"Nonsense, of course I should have. I bet that's something you don't own." So many possibilities. So many horrible, awful possibilities.
The vampire contemplated on whether she should open it now or not. More like whether he wanted to be creamed right now or not. "Well, as much as I'd love to see your reaction, why don't you wait 'till Christmastival and tell me what you think later?" His smile for once seemed honest, though it didn't last long as a rock-filled snowball was hurled at his face.
Really, he'd almost forgotten Riyo was there. A bad move on his part.
"Take that you sack of s**t." The ghoul hissed as Lou doubled back with a shout. A couple places on his face were bleeding.
As he quickly wiped off the snow, there were at least two seconds where the usually calm and composed boil looked like he might blow a gasket. His eyes stared at Riyo. Stared into her. They said 'You're going to pay for that, you b***h.'
And then, just like that, he looked sad and hurt. Unlike the feline below him, Lou was very good at controlling his emotions. "That wasn't very nice..." The boil reached up to cup his face, wiping the trails of old blood off his face. "I didn't do anything like that to you..."

The baku still looked a little uncertain, but nodded in understanding when Lou suggested that she wait to open it. That was probably for the best. Fearing what was in there, Xiu had been nervous about how she was supposed to react in front of the vampire if it turned out to be something that she didn't...well...
Unfortunately, while that worry had been evaded, another one quickly arrived in the form of a snowball flying at Lou's face. At first, the baku simply sighed and shook her head, figuring that it was a normal snowball that the vampire did indeed deserve...but then she realized that he was bleeding.
Oh. Oh Jack.
At once, the baku's ears and tail drooped, and she looked between her friend and her...er...other friend (?)...with a little frown. "R-Riyo..." She started, looking hesitant. While her friend had good reason to be angry, the rocks were a bit--what was that pitiful expression on Lou's face? If possible, Xiu's ears drooped even lower.
...No. No, she wasn't going to take sides. Moving briskly, she moved to press a handkerchief against the vampire's face, lifting his hand and maneuvering it so that he could hold it against his own cheek. Moving back to Riyo, she promptly removed the bakeneko's damp and snowy scarf in exchange for her own fluffy and--most importantly--warm and dry one.
Her face during this whole thing could simply be described as: >:T

Riyo couldn't help but be a little dumbfounded when Xiu sought to help the vampiric b*****d.
When her scarf was swapped out, the ghoul's face was nothing but disapproval. "Don't have pity for that snake in the grass, Xiu. He's nothing but a worthless letch." Her red eyes were very serious as she stared at her friend.
Lou graciously accepted the handkerchief with a droopy smile and watched as he tended to the bakeneko. Oh, he could play this card and he would play it to the ground since all Riyo could do was fold. "Just because I was 'born' on a pile of trash doesn't mean I'm worthless.." The boil looked at the ground and kicked at some snow as if he was genuinely hurt.

"Nobody is ever worthless," Was all that Xiu said to Riyo, making sure that the scarf was nice and snug before giving it a pat and offering her friend a smile, "I...can't say that I blame you--or...anyone else I know, really--for disliking Lou, but he's not that bad."
At least, compared to all this hunter and horsemen conflict that was happening lately, the vampire's antics were a nice, almost relaxing change. For a while, Xiu had even forgotten about the irremovable choker necklace around her neck, though her removal of her scarf had called it back to her attention. She shivered a little as a passing breeze, instinctively lifting a hand to cover her neck.
Lou earned a sigh and a wry look. "Enough, Lou." There was a pause, and then her expression became faintly sympathetic, so it was clear that she was struggling against it. "...Were you really born on...?"

Riyo was shocked. She really shouldn't have been, once she thought about it. Of all the people she knew, Xiu had always been the most accepting. Hence why she was so quick to acknowledge the cat demon as a friend. But Lou? Really? She was defending Lou?
The feline's tail twitched in agitation the more the baku went on, and her eyes narrowed at Lou's attempt at pity. Adding more insult to injury, Xiu appeared cold now. ******** great. How was Riyo suddenly the bad guy after that a*****e pummeled her to the ground? "Not that bad my a**." She mumbled under her breath, attempting to hold her tongue from spitting out more than that.
Ahah. Lou considered that a win. Yes, he was just a misunderstood soul. Not truly a bad guy. Xiu's command made his lips pucker inward, as if he was really trying to keep quiet... Until she had to ask.
"That's where I woke up. Naked on a pile of garbage bags. No recollection of who I was or where I'd ended up. All I knew was my name because some hot broad told me and left." He hadn't thought to follow the lady. She seemed eager to leave. "Aaaand that's been my life. But I make the best of it." Noticing the ghoul seemed cold, Lou rubbed his chin before getting a stupid idea.
... He took off his sweater and draped it around her shoulders, and if not for his black head of hair, practically disappeared into the snow.

Oh boy...what was she supposed to do now? Looking uncertain, the baku glanced between the bakeneko and the vampire, finally settling for giving the former a hug around the shoulders and a smile that was accompanied with a little tailwag. "I know, Riyo, but...it's Christmastival right? Let's um...try to be a little more tolerant at this time of year!"
All that tolerance would be thrown out of the window as soon as Xiu opened that gift from Lou, but until then...
Her ears drooped a little at Lou's answer, and she only managed a quiet, "oh". She wasn't sure what to make of that, nor how to respond. For the most part, the vampire seemed to state everything in a rather matter-of-fact manner, but it was just so...sad. To be fair, she supposed that a lot of undead students who weren't born here didn't remember anything beyond waking up in Halloween, but to wake up on a pile of garbage bags?
Struggling for words, Xiu opened her mouth just as she felt something warm draped around her shoulders. There was a pause as she blinked at the vampire in surprise...and then the end of her tail bristled in alarm as she took in his appearance, scooting behind Riyo before pulling the sweater off her shoulders and holding it back out to him.
"That is most kind of you, Lou, but you're going to get cold without this." And also, put on a shirt.

Instead of saying anything, Riyo folded her arms as Xiu came in for the hug and puffed up her cheeks much like the baku did on a regular basis. Christmastival. What a cruel holiday for sadists.
In the meanwhile, while she wasn't saying anything, the feline gave Lou a death glare. Carefully watching his moves, cautiously planning out what she'd break first if the boil laid a hand on her soft-spoken and ridiculously patient friend. Yes. She would plan out at least three different demises in case one option went sour.
To the baku's concern, the boil only let out a 'pshaw'. "Ghoul, look at me. I'm dead. I'm cold-blooded. I don't need to keep a certain body temperature." With that, he shoved it back in her direction. There were apparently plenty of benefits to being dead. Even more to being a magical humanoid bat creature that fed off the blood of the living.

Xiu had to bite back a little giggle when she realized that Riyo was puffing her cheeks out, but she couldn't stop the smile from quirking on her lips. Clearing her throat, she gave her friend another affectionate squeeze before pulling away, her tail sweeping the snow behind her.
"Okay! So we're...all going to get along, right?" A pause, and then she turned to look at Lou, narrowing her eyes suspicious, "Right?"
There was only one right answer.
She frowned a little when Lou pushed her hand back, her expression uncertain as she looked between the boil and the sweater. Finally, she hesitantly drew her hand back, draping the sweater back over her shoulders. "Ah, um...thank you, then. I appreciate it. I suppose that it's just...fire that undeads usually don't like as opposed to the cold?"

The feline let out a soft groan when her friend squeezed her one last time, head turning away from the two when Xiu suggested they get along. 'Hmph' would be the closest thing she got to a yes.
And it didn't help that the vampire was shirtless and hard to look at now. if that sun popped out from behind the clouds, both of them might be blinded.
"Haha, well. For sweet cheeks, I will try." The boil held his hands out to either side and shrugged his shoulders, as if he couldn't guarantee a thing. Honestly, he couldn't. Though Lou had a much higher tolerance for Riyo than she for him. This much was obvious.
Getting back to vampire things, Lou smirked. "Oh yes. We go up like dry kindle if fire gets anywhere near us. Very unpleasant." Though his tone was nothing but cheerful.
Momentarily he looked around at the landscape and rubbed his chin. Looked pretty barren out here. "You know what we need?" He started out of the blue, bending over to scoop up a handful of snow and pat it down into a sphere. "A snow creature." The boil then dropped it back and started to roll the packed snowball into something bigger.

Uuh...that meant yes, right? Because if so, hurray for this (albeit temporary) truce! The baku seemed to relax a little, giving a small wag of her tail as she looked between the bakeneko and the vampire. This was Christmastival--it was a time to get along and make new friends! There shouldn't be any fighting or negative feelings during such a time!
Of course, it was her fault for bringing up the bit about fire. Xiu immediately grimaced at Lou's answer, her ears drooping despite the cheerful tone with which he used to describe just how terrible it was for undead students. Fortunately, he soon went on to change the topic into something much more light-hearted--something that the ghoul jumped on in an instant.
"Ah--yes, you're right! Here, let us help too!" Looking excited, Xiu turned to shoot Riyo a big, pleading stare before kneeling down onto the ground. She gathered up a small, firm snowball in her hands before she began rolling it along in the cold, powdery substance, hoping to make it much larger than it currently was.
What kind of snow creature were they making? Xiu had no clue, but it she couldn't deny that it sounded like a fun idea.

That stare. That pathetic, pleading stare. Riyo could feel Xiu's hand reach into her chest and yank at her heartstrings like a child who wanted to play jump rope.
"Ugh." Was all she could say as she gathered a ball of snow as well, trying to copy the other two. The baku really knew how to get what she wanted out of her, that was for sure. "You know. One of these days, that look isn't going to be enough to sway me." The cat ghoul bitched, patting her ball down to make sure it wouldn't fall apart.
Lou, who was busy not giving a ******** and rolling his quickly growing ball in the snow, stopped when the giant sphere got up to his hips. "Yes, I think this is a good size." The boil nodded to himself and trotted over to aid Xiu. "After sour puss's ball is done, we'll need two more smaller ones." What did the boil have in mind? It wasn't hard to figure out if you could read a dirty mind.

Xiu was honestly still rather oblivious to the effects her pleading look, which had become a natural and unconscious expression to make when she wanted something. For that reason, Riyo's comment received a puzzled stare and a confused, "What look?" before she turned back to her snowball.
At some point, it became hard for the small ghoul to continue rolling the snowball. It was smaller than the one that Lou had made, but large enough for Xiu to flop over...which she did, for no particular reason other than because she could. As they waited for Riyo to finish with her snowball, she blinked up at the vampire.
"Two...smaller ones? Why?"

Was she playing coy or was she sincere?
Riyo just... Decided to drop it. "Nevermind..." The ghoul grumbled, finishing up her part and attempting to pat it down to perfection.
"It's a surprise, sweet cheeks." A terrible, awful surprise. Since the ball Xiu had been working on was now big enough, the boil decided to go about the two smaller ones himself. They needed to be exactly the same size and same form. He would accept no less than perfection.
The feline had been contemplating to why two other balls would be needed. Perhaps to shape ears? big, bulging eyes?
What else came in groups of two-oh... OH.
Lifting up the ball that would surely be the head, Riyo opened her mouth to warn Xiu about the vampire's antics...
... Then again.
Sometimes even Xiu deserved her just desserts. "Alright. This is done. Lets throw this thing together before we become ice art too."
With that, the vampire paused in his search for perfection and offered to lift Xiu's snowball up.

She wasn't so sure that she liked the implication that the word "surprise" from Lou's mouth brought...but maybe she was making judgments too quickly. Maybe it was innocent, and she was simply being unduly paranoid.
Or maybe she was just being too optimistic.
In whatever case, the only thing was to wait and see what the two snowballs would be used for. While the vampire went to make those, baku crouched down to polish off the big snowball that she had made, trying to make it as smooth and round as possible. At Riyo's comment, she nodded enthusiastically, her ears drooping as a cold breeze blew past. "Y-yes, I'd like to get back to my dorm after we're done here."
She perked up when Lou approached her, glancing down at her snowball at the offer. Before responding, she first tried to pick it up herself, digging her fingers into the icy substance as she tried to get a good grip beneath the snowball. Unfortunately, this proved to be...pretty futile. Sighing, she puffed out her cheeks as she looked back up at the vampire, giving him a nod of assent.

When Xiu puffed her cheeks out, the boil just smiled. His expression saying something like 'ah, there it is.' Really, he did enjoy seeing her mad.
Giving the baku a pat on the head as she left him to do it, Lou lifted the ball with ease and sat it down on top of his. "See? Look how useful I am. You didn't have to strain your dainty ghoul arms." He teased, looking to Riyo to set the last official piece.
Which she did. Begrudgingly. "Are we done yet?" The feline grumbled, wanting to get as far away from the vampire scum as she possibly could as SOON as she could.
"Done? Of course not!" Lou almost laughed. "It needs sticks for arms, and not to mention a face. You guys should get on that. I'm going to finish what I'm doing."
