Serpentine was doing better now that the fight had come to the ground, but only marginally. His side flared with pain as he stretched, struggled, and rolled with Remarque in the snow, and his nose left a shaky blood trail in their wake. He managed to avoid the haphardly thrown punch, but no matter how he tried, he could not capture theupper hand. If he used his powerful legs to temporarily pin down the Dark Mirror Senshi, it was only to find their positions reversed a moment later.

Between his wounds and the Eternal Senshi's greater strength and experience, only one outcome was likely. The lieutenant found himself breathless, bleeding, and furious beneath his opponent--no more room to wiggle out of his hold. Yet, Serpentine did not beg or make idle threats. Instead, he looked Remarque in the eye and silently waited for the inevitable as he struggled to muster the energy to recall his snake. Useless weapon as it was, it was his, and he would not die without it.

Serpentine remained where he was, hatred and pain glittering in his eyes even as he maintained his silence. He had nothing else to say to this puffed up Senshi. The lieutenant's physical wounds and tarnished pride would not allow it, even if he had been one more inclined to conversation.

Slowly, to show that he would proceed at his own pace, the blood-covered lieutenant rose. He walked with no trace of fear to retrieve his fallen snake, even though it meant crossing Remarque's path. He could not stop himself from limping, but pride would not let him do anything but hold his head high.

Serpentine would not forget this night. He would not forget, and he would not forgive. 'You will learn that underestimating me... is a grave mistake,' A lesson that all Senshi would learn as he rose through the Negaverse ranks, as far as he was concerned.
