"I don't WANT a burger!" Zippeite practically screamed when he was held down. "I don't want to be told I can't fight anymore, I don't want to be stuck at that stupid school, I don't want to be ignored, I don't want any of this. Let go of me!" The demand was hoarsely yelled out and his face was flushed with rage and frustration and embarrassment.

He struggled and suddenly just powered down. He was Cas again, in shaggier hair and a threadbare t-shirt that was clearly a hand-me-down too many times, but he wasn't a lieutenant anymore. "I just want to go home. Let go."

Bazzite was nothing if not utterly shocked by Zippy's outburst. Like a child who touched a hot stove top, the Captain withdrew his hands when the demand arose. He kept his hands clenched and bundled up near his chest like he was waiting for a clap of thunder that never came. "O-okay, Cas. I'll take you home if you want... Maybe?"

The Captain gulped down the lump in his throat. "....s-s-sorry?"

Cas scrambled to his feet without an ounce of gracefulness and just sort of stared at Bazzite with tensed shoulders and a wound up stance. He just stared with a ridiculous onslaught of emotions, wishing he could rewind back to when he thought of Bazzite as a friend.

Not even Bazzite, just Johnny. He wanted Johnny back, and he knew he could probably backtrack and have him, but he didn't want to. Because the change in this equation wasn't Johnny, it was him. And that just added fuel to this rage that wouldn't go away, and he didn't even know it's source. He always blamed what was right in front of him for it a the time, and tonight, that was Bazzite, and it just overwhelmed him with sadness and hate.

"No. Whatever. No," He muttered, standing up a little straighter and running his fingers through his shaggy purple hair. "Just leave me alone. Go away." And with those final parting words he turned off to walk in some other direction into the night.

Bazzite was stunned, left silent with an outstretched hand towards Cas. As the boy disappeared into the night and the Captain lowered his hand, he couldn't help but wonder: what on Earth did he do to Cas to make him so angry? Was it something he said? Was it his promotion? Surely Cas was good enough to make Captain - Bazzite always thought so.

Frowning, the boy's shoulders slumped and he turned to begin the walk home, mind racing with what he could have done to lose such a good friend like Cas.
