Soral looked back at Muburine. "Sorry," he whispered, "I thought I saw something shine."

He gave the other a sheepish look and offered his hand.

Muburine

Muburine was surprised that the other candidate turned back and apologized. Perhaps he made a misjudgement. They were all on edge about the eggs. He gave a smile and whispered back, "S'alright. Wanna pair up?" The tall boy readily shook Soral's proffered hand.

Soral smiled shyly in response. "My name's Soral, what's yours?" he asked shaking his fellow candidate's hand.

J'nes saw a couple Candidates starting to move off, so he headed over to Muburine and Soral. "Best to stay with a rider so the groups can keep in contact with each other more easily. Why don't I join you two, then?" He offered. "You seem eager to get going, and my Hatteth is just as eager."

More eager, the brown insisted to J'nes. Can we get going now?

Thrarothar

The short teen glanced back at the group from the plant he was inspecting. There was nothing here of course. Tch there was Muburine making friends. They needed to be looking for the eggs! Thrarothar got up and shuffled a little further away.

Muburine

"Muburine. Good to meet you Soral. Just arrived a few days 'fore the touching. You?" He glanced at the riders to see if they'd come to a decision yet. With no idea how many were here or if they had whers, if was going to be a delicate balance for the groups. Did they have enough riders to go around?

Question answered. Muburine smiled as the rider who'd given them a lift offered to come with them. "It would be our pleasure. Any idea where we should start?"

"I've been in Trine for years," the older candidate said. He turned to the rider as he was addressed and nodded.

The eggs were already hidden well enough away from them. Still, Rilli motioned for the rider and other handler to follow her in the opposite direction. "It's rockier, we can pretend the eggs're hidden 'round there." She eyed Ralla's small knife. The one she had wasn't much better, but at least she had one.

Rilli didn't bother to be silent in her movements, little rocks skittering under her feet and grasses rustling with the passing of her skirt. The point was to draw the riders away from the eggs after all wasn't it? Hopefully the noise of the dragon moving would help as well. They didn't want to give away their position... just draw enough attention from where the eggs were actually hidden.

J'nes had no idea where to start, really. He didn't know the area, and all the pools made it hard to figure out a search pattern. Not to mention Hatteth's overwhelming desire to hunt made thinking logically at all a bit of a struggle.

Then he thought he heard a sound that came from a direction away from where the Weyr searchers were. Hard to tell how far away it was in all this mist, but it was a place to start. "I think I hear something, coming from that way," he told the Candidates, pointing in the right direction. "Let's check that out. But stay close, we don't know how many thieves might be here, or what they have with them. And in this mist, it could be easy to get lost or separated." He only had a belt knife with him, and one that was meant more as a tool than a weapon, but he made sure it was handy.

As he headed towards the sound, he dimly considered how it was a bad idea to lead the Candidates toward a potentially hostile unknown. He wasn't much of a fighter either, for all that he was adult and in good physical condition. But they needed to get hunting, and now that they were actually moving Hatteth's eagerness kind of made it hard to turn back and ask for help. Then again, he didn't need to stop to do that. Hatteth, tell the other dragons that I think I heard a suspicious sound and am investigating with two of the Candidates, he instructed.

Mine heard a sound and is going to investigate with two Candidates, the dragon dutifully relayed to the others. He prowled along a short distance behind his rider, keeping a sharp watch for eggs or thieves.

She probably should not have been so... insistent that she join this hunt. But shellit, she was not going to sit around while Kindra and Suunath were stuck at the Weyr. Going out for them was the least she and Cepheith could do to help their friends. That and Narisa had not been able to completely reign Cepheith's anger in. So what if they had not been her eggs?! They had been stolen from her home and from a friend! That was good enough to be furious. Narisa did have to admit she felt angered by all of it. And... tired.

Just what else could go wrong these days? That was a question that haunted her thoughts and weighed down her mind.

It seems that the others are all landing now. Cepheith rumbled as she followed somewhere in the back of their group. She flew low and slow, cautious of her passengers. Plexith and His have just landed as well.

We should follow them, then. We'll take the smaller dragons and the weyrlings with us. But you and the larger dragons will have to remain behind. Narisa didn't like the thought of that. But there wasn't much choice either.

We can come if needed. Or scout the skies. The Gold dipped a wing delicately, bringing them in for a graceful landing. She carefully folded her wings and lowered herself as close to the ground as she could possibly get. Hatteth also reports His heard a sound and they are investigating with two Candidates.

Narisa cursed softly as she dismounted and stood beside Cepheith's leg for a minute to compose herself. She didn't like them splitting into smaller groups, but with this sharding mist and unknown area? It was the smartest option. Right? Moving towards the others, she sought out D'lin. "What is the plan so far?" She asked her friend, eying those without dragons. She did not want them to be alone with no way of communicating!

D'lin was more then a little bit annoyed by the sour looks and irresponsible actions of some of the candidates. Now was the time they wanted to assert their independence and prove they knew better then any 'higer up' knew. Really? If he were a cruel person he would wish those individuals mauled so that they might learn a lesson or two - but D'lin couldn't really wish such a thing on anyone and so he'd merely stared at the dissidents until they fell into line..well except for the one who kept trying to slink off. "You there!" He shouted to Thrarothar "You stay with me." He recognized the lad as a possible trouble maker and it was always best to keep such people in eyesight.

He nodded to J'nes as the man accompanied two more candidates into the mists. Splitting up wasn't the greatest plan ever but moving as one large group they wouldn't be able to cover much ground either. 'Hatteth's has heard a sound' Plexith reports and D'lin glanced in the direction they had gone. 'Tell them to be careful, scout only and call for help immediately if they so much as suspect there are hostiles.' a message that the bronze dutifully relayed to the brown. Before he could corral any of the other candidates and lead them off in another direction Narisa joined him and he gave her a smile even as Plexith rumbled his own greeting to the larger gold. Some might not have wanted her to leave the weyr but D'lin wa glad to have her along anyways - Cepheith was large and capable and who better to look for eggs then a gold? Perhaps her maternal instincts would give her a bit of insight.

"I've asked everyone not to go into the mists alone, each group will be accompanied by a rider so that we can remain in easy contact and find them easily if trouble arises. Sadly this mist pretty much knocks out any chance for spotting them from the air, and splitting up will cover more ground...safer to stick together of course but just not...practical given the situation." Sad that one had to weigh the accomplishment of a goal against possible loss of life but sometimes it was required. When he really thought about it..didn't he do that in every threadfall anyways?

Thrarothar

He jumped as the bronzerider shouted at him. Shard it! How was he ever suppose to find these eggs if they kept holding him back? Thrarothar slunk back toward the group. He would bide his time then. Then he spotted Muburine walking off with another candidate and that brown dragon. Looking back at D'lin he noted that Cepheith and her rider had joined him. Well that was much better. He straightened up and strolled back confidently.

The older teen gave a broad smile at Narisa. Double points for him. "Have somewhere to look in mind? We can't find them standing here." Another reason D'lin called him back over occurred to him. The rider could obviously tell he was going to Impress one of those eggs.

Muburine

He nodded about to reply to Soral when J'nes came over. Muburine was grateful rider and dragon were with them. They were a solid pair and the brown eager to find the eggs. The young teen turned as the rider indicated the direction of the sound. At the mention of the theives he suddenly regretted not bringing any sort of weapon with him. That was stupid, but he was here in his roll of candidate in case the eggs hatched. He hoped they could find them first and get them back to the safety of Trine.

Muburine was grateful Thrarothar didn't seem to be joining the group either. With that he went off with J'nes. His eyes hunting through the whisps of fog that rolled over them. He was looking for people or eggs.

Soral remained quiet but close to his group, looking about warily. He was somewhat afraid and panicking would do him no good, but he was protected so long as he stayed close to the rider and dragon that brought him in. He swallowed and walked along with them, trying to see while they looked for the sound.

It would start as a niggle in the back of their minds, a seed of something familiar but that couldn't quite be placed. The seed started to grow, and perhaps one or two would realise what was happening....

And then it exploded in their minds; the knowledge that nearby shells were ready to crack, bringing with it the bone deep urge to hum a greeting to the new lives.
PostPosted: Fri Dec 14, 2012 1:14 pm

Firith moved with the women, purposely snaking her tail along the ground to create a noticable noise, but it was hardly any kind of a commotion. Just a hint, a teasing 'Over here~!'...or was it 'Over there!'? In the mist, it would be difficult to tell. Her amusement with this little game was short-lived, however, interrupted by the urge to hum.

An urge she squashed mercilessly. Mine, the eggs! she alerted, eyes flaring red-orange. They are hatching!

Ralla swore, quietly but profusely. "We've got another problem," she shared with her companions, "They're hatching. Now."

D'lin was more then a little bit relieved when the candidate he'd yelled at returned, the last thing he needed was to be blamed for loosing someone in this accursed damn mist. "We're going to look in this direction" He told the candidate who joined them, motioning in the opposite direction from the way J'nes and his group had gone.

Before they could head in that direction however Plexith's eyes whirled and the bronze let out a little hum, head whipping this way and that as he tried to find the eggs through the mist. 'They are hatching mine, they come, and soon!'

"Plexith! don't you dare tell everyone where we are!" D'lin ordered though it was pretty much a pointless order, it was instinctual that urge to hum and no matter how hard the bronze tried to hold it in he kept letting out excited half muffled hum's now and then. It sounded like the bronze was having humming hiccups. Shards..this was the last thing they needed..but it meant the eggs were close, really close. "there no time to find them and get them back to the sands to hatch..." He told those nearby "But...when they hatch we should be close enough for them to find the candidates..." Shards he hoped they were. "Plexith, stop humming and go hunt something, we'll need meat." And while the bronze was not pleased to be sent away the needs of hatchlings were far more important and the bronze dutifully launched himself in to the sky.
