"I need to get these back in order." He explained. "Though I am... not sure if I can glue back back to the spine without making even more of a mess." Lament eyed his own hands with a frown. He was healing quickly - much quicker than a mortal could, he knew - but he was very squarely in the belief that he was not healing fast enough.
"So could you... ?" it was rather embarassing to ask. Really. "I can tell you some of what happened to make up for it."

"Of course." Cosine shifted her chair so that she could see better and moved the book closer. She reached out to take the glue and started to work on fixing the book. She had always enjoyed Kios's company and would have been happy to work in a companionable silence, though her curious side wanted to hear what he had to say.

"Aejiss was a beautiful place." It had been, in spite of it all. "Well, the part of Aejiss I have seen, at least. The mir'eshu called it Ki'nem. We landed in a desert. Tien really was not too happy about that." Cosine could probably guess why. They had left not too long after Trickery's return from Daelyth.
"We took mortal guises to blend in better. I passed as Tien and her lover's son, and we pretended to be performers." What did he pretend to be, though ? She would need to ask. Or perhaps she already knew ?

"Hmm yes, I can imagine she would not be too amused about that." Cosine narrowed her eyes a little as she concentrated on lining up the spine. "A performer?" Once she had succeeded she stole a glance up at her nephew. "What kind of performer?" Tien had a lover, that was news too, though really she had spent weeks in the desert with the goddess yet really knew nothing about her.

"Well. Remember when you taught me how to do readings ?" There was some amusement in his voice as he spoke. It had been a good cover for him - had he chosen something too close to his own domain, than he could have accidentally given himself away.
And what lament did belong in a festival, anyway ?
"It was pretty fun, though I doubt I was perfectly accurate on them."

Oh yes, that did amuse her greatly. "A common fortune teller eh?" She closed the book and put it to one side. "Well, whether you were accurate or not. The numbers only give suggestions, hints. It's up to the person to interpret them as they will." She shrugged her shoulder. "I assume it was a successful disguise?"

"It was." No one had been able to puzzle them out. The closest had been Kaylin, but the woman had still been caught off-guard as the gods revealed themselves.
"The marketplace in the first city we visited was really nice. Not as big as the one we have here, but there were so many interesting things... I wanted to bring back something for everyone, but they do use money there." And he did not have any, obviously.

"It sounds like a nice place ... a world away from my last adventure." A planet of death had not been fun at all. She reached for another book. "I wonder how money works for us. If we have to have a bit of every currency when world walking." She smirked a little to show it was not an entirely serious musing.

"Taj probably just found some somewhere when we first got to the city." To pay for all the alchool they all ended up drinking before they'd ran into Kaylin. It would reveal to Cosine who else had been with them on said journey, but more interesting would be the tone of his voice as he mentioned Mystery.
Something like longing, perhaps.

Again, nothing escaped the goddess, she knew longing it was a frequent companion with her often absent mate. "Taj, eh?" She afforded Kios a slight smirk. Wasn't he with a goddess of something or another? She really should keep up with gossip. "My brother wasn't there was he? The last I saw of him he was hiding in Mystery's shadow."

Lament did not seem to notice his aunt's amusement. For the better really - otherwise he might just as well have bolted out the door out of sheer embarrassment.
"Your brother ?" Oh, that was right, he remembered now. Someone had told him about a male Numbers, and he had found it curious that he had never met the god - though he could not quite recall who had told him such a thing at the moment. "No, I have never seen him. I remember someone telling me of a male Numbers, but I cannot quite remember who. It was awhile ago." It was mostly him, Taj, Tien, the twins and Asedri, and no one had really mentioned Cosine's brother to him either.

Cosine nodded, wondering if he had got himself into trouble again. "The last time I saw him he was living with Taj. I have not seen him since. I have extended an ivitation to him but he did not reply. Now his memory grows distant. He is still in the early stages of change, stuck between motal and god." She shrugged off the thought. "Anyway, your journey. So, you managed to decieve with your cunning disguise." Her smiled returned, she loved a good tale of adventure. "What then?"

"We had to travel to Tien's old temple..." And this is where things got... complicated. What happened there was not something he especially wanted to talk about - or something he was proud to have done, even if he had known it was necessary.
He stared down at his bandaged hands, and for a moment, could not manage to speak of anything else.

Cosine watched him and pulled another book towards her. "It's okay Kios, if it is too painful you do not need to tell me anything." She did not wish to make him feel uncomfortable, especially as he had just got back. "I am just glad that you have returned to us in one piece."

"One day. I will." One day when ? It was hard to tell. He was still processing the fact that the fury he had unleashed on the witch was his[/i]. He had seen his own power turned against his friends in such an unnatural way, and something inside him snapped, shattered. Now he was uncertain if he could glue the pieces back together again...
Or, perhaps, if he even should.
"...What I can say, though, is that we accomplished what we went there for. Aejiss is free once more, and so are Tien's people. A few of them came back with us - you might be interested in meeting them." Kevin especially seemed right up his aunt's alley.
