While Mimistrobell was focusing, she was throwing some pretty good punches, though it was very obvious for Remarque to tell when her mind was elsewhere. "Worry about something when it happens. 'If' is not important. You'll drive yourself mad if you focus on only the negatives possibilities. Instead, focus on the present—the positives sometimes. Like, right now? You've got your jab down pat. You seem like you're ready for the next one—a hook." In the same manner he displayed the jab, he performed a hook for her. He gave her a bit of time to practice this one before moving on to the cross, and then after that, the uppercut.
When he was satisfied with her performance, he grinned and offered her a bit more praise. "You're a fast learner. But all that's for show. You won't know how it really feels unless you're in a fight. So," he put up his hands and faced her. "I want you to come at me. And don't show restraint. I'm not some delicate flower. All right?"

"Okay... I guess." There really wasn't much that Mimi could do about it now. Well, she would try, at least for a while, to keep herself from getting into too many fights. None, if possible. Hopefully with what Remarque was teaching her, Mimi could hit someone and then dash through a mirror or something. It seemed kind of dirty, but at least it would keep certain.. desires back.
When Remarque showed her the next punch, Mimi smiled. She was definitely enjoying learning something new. Somethings new. Mimi watched as Remarque performed the hook and tried to remember what motions he took. She coped it and seemed to get some-what of a punch, but at least she felt like she had the basic one down.
Mimi grinned as Remarque complimented her ability to learn. She knew that learning was one thing and actually doing was another, which caused her grin to grow as Remarque offered for a spar. "I'd love to try!"
She tried to imagine Remarque as a delicate flower when she readied her stance. Her grin slowly started to disappear as her mind filled with focus. It wasn't very often she felt this way, but her determination drove her as she aimed for a hard punch straight at Remarque's stomach.

There were times that Remarque took a blow to get one in. There were times when he tried to do this, and failed.
Tonight, he'd taken a blow for a demonstration, and Mimistrobell better damn well appreciate that when she was in a real battle. Her fist sank into his stomach—and for her being new at this (and a girl)—she had thrown a nice punch. "Nice," he said a second later. "Yeah. I can see that you've got the punch in. But the next thing to work on is defense. If that's your sort of thing. Because you're now open to whatever I've got in store. You're close enough that I could get in my own blow."
He refrained from actually hitting her in the face, but it didn't stop him from curling his fist and hurling it towards her in demonstration. He stopped just barely before his fist collided with her face and flicked her nose lightly. "So you can take a few efforts to avoid not getting hit. One skill, get in get out. Throw a punch and fall back as soon as possible. Or throw a punch and already be preparing yourself to block with your other arm. Typically the punch is going to come from the right, so as long as you're right handed it's easy. Punch with your right, pull your left arm up to block their right arm."
Never mind that his punch had come from the left. "We're going to practice that, now. Try that again, and I'm going to throw a punch after you've thrown yours, all right? Have to teach you to be aware of your surroundings and be ready to react to them."

Mimi was happy that the punch hit; however, she failed to realize that she made the same mistake she had done with Painite. Her pride was swelling when Remarque complimented her punch, but it drained as fast as it had come up, realization coming to her then.
She was glad that Remarque hadn't actually punched her, but the flick on the nose made her feel a little sad. Her face probably could have been broken with the punch, but the teasing move instead of some pain made her feel like she wouldn't learn from her mentor being gentle, but Mimi thought that what Remarque was doing was probably his way of teaching and didn't want to interrupt him. "I'm sorry. I guess my mind really isn't quite there yet. Thank you... For not destroying my fave though."
"If that was Painite, I'm pretty sure I'd be on the ground already."
"I'll try again though," Mimi said as she recalled what Remarque said she should do after a punch. Once again, she got in the ready position and punched him in the pecs, not wanting to hit his stomach again, just in case. When she felt her punch land, she quickly put her left arm over her face as well as stepping back as quick as she could. Mimi wasn't sure how well that would do in a real battle, but at least it was something!

This time, Remarque didn't have a quick counter. The punch left an awkward sensation in his chest, though she hadn't hit hard enough to affect his breathing or make him squirm in discomfort. Keeping an eye on her form, he threw a half-hearted punch in her direction just so she could have a chance experiencing it; the distance she'd put between them coupled with her arm to block spared her from any real damage he could have done. "Good, good," he complimented, though seeing her success only pushed him to try harder to rattle her foundations.
She knew the basics—or, at least, knew enough about them to put them into practice for this demonstration. He would play by his own self-imposed rules, but that didn't mean a senshi would.
Taking a step forward, he threw a few slowed blows, wanting to give her time to react to them. Twice he punched near her face, once purposefully cuffing her ear and once specifically aimed for the arm she was blocking with. She needed to know what a punch was going to feel like and prepare herself for it, so it wasn't with much hesitation that he landed one on her forearm. If she bruised, it was at least easy to brush off or hide.

Mimi was quite pleased with her progress. She could feel certain areas of her body start to get a bit sore, not used to the work out she was getting. Either way, Mimi knew she would continue until either her body gave out, or Remarque pushed her to a point where getting up was painful. Both would be due to her own limits, but this was a learning session after all.
She was grateful to Remarque for moving a little bit slower. The DMC Senshi was both of higher rank than her and more than likely older, so there was more than enough strength to take her out. Mimi managed to block one of the punches, but with her mind focusing more on one side, Remarque's punch near her ear scared her a little. Taking a step back, she let herself catch her breath.
"Thank goodness you were not actually hitting me on that side... That definitely would have left a mark as well as a bit of a headache." She laughed nervously. There was no doubt she was learning something today, but there was still an uneasy feeling, worried about the bad things that could happen if she didn't learn to fight and defend herself well enough.
"Having a hard time imagining things that could happen to me if I don't learn how to defend and fight properly..."

Remarque just laughed. "Good. That fear might just be what keeps you alive. People today are desensitized to a lot of things. Sometimes it just takes a good fight to get back into those animal instincts everyone's gotten so used to repressing."
He knew he was a good hit; there wasn't really any doubt about it. It was partially arrogance and extreme confidence in himself, but he liked to think he had enough evidence to back himself up. "You holding up all right, or do you want to call it quits for tonight? We can meet up again some other time if you need to take a break. Which isn't always a bad thing," he insisted, not wanting her to think that he was taunting her. Even if he was, just a little. "Better to step back before you hurt yourself then to hurt yourself and be useless to everyone. Are you feeling sore? Learned something, at least?"

"I don't know if I want to feel those animal instincts again," she said nervously. Mimi could still remember the feeling she had when she was choking that page. She knew that it was kill or be killed eventually, but that wasn't what scared her. "Do you like those instincts? Do you think you could kill if you had to? Would you... like it?"
Mimi started to have questions running around in her mind. She wanted to get back to concentrating, but slowly, she was realizing that there was no way. She let out a huge sigh and closed her eyes. Taking deep breaths, she tried and steady her thoughts. "I think my body can handle more, but... Mentally I'm still kind of not feeling too well..."
"I've definitely learned a lot from you tonight. Thank you, for spending so much time helping me." Mimi flashed him with a smile. "I think I'm more worried about my mental health after a while. Do you have any help for that? I know you told me to not worry about things until it happens, but maybe stuff to clear my mind?"

Remarque wasn't the sort of person who ever had to deal with mental problems. A part of him had been sort of detached from that realm—for a long time. Some of his relationships felt forced, some actions were just a replication of what he knew was societal norm. Sometimes he did what he had to do just to fit in.
It had either helped or hurt him; he didn't scare easily, but he didn't feel easily, either. Did he like raw, primal instincts? …Not really, no. They were empowering, but weak. A man who couldn't control himself couldn't really control anything. Could he kill if he had to?
…Yes. If he had to, there was no question about it. In the end, he would do all that was necessary, if only properly provoked.
Would he like it? That was another story entirely. Death—killing—had never been on his list of things to participate in. If he killed someone, it was out of necessity, not pleasure. He might not have been all there, but he wasn't that far detached from humanity.
"It was a pleasure, Mimistrobell," keeping the answers to her questions to himself. "Mental health is health all the same. What are you looking for, to clear your mind? Are you thinking a shrink or a more…herbal remedy?" Of which neither he had any advice for, but he'd offer to help in whatever way he could.

"Hm... I don't think it would be a good idea to bring up me seeing a shrink. My parents raised me to be 'good', and well, I'm pretty sure they're going to sense something is different and well, not 'good' anymore." She paused, thinking. What was she expecting? There was too much
Mimi didn't want to probe Remarque for any more answers to her questions. He had done a lot for her already tonight, and he deserved to have time to himself as well. "I'm okay though... At least for now," she told him as smiled. Deep down, she felt like no one could help her figure out the feeling, and as Remarque told her earlier, she'd deal with it when it came to it.
"Well, I think we both deserve a rest. Maybe you more than me since you're the teacher." She let out a slight laugh, trying to lighten the mood after the talk about killing and mental health.

Though he didn't laugh, Remarque at least cracked a grin. "Maybe. But you did a good job, so you made my job easier. Take it easy, rest up. If you change your mind on that shrink thing, though, let me know. We'll figure something out. Your parents don't have to know. If you need secrecy, I'm sure we can work something out. Just don't let it eat you up."
She'd be of no use to him or the Court if she was consumed by her inner demons, though it wouldn’t serve either of them well if they just stood around worrying about the possibilities of the future. If it came up again, they'd figure it out then. If it didn't come up, they could just bury it and focus their energy on more important aspects—like winning this war.
"Anyway, that all said and done, I'll see you around. Give me a ring on the compact if you need to get in contact with me, I'll be available for you. For now, just have a good night, take care of yourself."

"Haha. I'll make you proud someday, hopefully," Mimi grinned back at him. "I'm not sure if I'll ever need a shrink, but you'll most likely be the first person I turned to." She nodded in agreement with her thought.
She ran over and gave Remarque a quick hug. Even though their meetings have been rather short and filled with fighting, Mimi was starting to see him as a brother figure since she was an only child anyways. It was a reassuring thought in the war since Mimi knew she had people she could depend on.
"It has been a wonderful evening. I'm thankful for everything you've done tonight, and I'll be sure to contact you if I need something." She smiled and waved at him before disappearing towards the nearest mirror.Kyuseisha no Hikari (( My last post babe! <3 Thank for RPing with me :3 ))
