Persephone nodded. "That sounds about right," she said. Granted, she came from the anime fandom, where you didn't think too hard about how things worked, but it was good to know about the magic that infected her own life.
"Um, no, I don't really fight." Persephone admitted. "I mean, yelling and hair-pulling with my sisters when we were younger but like, actual punching and hitting - nope." She coughed and scuffed her foot on the ground. "I don't really fight with people anyway." Doormat personality, ho.
"I'd really like to spar with you, though, I think that's be great because I'm not gonna be able to avoid it like this all the time, right?" She sighed sorrowfully, but it was naive to assume that people hat thought it was okay to send youma after innocent civilians would hesitate to attack a powered enemy just because she asked them nicely not to.

Tsui was a rough and tumble kind of gal herself, one that threw punches and kicks like it was candy on Halloween, and while she might have enjoyed the thrill of the fight more than a member of the White Moon Court really should have, she had come to terms with herself. She was a fighter, through and through, and if she could not defeat the Negaverse and the Dark Mirror Court by herself, than what she could do for her Court was to help pass on what little she did possess to others. And what Tsui possessed was fighting experience. She wasn't too surprised at Persephone's confession, and she tried not to sound like she was belittling her. "Not a lot of Senshi or Pages do fight before being dragged into this war, really. I did, a lot, but that's because I'm a troublemaker in school and didn't take kindly to being bullied. Unfortunately, this war is more like a street gang, or a schoolyard at times. If you don't defend yourself or your ground, then they'll walk all over you." And Tsui wasn't about to let that happen. She had already given up enough ground to the Negaverse, and she wasn't about to allow them to get anymore, or hurt anymore members of her court, especially the young, inexperienced ones. "Sometimes you'll have no choice but to fight. There's a few that are willing to talk, but others are going to come at you swinging. Now, come at me, and try to punch me in the cheek." She pointed to her left one, the one with the three marks on it. She fell into a defensive stance, ready to hold her ground and dodge when the other Senshi would charge her. "Don't worry about hurting me- I'm pretty tough and I've taken a few blows already. Unless that pomegranate gave you superman strength, I should be fine. So, come at me!"

Persephone couldn't help but grin. Tsui definitely looked like a troublemaker, with her shredded fuku. Maybe she'd look tough like that someday, if she ever learned to fight. "I'd love to have that kind of backbone," she laughed, as if it were a joke - but of course all she did was give ground, at least as far as her personal interactions went.
She couldn't help but nod along in agreement - no choice but to fight sometimes, indeed. She hoped that she could mostly sort of...talk people around, but that wasn't likely. "Alright," and then she pictured every fighting anime she knew and shifted into something vaguely reminiscent of a proper martial arts stance. "I'll do my best!"
She moved quicker than she normally would, throwing a punch. Unfortunately, extra magical girl strength aside, Persephone was tiny, barely five feet tall and just topping 100 pounds. Not a lot of force to put into knocking down someone stronger.

It was hard for Tsui to show self restraint, and that stretched out beyond her time as a senshi. Even as a civilian, she usually gave it her all, pushed herself to her limits much to the others' dismay, and she was extremely competitive as well. She tried to tell herself that she was merely training with Persephone, that the power difference between them, as well as their mindsets, were completely different and therefor she needed to approach the subject with a sense of delicacy and patience, something that Tsui, mighty Senshi of Tigers, was having a lot of trouble with. So when Persephone charged at her, Tsui had to remind herself that it was only a spar, that her first reaction should not have been to leap out of her way and retaliate with a heavy blow to the girl's exposed back. In truth, Tsui wasn't sure exactly what the difference in strength and skill existed between the two, but after throwing a Negaverse lieutenant into the river, she didn't want to take any chances with Persephone. Tsui planted her feet firmly on the ground and instead moved into a defensive position, bringing her balled fists up to her face and pressing her forearms together to absorb the blow. She braced herself for the impact and despite the level difference and perhaps her own shortcomings, Tsui had to admit that there was definitely some strength behind that punch. Not enough to force her back, but enough to wear Tsui was certain that she'd have some bruises in the morning. "Very good. You're stronger than you think, Persephone," Tsui said, before backing away and shaking her arms. She wasn't sure if the blow had hurt Persephone or not, but she was already preparing for the next step. "If you're ever aiming to punch the jaw, don't. You'll end up breaking your wrist and I can imagine that'd hurt... a lot. Now, are you ready for some dodging lessons?"

Persephone blinked, looking genuinely surprised that not only had her punch successfully connected, even if it was only with Tsui's shielding forearms instead of her face, but she had actually done damage - if her throbbing hand said anything. Ow, she'd put way more force behind that than she'd thought she had, or could.
She blinked, having not considered what the end result of punching a solid place like the jaw. "Oh, yeah - that doesn't sound like as good of an idea as I thought it would be," she coughed, looking a little embarrassed.
She frowned slightly. Dodging seemed like a much more dangerous proposition, because if she failed it would hurt. But it was definitely something she needed to learn! "Alright, yeah, let's do this," she agreed.

Tsui had to admire Persephone's enthusiasm, and if anything, that was more then enough for the battle-happy Tiger senshi to decide to go easy on the other senshi. She knew that the enemy would not, but still, she did not want to end up hurting the poor girl! But she wasn't going to tell Persephone that. Best to help boost her confidence, little by little, then try belittling her by telling her that she was going to hold back. At least, that's what would have ground Tsui's gears, to know that her opponent was willingly holding back. Still, there was no need to go all out, and maybe Persephone was quicker than she appeared? There was one way to find out. "Alright, here we go. Going to alternate between left and right, and all you need to worry about is dodging. Got it?" Tsui didn't wait too long before she threw her first punch, aiming at Persephone's side and being sure to leave her plenty of room to maneuver about. Once she got a few dodges in, she'd try to pick up the pace, but for now, she moved at a painstakingly slow pace for herself...

"I got it," Persephone agreed. The first punch took her by surprise, and she squeaked and nearly missed dodging it, which was a little embarrassing to her.
Just worrying about dodging was plenty for Persephone right then; she might even have appreciated knowing Tsui cared enough to hold back. She swallowed and kept her eyes on Tsui's fists, dodging as they came at her. She considered it an accomplishment that she never got hit in the face.
It was easy to get into a rhythm, she felt. Dodge left, then right, then left, then right -- the only way this could've felt more "Rocky" was with the appropriate soundtrack. (In fact, she was sort of hearing "Eye of the Tiger" in her head...)

Tsui often worried for her fellow senshi and pages when it came to fighting, but there were times where she was pleasantly surprised when facing off against them in a training session or sparing match. Persephone seemed to be going with the flow and was catching on to the rhythm of her blows, even when she tried to alter the pattern from time to time. It meant that either Tsui was a lot more predictable than she thought, or Persephone was learning to read body movements and able to adjust. Which was definitely a good thing, Tsui thought to herself. Finally, after another minute or two, Tsui's assault stopped, and she backed away to give Persephone room to breath. She wasn't sure if the other senshi was tired, but Tsui was definitely winded, and she did nothing to hid this as she addressed her in a breathless tone. "You're doing very good, Persephone! You should feel proud, to keep up with an Eternal rank..." It gave her some hope that her teammates in the White Moon Court wouldn't be picked off, but still, there was a lot more things that she'd have to prepare Persephone for. Magic, weapons, and the worst part of all, the lies and deception that came with their enemies. But Tsui felt that there simply wasn't enough time to bring her up to date, and she didn't want to burn out the poor girl so soon. So after she had caught her breath, she asked, "You want to continue, or you want to call it a night for now? I don't want to wear you down..."

Persephone had to admit to feeling really proud of herself, even if she was just ducking and dodging. She actually felt like she was doing something right, by keeping up as well as she was.
When they finally stopped, she didn't even try to hide the enthusiastic grin on her face. She reached up to flick some of her hair out of her face, and only then noticed that it was sticky with sweat. "Oh man, that was a workout though!" She said. Still, she accepted the praise with aplomb.
Small victories, a little at a time, seemed like exactly what Persephone needed. "I can keep going for a little longer? But you look exhausted." She said, concern obvious in her tone. "I definitely don't want you burning out training with me..." And then have some big, scary monster find Tsui while she was on her way home.

A tiger was a creature of pride, and Tsui was simply meant to take up that sphere, it seemed, as her pride wouldn't allow her the chance to let others see her exhausted for too long. Especially when the other senshi was so eager to keep going- Tsui was here to help her out, after all! "Nah, trust me, you won't burn me out," Tsui said with a smile, straightening up and trying to disguise any of her weariness that might have been seen. She had been doing a lot of training with other senshi lately and hadn't gotten much sleep, but she was certain that she could handle the task. How could she think to rest when members of her court needed her help? She rose her fists, bracing her shoulders, and decided that if they were going to continue with training, then it was best to help Persephone with her punches. After all, one couldn't win a battle on dodging and defenses alone, right? "Okay, now, try to punch into my fists. You don't have to punch hard. It's more for aiming your strikes and trying to keep up with an enemy that's dodging. Think you can do that?"

Persephone still looked worried; the health and safety of others was always paramount in her mind, and right then it most seemed like Tsui needed someone to be a little concerned for her. "As long as you're sure," she said, sounding a little dubious.
Still, she nodded, shifting into more of an offensive stance. "I think I can do that," she said. Just throwing punches and trying to keep up as Tsui dodged? Yeah, she could handle that much. She threw one punch at Tsui's curled fist, though she didn't put a whole lot of force behind it - she'd have to keep them light so she could keep going for a while, right?

"Of course I'm sure. Trust me, I survived worse," Tsui said, knowing that she sounded like she was bragging a bit but unable to hold the comment back. After a few stabs from two Negaverse officers' spears and various other attacks, a few punches from Persephone wouldn't break her. She was happy to see Persephone willing to try, even if she felt uncomfortable, and it gave her some hope that she's do just fine in this war. The fist came and Tsui didn't dodge, allowing it to hit its desired target and trying to judge her fellow Senshi's strength, though she knew her to holding back slightly. It was a pretty solid punch, despite knowing that she didn't put that much effort behind it, and Tsui was quick to compliment the Senshi for it as well as encourage another blow. "That was a good one! Imagine how much damage you'd do if you put more muscle in it against a youma or lieutenant. Now, again!" She knew that the two of them would be sore by the end of the night, but if it meant keeping her court safe and getting Persephone up to speed, then Tsui felt that the pain was more than worth it. Songstress Kitsune We can see about wrapping this up in the next post or two, if that's okay. c:

Persephone let out another worried huff, but it was hard to stay down in front of Tsui's enthusiasm. And didn't the tiger Senshi's scars show well enough that she'd survived worse than a couple of punches from a tiny teenage girl? So she nodded and kept going.
The compliment made her light up. She darned well hoped she could handle whatever this war threw at her. "Alright!" She said, continuing to throw punches. It ended up being nice and rhythmic, good for practice. First left, then right, timed in her head.
Exhausting, but probably the most important thing she could be doing tonight, in its way.

This motion went on for a few more minutes before even Tsui had become winded, and though it was damaging to her pride, she rose a hand and felt that it was safe to call it a day for both of them. She didn't want Persephone to hurt herself! "Phew... well, that was a work out... I don't remember the last time I sweated quite like this..." Tsui said with a breathless huff, squatting slightly and trying to catch her breath. She hated to admit that maybe she was getting out of shape, or maybe Persephone was just that good? Either way, it gave her hope, and hope was something that Tsui needed a constant supply of in this war. "Seems like each Senshi that pops up these days are getting stronger and stronger... I can't wait to see what you'll be when you reach Eternal rank!" It meant that Tsui needed to go out and train harder. But that was something for another day. For now, she was content to see the new hope off, giving her an encouraging slap on the shoulders for a job well done. "I think you'll do fine... just keep it up, and try to stay out of trouble. Which is impossible... I know! Anything else you need before I head out?"

By the time they stopped, Persephone was breathing heavily and thoroughly winded. But she was smiling, feeling proud of herself. This was something, at least! She reached up to flick her hair out of her face again, clearly excited.
Persephone laughed, a little breathlessly. "Yeah, this has gotta be the best workout I've had in a while! Good stuff." She said. "Thanks for taking the time and effort to help me out," she was genuinely grateful. "Haha, yeah, maybe I'll be really tough!" She said. Or maybe she'd be just as awkward as always.
She squeaked a little when Tsui slapped her shoulder. "I'll do my best to stay out of trouble," she promised. "You've given me plenty for one night, Tsui. Uh, maybe your contact info?" She pulled her senshi phone out of her sash.
