Shukri was as always up for a bit of adventure, even if lately said adventure seemed to always include his least favourite activity of combat. To ignore a call for aid just to avoid getting hurt was beyond the sort of selfishness Shukri was known to indulge in from time to time. Besides, he could always use more ice tribe allies and who knew maybe there'd be something worthwhile to loot from the the beast's den.
It was also comforting to see some familiar faces within this little hunting party. Veterans of battle against monsters of myth as they were. Perhaps they would have a chance to talk when all of this was settled. Until, then he listened carefully as Ayo told a story he had known since his youngling days. Part of Shukri wondered if it was really true and another part of him hoped that it couldn't be.

Tahira had been visiting her wind tribe relatives when the message had gone out about the wight. Never one to back down from a challenge she had been more than willing to seek out the others who had answered the call. Now, she regretted it just a tiny bit. Sauti was already colder than her home on Jauhar, Zena was almost offensively cold as if the wind bit at any bit of exposed skin just to taunt her. Even wrapped in furs the young prentice swore she could feel ice forming on her bones.
Ayo's story has her interest piqued, could it really be true? Could they really be fighting what used to be a person? Would it be smart then, would someone mourn it's death even if it was killing and eating food it's kin needed to survive? So many questions and no time for answers.
Kadriye remained silent, observing those around her and waiting to feel something, anything about the situation at hand. Still, she had offered a nod and a friendly smile to Briella, she could focus and be polite at the same time.

It seemed like everyone had quieted some to listen to Ayo tell the story of the Winter Wight. Aminah was saddened to hear that the Wight could have once been an earthling. Poor guy.
She felt her shoulders slack slightly at the thought of having to fight it. Perhaps there was an alternative? Maybe they could convince it to just not take the livestock?
She shook her head, knowing that that wouldn't be possible. Even if it had once been an earthling, there was probably no trace of that person now.
She looked around the group listening to the story and realized that others she didn't know had turned to face their little circle.

Freya too had heard the tale recounted. She folded her arms across her chest, watching the small group converse. They were merely chattering now... no doubt finished preparing. No doubt anxiety would only start to set in the longer they waited.
"Alright. We move out."
The woman began her trek, headed east, away from the sun. Others began to follow her. Their path soon became clear. On the ground, tracks could be seen. They were not clearly defined, having been smudged by the weather, but they were fresh and clear enough to follow.
The group moved for several hours, finding that, in many spots, the tracks would fade or disappear suddenly. However, the trackers in the group were diligent; this was a job that needed doing... and it needed doing now. And so, the search continued.
The sun was high in the sky when more signs began to appear. Traces of blood in the snow, or wiped across the rocks. Tufts of hair reminiscent of that belonging to a Roati or Capramel. Freya pressed her hand against one of the nearest tracks, perfect in the snow, fresh. She crept forward… peered behind a rock, where the fresh remains of a Roati lay, clearly breakfast or the wight.
The woman grimaced, motioned for the group to follow. As she edged around the rocks, the entrance of a cave could be seen, set back in a narrow alcove and well hidden, a perfect hiding place. ”He’s here…” She murmured, hand twisting back to clasp the whip on her side.
It was as if he had been stationed there, waiting for the group. Without hesitation, the Wight came roaring out of the cave, screaming some inhuman sound at the top of his lungs. His rage brought him hurtling forward, and before Freya could defend herself, the creature’s enormous arms batted her out of the way, knocking her against the nearby rocks and sending her tumbling into the snow where she lay, unmoving.
The creature towered over the Earthlings and Alkidikes both and was entirely covered in a thick, grey fur. He was reminiscent of a primitive man in the way he stood and moved, perhaps one covered in an abundance of furs, but he was enormous in size and the gleam in his eyes was nothing but primal. He snarled, baring a set of sharp, carnivorous teeth. Maybe he was a man once, but that part of him was long forgotten…

Keilana barely registered the introduction she was made and stuck to Animah instead, giving off an air of superiority though she wasn't meaning too. She only gave Zuri a brief nod of the head for acknowledgement. Listening to the girl who's name she ...caught was Ayo tell the story about the creature they were suppose to be hunting she felt a cringe go through her. But even then it was too late to turn back and now they were tracking through the area, moving away from the sun and it seemed to be getting colder.
Glad to have worn her cloak and some warmer clothes and luckily she was able to pin point spots where they got off track as she was a tracker herself but she kept mostly to herself even if she stuck to Animah's side like glue. They were soon at a cave, and the Leaf Tribe member felt like they had been walking for days...not hours.
Before she could even get out a thought together there was a creature screaming out of the came, things moved at a blurr as their leader was knocked senseless to the ground, Keilana reacted on instinct, pushing Animah behind her as she then lifted her hammer to have at the creature.
If anything it was a glancing blow softened greatly by the creatures immense amount of fur.

Aminah was surprised at the sudden protection from Keilana. She watched as Keilana launched her first attack, hitting the angry creature. The others were already preparing themselves to launch an attack and Aminah needed to do the same.
She steadied herself where she was, far enough from the beast and pulled her staff out, inhaling deeply. This was the first time she would use her staff in battle. Her hands felt warm through her staff and she could feel the rush of power as it cascaded from her staff. The ground behind the Wight came loose and rushed at Aminah's opponent. The piece of rock managed to hit the Wight with surprising force, Aminah's face in a wide smile. This was incredible.

Shukri swore as the wight appeared from it's cave sent Freya flying. This was no half blind aged beast they were fighting but something far fiercer if smaller. It was time to put his new weapons to use. While still packed the sling of his prentice days Shukri also now bore a set of throwing knives for his defense. Strong and decently muscled as he was Shukri was no brawler and preferred to stay a fair distance from anything he had to fight.
Being mindful of where his allies were Shukri drew his arm back then brought it swiftly forward in an arc. The small sharp blade he'd palmed while preparing flew from his hand and barely nicked the beast at it blew past and clattered to the ground behind it. Only the tiniest bit of blood on the blade confirmed to Shukri that he'd managed to do more than just clip some of the greyish fur.

Tahira had been startled by the sudden appearance of the wight. It had no fear of them or of being hunted and now their leader was unable to help. Gritting her teeth the young Prectice reached into the pocket of her fur lined jacket and pulled out a fist sized rock. Having chosen no path yet and trained far less than a child of Aisha should she was lacking in battle skills right now. The best she could do was hurl stones and hope to disorient or distress the creature enough so that the proper warriors could do their job.
Her first rock glanced the wight's leg then rolled off into the darkness of the cave.

Kadriye tried to summon her magic, tried to remember what Eshe had taught her. Her mind couldn't seem to focus though and her whole body shivered from far more than the cold. She had sisters and allies fighting valiantly around her but Kadriye's own attempts to contribute bore no results. For the moment she could do little more than back away from the beast and try to not be in the way of those using ranged weapons.

Ayo smiled vaguely at the people who had listened to her tale... none of whom had bothered to introduce themselves in return. Guess this isn't the best time to make friends... She thought to herself, turning to follow Freya as they began moving.
It was a long time walking, but nothing Ayo wasn't used to. She did her best to remain near the front of the group, trying to learn from the trackers and still be out of their way. She was young, so unskilled in so many things... so tired of not knowing.
They had found a cave and out of nowhere, Freya was thrown to the ground and a roaring creature was stampeding forth. It was a complete blindside, given the relatively monotonous event of tracking that had led them to that point.
Ayo felt her muscles freeze, unwilling to participate. She watched as others took their swings, the Wight's reactions. Finally, finally her fingers found a large stone on the ground. Move... She whispered to herself, time and time again until, finally, she heaved the rock forth, watched as it collided with a surprising amount of force against the Wight's face.

The Wight roared, muscle and fur-covered arms blocking its face as it was bombarded by stones and knives. It was not hesitant, fearlessly responding to the onslaught.
There was a brief lull in battle and the Wight took the opportunity to take in its attackers. In one, surprisingly fluid motion, it grabbed an enormous log of what appeared to be petrified wood from the ground. It swung at its two nearest opponents, Keilana and Shukri, successfully hitting each of them simultaneously.
The creature stood there, makeshift weapon in hand, and let another enormous roar errupt from its throat.
Wight HP: 66 Attack: Success, Half Damage. Keilana and Shukri Take 9.5 Damage.

Briella had been startled by the sight of the Wight! It was nothing like she imagined at all! At first she didn't know what to do, but stayed close by Kadriye since she had the urge to protect her. She didn't attack at first, choosing to instead study the beast that they were up against. It seemed to attack senselessly, and it was as if everyone's attacks barely even touched it!
She rushed forward and slashed at the Wight with more force then she thought possible, causing it to bleed slightly. She hadn't done much but she was happy to be able to help defeat the beast at least a little! She moved as quickly as she could back to Kadriye's side.

Zuri listened to the story, about to say something when Ayo suggested that it was an ice tribe member who turned into this beast. She didn't remember a lot about the legend, and what she did remember was just stories, but from what she had been told it was an earthling from another tribe that was jealous of the ice tribe. But those were just stories her father had told her to make her stay in the house.
The walk seemed to take forever, but when they reached it she wasn't ready. Zuri attempted to strike at the beast with her spear, but she had no so luck and missed the beast.

Aminah ran to Keilana the moment she was hit by the Wight. "Kei! Are you alright?" She was worried for her friend and could feel tears welling up behind her eyes. People were getting hurt. She needed to help stop this beast before more damage was done.
She cast her water magic at her opponent, but it wasn't as effective as she had hoped. The water turned icy in the cold snap of Zena air, but did little more than irritate the beast further.

Shukri gave a silent prayer to Bergchi as he watched the wight rip a log straight from the ground. The young man was far too stunned to move out of the way of the blow that came his way seconds later. He was hit square in the torso and knocked off his feet and heavily winded from the impact. Broken ribs were a distinct possibility at this point , Shukri mused as he scrambled to get back on his feet.
Body bent double with pain still Shukri's next knife throw was less elegant than the first and more powered by rage.
If it wouldn't have hurt so badly to laugh the wind tribe boy would have as the blade neatly buried itself in his enemies' shoulder. Of course that throw worked better of course it did. attack roll 6 ( half damage) dmg = 20/2= 10 shukri HP. 10.5
