Well it seemed Yavin had his wits about him more than she did, to at least be able to formulate a response of some kind. His question might not be the most correct response, but it was a sight better than she'd been able to do!
And now her mother was laughing at them. Not out loud, no, but the older lion was smiling and Lailah just knew Aysu was laughing at them.
"I think you're an interfering old busybody!" she exclaimed, turning around and reaching for Yavin. "Come on, let's leave and go somewhere else," the white lioness told him. Anywhere else would be preferable, so long as her mother wasn't there.

What? Wait, what? What?
Yavin could not have been more confused and embarrassed than he was at that moment. First he'd been told to stay. Now they were going. Lailah was yelling (and perhaps even he thought it was a little mean to yell at one's own mother). And he didn't even realise what all the fuss was about. They'd just been having a walk. A nice walk, yes, but still just a walk.
How could anyone read anything into that?
And then he was being grabbed and jerked backwards and, casting Aysu and Uthuli a somewhat blank look, he turned to his 'friend' and growled. "You are crazy." And, shaking free, he stalked off into the trees with all the moodiness of a cub who hadn't gotten his way.

"Now you've done it."
Aysu snorted, nudging Uthuli as she looked up from watching Yavin walk off without Lailah. She was still smiling but it was all she could do to make it through what was certain to happen next. So she looked to Lailah expectantly.
When nudged, Uthuli took a small step back, deciding to put a little space between himself and the two ladies.

Lailah gaped as Yavin walked off into the trees, leaving her behind. She'd thought...really thought...ugh, if only Aysu hadn't shown up! The younger lioness whirled around to glare at her mother.
"This is your fault! You ruined everything! I hate you!"
With that, she turned and ran off to sulk on the border where she wouldn't have to inflict her bad mood on anybody in the pride. She was still somewhat conscientious of her duties, even if she was in the middle of an emotional breakdown.
Some things were ingrained very, very deeply.

Short, sweet and entirely predictable but painful all the same. This whole conversation had been painful in its own way but Aysu knew better than to take it too seriously, Lailah didn't really hate her for this. So she had to focus on the other side of it, it did seem like there was something there.
"Well, that was interesting," she said, looking back to Uthuli.
Uthuli seemed more stunned by the outburst than Aysu did, his daughters were young and he only had the one set of them, he wasn't so used to this side of parenting-- and he was concerned about the smile Aysu was still wearing. Of course, he didn't doubt she found it interesting.
"Just what your family needs," he said, "Another royal in-law."
Aysu laughed, no longer hindered by caution and politeness for the sake of her daughter or the prince. Her family was so very tangled up with the royalty, but it was only because they were both such large families.
"We're the side that keeps things interesting," she said, smiling at Uthuli and turning them both around to continue on their walk. Her cubs might be old enough to be left alone but perhaps it was time for Uthuli to check back in on his own.
"Right," he said, shaking his head and rolling his eyes-- and dodging another nudge. He smiled at her and followed her back to continue on their own way.
