear consume her and steer her in any direction it pleased.

Run...Run! She screamed, the fear in her heart strong. She looked back, knowing someone was back there, someone who needed her. But she kept running, she had to get away. She felt pity for the one she left behind...but she had to be safe. So she kept running...

Still running. She hadn't even checked to see if Prism was ok. She knew he might need her, but she kept running, a wolf nipping at her heels inspiring fear. But wait...this was a repeat. She thought hard about the flashback she had just experienced and what it revealed to her. She was a coward. An abandoning, good for nothing coward. She had left someone to die. And now she was doing it again, leaving someone to their fate while she escaped to safety. No. She refused to be that.

Plucking up any courage that she had and taking a deep breath, she turned suddenly on the hungry animal behind her, rearing and kicking it in the face so that it turned and ran back to its pack. She swiveled around frantically, searching for her friend. Where are you? She tried to spot Prism among the snow and the advance of the pack, ready to fight to the death if she had to...if she could find him. She took off running back towards the pack, half hoping that he would be there, half hoping that he had escaped.

Run. The word echoed through his mind and yet he remained motionless for a few moments as he processed what was happening. Isi had taken off and it was in that moment he saw the wolf after her. Just as he turned to go after that wolf he noticed a few more, and they were coming at him. He couldn't fight the one who was after Isi as that would leave him open to the wolves looking to make him into a meal. For the moment, his new friend was on her own. Prism took two steps back, watching Isi's retreat, the grey wolf tight on her heals and then turned his attention to the ones who came towards him. Earlier in his life he may had just let the wolves eat him, too lazy to fight back, but he had a purpose now, two when he considered Isi and he would not lay down and die. He would fight and he would protect his friend to the best of his ability.

He still didn't know how to properly fight, something that he thought would be good to look into in the future, but at the moment Prism needed to rely upon his instincts more than anything else. He kept the wolves in front of him, if one or more got behind him he wouldn't be able to fight them off. A few of them were thin, showing they hadn't eaten in a while. His hooves slashed out kicking at the beasts, he lowered his antlers, though was careful not to give them opening to attack his neck. He felt his hooves connect with the ribs of one of the skinnier wolves and it let out a yelp of pain before slinking off. He couldn't be bothered to track it's movement there were still others to deal with. Prism could only hope that Isi had gotten away from the one who had chased her, he wanted her safe.

Two wolves closed in, Prism reared up, kicking out and bringing his hooves down hard but the beasts managed to evade. Their snarls filled the air. Movement caught his eyes in the distance and he looked away from the wolves just long enough to see Isi running towards him. "Isi, go back! Run!" He did not want her hurt, this was his new friend and he would not see harm come to her. Bellowing out a challenge Prism charged forward, his head lowered, antlers sweeping back and forth driving the wolves back. He had to keep their attention on him so that they wouldn't go after Isi. She needed to run, and once she was running he would follow her, protecting her from their attacks until the wolves lost interest. Prism wanted to yell this to her but his concentration was on the wolves and so he could only hope she would do what he wanted her to do without commanding it of her.

She heard him tell her to go back after seeing him among the ravenous beasts, and knew immediately that it was ridiculous for her to have returned. But there was a voice in her head now that was nagging and demanding that she help, no matter the cost. Don't abandon him like you've done in the past...On one hand she was glad to know something about her past and about herself, but on the other hand it was painful to know that she had deserted someone important. It hurt even more that she didn't know who that someone was. Were they still alive? If they were, they probably hated her. Or perhaps they were out there looking for her...

She felt herself obeying his command after snapping back to attention, knowing her small body would be of little help to him except to fill the bellies of the wolves for him to escape. She turned smoothly in a wide half circle, luring two of the wolves away from him. She hoped it would give him enough of a window to escape. The hungry animals nipped at her heels hungrily as she darted between trees and leaped over rocks and small streams, hoping to lose them to the mercy of the forest.

A yelping, squealing sound and a glance over her shoulder proved that her plan was working. One of the wolves had lost its footing on a jagged rock and had fallen to the ground. The other pursued her, but it was struggling. They were not as nimble or as quick through the forest as she was. "Prism, are you there?" she called back, hoping for an answer.

Prism wasn't sure when the tide of battle had changed or exactly how that had happened but he was extremely when it did. The wolves, the few that remained turned tail and ran, he gave chase for a short distance just to make sure they weren't pulling back to regroup and come in for a second attack. When he was satisfied that they were gone for sure he took stock of what had happened to him. A few minor scratches a bite wound that wasn't all that deep and....where was Isi?! His heart raced in his chest. Where was she? Were the wolves after her? Panic ran deep within him as he wondered what had happened to his friend. If anything bad happened to her while he was there to protect her he would feel absolutely.

"Isi." He called out and then when he didn't hear anything immediately his panic grew. "Isi!" Where was she? He traced his steps back towards where he had last seen her. A crunch of snow in the distance his heart leapt in fear and wonder. Was it her or the wolves? Then the voice came through the trees and he felt a huge relief flood over him. "Isi? Isi are you okay?" He hurried towards her voice and when his eyes fell upon her he blew a sigh of relief but then quickly looked her over for any hint of injury.

The last wolf had finally given up and retreated to its pack. She had been worried that she had lost Prism again. But after a few moments of panic she could hear him calling out to her and then his white pelt could be seen shimmering through the trees like a miracle. "Prism!" she exclaimed, moving towards him slowly. Her legs were shaky from all of the running and her rear ankle had a slightly gruesome bite mark, but otherwise she was alright. When she reached him she gave him a thankful nuzzle, knowing that if he had not stayed behind to fend off the majority of the pack she would not be alive right now.

"Are you ok?" she asked, stepping back a little bit to make sure he was unharmed. She couldn't thank him, there were no words to express what she felt at the moment. She ignored the feelings of guilt that were beginning to grow within her due to the flashback, now was not the time to feel sorry for herself. The wolves could return, or he could be hurt. She had to get a hold on the situation before she could let reality sink in.

"I'm sorry...maybe I'm bad luck," she said, smiling lightly and joking a little. She let out a laugh, allowing herself to relax slightly when she was satisfied that he was not seriously injured.

He could see she was a bit shaken, but given what they had just gone through it wasn't shocking. He was fairly shaken too, but since he was too worried about her his mind didn't truly register enough to cause him to shake. He could see her one leg was injured but otherwise she seemed to have come out of the ordeal uninjured. Her nuzzle surprised her, but in the relief of seeing that she was mostly uninjured he returned it with one of his own. "I thought the ones that chased you might have...but you're safe." Relief saturated his tone. At her question Prism glanced down at himself. He hadn't taken the chance to take stock of his own injuries but he was certain he hadn't come away as cleanly as Isi had.

Claw marks marred his coat in the number of spot, some of which when healed would blend into his old scars. Bite marks could be seen on his front legs, chest and left shoulder but none of them had gone too deeply. They were sore but only a small amount of blood oozed out of them. He would feel them for the next few days but they should heal quickly enough. "I've been in worse shape." He told her with a smile, not wanting her to worry about him. "It's not as bad as it looks I assure you."

"Isi, you are not bad luck, don't think that. Those wolves could have attacked any one." He paused to glance back in the direction the beasts had ran off in. "But we shouldn't stay here for too long, the scent of blood may lure them back and we are both tired, we might not be able to fend them off a second time." Returning his gaze to her Prism gave her an encouraging smile. "We'll find someplace to get a drink and wash our wounds and then we will both need to rest for a bit. Then we will continue on with our searches."

"But...your basket..." she replied meekly. She knew he was right, she knew they needed to rest and to lay low for a little while. But she worried that stopping and resting would cause her previously empty mind to attack her with guilt or another flashback. She would much rather devote her time toward finding his offspring than think about what she had or had not done in the past.

"Prism I...Thank you," she said, lowering her head. She didn't want to tell him what had happened, he had enough to worry about. Besides, what would he think of her if he knew she had once abandoned someone? She bit her lip, trying not to cry, trying not to think about it. Her eyes fell upon the scratches and various gashes on his pelt and nodded her agreement after getting a hold on her emotions. He was right, they couldn't go on like this.

But where would they stay? She took the opportunity to distract her mind and at once began looking around for possible shelter. Further into the forest was probably the most logical decision. Her eyes fell upon a thick bunch of willow trees along the edge of the various evergreens. It would be perfect for hiding. "Come on, let's go this way," she nodded towards them, hoping he would confirm that her thinking was correct.

He couldn't help but smile at her concern. "Don't worry, I will find it one day, taking a day or two to rest will not stop me from that. But in fact will allow me to do so with a clear mind and a fit body." His injuries were not bad, but certainly traveling with so many cut on his legs would lead to exhaustion and then he really wouldn't be in shape to do anything. Besides they were now in this together, he would help to restore her memories while she helped him find his offspring. Neither of those tasks would be accomplished today or likely in the few days to come. They needed to do the smart thing, rest and recover from this ordeal and then plan what to do next.

"You are welcome Isi." He gave her a smile. A few months ago he might not have done much if anything to save himself, let alone another Soquili, but life had changed for him drastically since that basket entered his life and Prism had found himself in more strange and new situations than he could keep track of.

His gaze turned to look to where she had indicated. "Good idea. It will give us shelter but also allow us to see if anything is coming out way." Not that he believed the wolves would be back, but one could never know when a predator or another Soquili would wander by. "It's getting late enough that we should stay the night here. We can start again in the morning." The adrenaline from the wolf attack was nearly gone now and he could feel how tired and sore his body was, a good nights sleep was just what they needed right now.
