Xiu was already washing her hands, eying her cabinets thoughtfully as she tried to figure out what they would need. At the question, she nodded, turning to shoot the reaper ghoul a grin. "Yes, let's start! It's an easy enough recipe, so it shouldn't take too long." Her expression became thoughtful when Terra mentioned Sio--oh! She was that sweet ghost ghoul, right?--and she had been in the midst of trying to figure out a gift that would be appropriate for her when the other ghoul suddenly mentioned getting her something as well. There was a pause, and then Xiu blinked at her in surprise.
"Wha--oh, Terra! You don't have to!" She said quickly, lifting a hand. She looked touched that the reaper had thought of her, though.

Terra hesitated. "But I was going to offer to play for you," she said. "If you do not think that is a good Christmastival present--oh! I DO have something for you!" she said, digging through her bag and pulling out a rather gaudy present. "It is merely something I made in a group class of sorts, and it is slightly overly cooked, I am sorry, but you can have it! It is pretty!" She held out the box with the cookie inside, looking proud of herself. "Oh, but you should not open this until after we have made the treats."

Xiu's eyes widened in surprise. She had simply not wanted Terra to feel inclined to make or buy her anything if it was too much trouble. It had never been her intention to sound as if she was ungrateful or anything of the sort. The baku quickly opened her mouth to reassure the ghoul that having her play would be lovely, but she paused when Terra suddenly exclaimed that she already had something for her.
She took the present with rather round eyes, blinking down at it blankly for a moment before she finally looked up, her lips spreading into a smile. "I...thank you, Terra," Her voice was warm, and she reached out to give the reaper ghoul a small hug before leaning back. "I have something for you too...but would you rather wait until after we finish making your gifts before I give it to you?"

There was something most people hadn't picked up on when it came to the reaper ghoul. Unlike Roch, she was somewhat unsure about her playing--certain that it wasn't quite good enough to be listened to, that there was so much more she needed to learn before she was bold enough to force people to listen to her. The slightest word could keep her from playing--whether it was how they meant it to sound or not. "We can wait!" Terra said. "Do you have someplace I might wash my hands before we start cooking?"

"Oh--yes! Feel free to use the sink!"
Xiu gestured towards the sink, and then turned back to root through the cupboards and cabinets, grabbing whatever she thought that they would need. The bacon would certainly be an easy--and tasty--enough treat to make, but then there was one other person that Terra had mentioned before they had gotten distracted.
"What did you want to make for Sio?" The baku asked, laying everything out and humming thoughtfully as her gaze swept over everything, "I mean, candied bacon of any type is tasty treat for anyone, but..."

"Well, senorita Sio is very fashionable," Terra said slowly. "I do not know if anything I can make is not too old fashioned for her--I am not much of a seamstress, but I do know how to make little things," she admitted. "I was thinking I could make her a flower hair tie of sorts... but..." She felt very unfashionable and old fashioned thanks to her upbringing.

"I think a handmade flower hair tie would be a wonderful idea," Xiu assured her quickly, grinning, "Maybe something in...a light blue? I have some extra squares of silk if you wanted to use that."
Her uncle had given her the extra scraps in case she wanted to make something small, but she had yet to use them for anything yet. For now, though, Xiu focused on the bacon part of the gifts, peeled off a few slices and tossing them into a pan that she had set on the stove a few minutes ago while she and Terra had been talking. At once, the meat and fat began to sizzle, a familiar aroma filling the room.

Terra smiled. "I would very much appreciate it! I have some cloth as well," she said, starting to cook as well. "I just hope I can make something fashionable... she says that purple is the new black," she told Xiu. "But my hermano, he wears very much purple, but I do not see him dressed in black... He would look very much like Austin if he did," she said thoughtfully. "I have una pre--a question," she said after a moment. "Have you spent very much time in Christmas land? I have only been here shortly, yet I have gone a few times."

"I'm sure you'll make something beautiful," Xiu chirped optimistically, turning to shoot the other ghoul a grin as the sound of sizzling filled the whole kitchen. "Just remind me to show the silk pieces to you after we finish this, okay? I'd get them for you now, but we don't want the cloth to smell like bacon."
...Or did they?
She paused at the question before slowly shaking her head, flipping the bacon slices before answering. "Er, no, to be honest. This year was actually the first year I've had a chance to go. I think some of the older students went on a trip once by train, but besides that..." There had definitely been a lot of traveling and action this Christmastival season.

"Hmm," Terra said as she worked. It was pleasant, cooking together with someone. But her mind turned to the Christmas thing. Then it turned to the naughty or nice topic, which brought her mind right back to her father. So she changed the subject. "Do you play any instruments? Or sing?" she asked the baku curiously.

With the bacon pretty much cooked, it was time to start on the actual sugar mixture. The baku hummed quietly as they worked, ears perking up slightly at the question. Despite herself, the baku couldn't help but laugh lightly.
"I like singing...in private though, and just to pass the time. As for instruments...I've played the flute for a few years now. A bamboo flute, to be exact." There was a pause, and then she turned to look at Terra curiously.
"What about you? I mean, I walked in on you playing the violin last time, but..."

"My weapon--Rosita, she is a violin," Terra said. "I have tried many things, though. The clarinet, the guitar, the drums--but I am afraid to say it was not with very much success. I do enjoy bashing things with sticks, but I cannot do so in a way that I can call it music," she admitted. She washed her hands quickly and started helping with the candying work. "I have joined the music club--I believe. I do not really know," she admitted. "It is not right to go to your hermano and say 'I will be in this club now!' and not show the leaders of the club what you can do..." So she wasn't in the FMC after all, right? "Do you know who is in charge of the music club, senorita Xiu?"

Aah, did musical instrument weapons run in the family, perhaps? It certainly seemed like it! Xiu nodded in understanding, her lips spreading into a little smile at the comment about the drums. "Don't worry, you can't be any worse than me. I had to learn for Battle of the Bands, and--" She paused, her mouth falling into a frown, "That ultimately involved more throwing of the instruments than playing."
The candied bacon would soon be done. It was an easy recipe, and with the two of them working together, it would only cost them a few minutes at most. However, at the sudden inquiry, Xiu stopped working to turn and stare at Terra with wide eyes.
...O-oh. Did she not know...?
"Well uh, actually, if you asked Roch...then it should be okay." A beat, and then she gave a little smile and a casual shrug, "He's one of the leaders of the club, so..."

 "Oh, I see," Terra said. They let ROCH be a leader of a club that is to be focusing on music? He sleeps until NOON, he has strange hair, he is a bully, he is-- Her mental rage stopped as she remembered something quite blatant. When she'd gone to the club room to announce herself, he'd been playing his guitar. "He is... very good, si?" she asked Xiu instead. "With his Desiree." (And the way she pronounced it with that accent was a lot sexier than Roch said it most of the time.) "Are there many musicians of high calibre here?" she asked excitedly. "Perhaps, better than him?" She might or might not have been picturing a dramatic overthrow of her brother's status as leader.

"Um...some?" Xiu offered hesitantly, her mind flicking to a number of her friends who played instruments. Whether they were of the "high calibre" that Terra spoke of, she wasn't sure--they were definitely better than she was with her flute (though that probably wasn't saying much), but if Terra wanted a revolt...
...No. She didn't think that that would...ever happen.
Taking a slice of the bacon, the baku worked quick, covering the surface with the sweet sugar coating before tossing it onto a pan with wax paper to cool. "How many of these did you want per gift?"
