When the pair had turned the corner, the would be able to hear an odd unearthly screech cry out from the other side of the corner. Such a sound was overpowering, and seemed to drown out a lesser sound of a girl shouting something.
Of course, such wasn't noticed by the girl, who was too panicked when it came to all the sudden prompting from her savior.
"I... I don't know if it can do that! And I d-don't know where it can't reach...th-they're all different..."
She could distinctly remember the incident with her Daddy dealing with a giant toy-like construction vehicle, which had been slow but sturdy and powerful. The one that had been chasing them was not quite as slow. Or large. Or...
Wait a minute...
Her legs didn't feel all tingly anymore. It was quite sudden, and glancing back to the corner they had turned, the monster hadn't followed them. There were several possibilities. Maybe it had run in the opposite direction and gone much further away, leaving her able to walk again. Or maybe someone else swooped in and defeated it.
"...stop... you need to set me down now..."

The terrible noise Sophie heard as she ran was enough to make her want to cover her ears. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option. Her arms were most definitely full, and while asking the girl to cover them for her was an option, it wasn't a very good one. Considering what was coming after them, she did not want to dull any of her senses in any way.
The girl wasn't much help, and Sophie frowned at her words. "They're all different? Just how many of these things are running around out there?" That was really, really disturbing, and she picked up her pace considerably. She didn't make it much farther, however, before the girl spoke again. Sophie blinked, but she did not stop running until she had turned another corner. Then she paused, quickly looking around before settling her gaze on Yvette.
"Listen. I don't know what's going on, not really, but I can tell that it's bad. You can clearly tell that it's bad too. So I'm not going to leave you here. I can get us both to safety, I promise. You just need to trust me, okay? I won't let anything happen to you."
It was a heartfelt speech, and Sophie meant every bit of it. She winked and started to run again, unaware of the truth behind Yvette's words.

In a flustered tone, the girl replied "I trust you! Itisn'tthatIdon'ttrustyou! It's just..."
She hesitated before she let her foot roll at the ankle.
"I think something eliminated the monster..."

"Oh." Sophie stopped running, feeling kind of silly for getting on her soapbox, but she didn't relax yet. If anything, this only made her more suspicious. "What sort of something? I mean, what could take out something like... well, like that?"
She looked behind her, but because she had been running at top speed and trying to get lost, there was nothing behind her. Once she had taken off, she hadn't seen anything. The only way she had known that it was chasing them was because of this girl, and she only had her word that it had stopped.
"How do you even know it's not there? Were you looking at it following us?"

"I-I didn't see what did it! However... I have seen senshi stop those monsters before..." Yvette was more than certain that Camelot was not a senshi, but she really didn't have a true title to call him by.
The prodding as to why she knew about the monster's demise caused her to swallow a small air bubble in her throat. It was really hard to explain, and up to this point she had been somewhat explaining what her condition was.
"...the funny feeling stopped... I-if... if you set me down... I should be able to stand fine now..."

Sophie frowned and looked around again before leaning in closer to Yvette. "Like the terrorist senshi? Those guys? Are you sure they weren't, like, using the monster as an attack or something?" It fit with what she had seen on the news, anyway. She shivered slightly; being the target of a terrorist attack was pretty freaky, even though she was certain that they weren't after her specifically.
This other girl, though...
"What funny feeling?" Come to think of it, she had mentioned being unable to walk when monsters were around. That was strange, and weirdly convenient. But also inconvenient, as evidenced by her apparent inability to walk. Slowly Sophie put Yvette back down, but kept her hands on the other girl's shoulders. "Be honest with me, please. Are you one of them?" That seemed the most obvious answer, but she needed to hear it from the source to be sure.

As she was set down, nice and gently, by the brunette, the darker-haired girl's feet caught to the ground and soon enough she was standing there, just as if nothing had happened at all. Though the other girl continued to offer her support in case of a relapse, Yvette awkwardly attempted to scoot to the side out of her reach a bit.
"...senshi aren't terrorists..." she said even quieter than she had been speaking in before. They had saved her Daddy after he was attacked by a monster. She hadn't been able to do anything as her Daddy attempted to protect her. It was still a very sore point for her. It was the first time she had encountered monsters and discovered how truly helpless she was as a person.
A hand reached behind her long hair and swept the hair which drifted past her tail bone over her shoulder to reveal her back. With her other hand, she attempted to point as best as she could to a particular spot on the bottom of her spine.
"...here... w-when monsters are around... I get a tingly feeling here... a-and... it messes with my legs..." She frowned a bit, and as the other girl asked her odd question, that frown seemed to grow.
"I'm not a monster!"

"I didn't say you were!" Sophie snapped back, frustrated. Was this person outright ignoring her questions, or were they both equally in the dark? She hated not knowing things, not knowing who to trust. Despite Yvette's attempts at explanations, Sophie didn't feel she could trust her either. Which didn't have any effect on lifesaving efforts, but many on whether her stories, real or imagined, were worth listening to.
The whole thing was a headache and a half, and coming after a night of studying made it even worse.
She sighed and patted the girl's shoulder more lightly. "Okay, okay. I get it." This was an absolute lie, but it was better than tossing out baseless accusations or admitting her own cluelessness. "Hey, are you sure you're okay? I can still take you to the hospital if you need to get checked out. Even if they happen a lot, these sort of spells aren't normal, you know." Besides, if they went to the hospital, maybe Sophie would be able to get her brain checked out. This whole night wasn't normal.

Obviously the question had upset the dark haired girl. Her nose sniffled, as if she was trying to hold back some of her emotions (and failing miserably with such attempts). She felt a bit ashamed about how easily she was consoled with simple things like shoulder pats, but she couldn't help it. The brunette had shoulder-patted her and her emotions seemed to settle slightly.
"...it won't do any good..." she replied to the mention of the hospital.
"...I've been in and out of the hospital for the past two years... and... nothing..." Sure, it hadn't been for this specific ailment, but she couldn't help but think that the hospital staff would notice something if it was so obvious.
She sighed slightly before clenching her fingers against the bottom of her top. "...I should get to my bus... I ... probably missed it... but there should still be another bus coming by later..."

There wasn't a whole lot that Sophie could say to that. For a moment she regretted suggesting the hospital, but decided that it had been the right thing to do regardless. Her own actions had been sound, given the information she had at hand. It wasn't her fault that they weren't helpful. She knew that, but knowing didn't make her feel any better, and she doubted that her companion felt much better than she did.
"Which bus? How much later?" Maybe they could go home together, if they were going in the same direction. Leaving this girl out to wait for a bus by herself was not an option, not after everything they had just dealt with. "I don't want to leave you here alone. Maybe we can split a cab?" Anything to get them off the street as quickly as possible.

Yvette had to glance to a watch upon her wrist to figure out the time, then her deep purple eyes rolled up briefly as if trying to mentally pull up the bus schedule. "It would be about 20 minutes i-if I am remembering correctly..."
There was a chance the information was a bit jumbled in her head due to the scare of yet another monster in her life. Even with how many she had encountered in the past, there was never any getting used to these creatures for her!
Instantly after the brunette mentioned the cab, the girl shook her head profusely at the notion of a cab. "N-no... I can't afford a cab... I... I'll be fine... I... I promise..." She was not exactly the sort of girl who exuded confidence, and in all honesty, she was failing to sell the pitch she was giving.

"Twenty minutes?" Sophie repeated, aghast. There was no way she could leave this girl alone for twenty minutes. That was more than enough time for the monster to come back, or another monster to come, or some other terrible thing to happen. Or all of the above. No, leaving her alone for that long at night in the cold after all of this was not something that she could do.
But the idea of a cab had been shot down. Sophie didn't have a habit of taking cabs, but she made exceptions for things like being chased by monsters. She was in a comfortable enough situation that she could do that. This girl apparently wasn't. And if they were going in separate directions, she really couldn't afford to pay for backtracking.
Which left only one option. "I'll wait with you, then. Where's the stop you need?"

Yvette could have attempted to find some reason to tell this girl that it was silly for her to wait with her at the bus stop. However, she simply did not have the backbone to say such things. Not now. She was already mentally exhausted from this whole situation.
"It's... um... back the way we came... and then maybe 2 blocks down from there..." The girl had to pause and look at the surroundings, slowly turning so she could get a grip on their current location. Eventually she turned towards the direction which the brunette had been running them down in an effort to escape. She pointed in that particular direction.
"I think we can go down that way about half a block, and then turn and go sort of... around the area where the monster was... and still make it to my stop..."

As Sophie looked in the direction Yvette was pointing in, she knew she had made the right choice. "Back where we came from? Then I'm definitely coming with you." Just because she had been told that the monster was gone didn't mean that she believed it. Maybe this girl was just making it up to get rid of her. That thought hurt a bit, but wouldn't deter her. She had a job to do, and she was going to do it.
"Lead on," she said instead, taking up the rear, and being more than a bit noticeably paranoid. She constantly checked the area around them, making sure that nothing unusual was nearby, and almost scaring the wits out of a man who was wrapped in a fluffy brown scarf who came a little too close for comfort. That was unfortunate, but at this point she wasn't willing to take any chances.

Meekly, the girl scuttled forward, her eyes uncertainly glancing back to the brunette before her eyes went to the concrete at her feet. As she had mentioned, she seemed to skirt along the edges of the direction they had come from, then very distinctly turned at one corner so that they weren't going to make it within a block of the original place of the monster attack.
It was quiet for a bit, which made sense since the two girls were probably trying to keep an ear open for any more monsters (though Yvette would definitely know of their presence before she heard anything). However, something came to mind.
"um... I... I'm Yvette by the way.. and... thank you for all you've done so far..."
