"Ya just...stay down!" He agreed with Mort, but mostly because he thought if she did at least she would be spared any further attacks.
Unfortunately for Alex, he was wrong, and he could only witness in horror as the shadow monster dared to attack a ghoul who was not only down but was proclaiming to be dying! How completely jacked up was that?
The zomboils rage was building, as he stumbled after the black form, barely even noticing that Belladonna was doing just fine at taking care of herself, really. He tackled the shadow, attempting to drive it into the ground, though it turned as he approached and gave him a good hit before both the zomboil and it were crashing into the rocky terrain.
And then it just...disappeared!
The zomboil struggled up to his feet, his stance unsteady, his hair all disheveled and his clothing covered in a film of dust that he idly began to brush off with his hands, not that it really did any good.
"We should probably move in case more of these things show up." He glanced to the other two, waiting for them both to get moving so they could continue on.

With the monster gone without further ado, Mort gave a quick nod to Alex for his deft dispatching and hurried to the witch's side to help her up. "No dying allowed," he told her. "N-N-Not today, mkay? Or any day. No dying allowed, either've you." He shot them both a squinty look to show his seriousness about this. OT3 is not allowed to die alright? Alright.
Thus did Mort nod again at Alex's advice and start them back on the path to get out of the area, though it wasn't long before the mountain turned a sharper degree up. Jack damn it . . . The zomboil winced and stopped several paces up this new road; the angle was not the best at keeping balance on. "Mrrrr . . . wish book had been more specific a-about what we needed . . ."

"Fiiiiiiine." Belladonna nearly whined as she slapped her hands in the offered one of Mort's. Quick as she could she hauled herself up and dusted herself off from the dirt she'd surely rolled around in. This was a mountain after all, and climbing it or not, she had to look at least somewhat presentable. The squinty eyed look was somewhat returned before Belladonna hastened after the two zomboils only to find... The actual climbing began now. The witch heaved a sigh, glared at the hill and then began the assent. Oddly enough it wasn't as hard as she expected and felt much more like a light jog. An invigorating, fun jog, actually! In no time at all Belladonna had reached the top of the hill and once struck a pose. Pink eyes flashed to both left and right of her and found... She was posing solo.
A whirl brought her back around as the witch peered down the hill. Still below was Mort and Alexander too. Air free of rotten stench was pulled into her lungs before she bellowed down with a few jumps in the air and a wave of her hands: "WHOOO!! ZOMBROS FOR THE WIN! C'MON ROCKIN' DEAD, SHOW ME HOW ALIVE YOU REALLY ARE!" Yes, yes Belladonna was your new cheerleader Team OT3. You're welcome.

And now it was time to climb mountains! Alexander shuffled along after the other two, kicking up dust as he went, glad to see that both Belladonna and Mort had escaped from the fight relatively unscathed.
And so the ascent began, and Alexander being Alexander was actually not in the biggest of hurries. He had trouble walking on level ground at any kind of accelerated pace. Going up a steady incline? Nope, this was going to take some time.
Even the shouted cheers from a certain over exuberant Reaper couldn't make Alex go any faster.

Relatively indeed. Jack, though, he disliked climbing so very, very much. Mort was happy Bells had raced up the hill with absolutely no difficulty (and had quickly gotten over his bro's stench), but ughhhhhhhhhhh.
Still, her cheer was enough to get him going a little more, a somewhat brisk walk that made him wince. "Sh-Shouldn't you heal self just in case?" he called out as a suggestion. "s'good preaution n' all." And a good way to pass the time because zombies were gonna be zombies.

Alexander continued at his fairly steady amble, though at some point he realized that he was actually feeling quite hungry and could stand to do with a snack. So, he shrugged off his backpack as he kept going along, brought it around to his front, unzipped it, and brought out a nice big piece of jerky to gnaw on. In fact, he grabbed two and handed it over to Mort as he passed the other boil.
Jerky. Meat. Energy.
Suddenly it was like the zomboil had gotten into a groove, the incline not nearly as difficult to manage as it had been at the start. In fact, he figured if he left the path and used his death grip on those jutting out croppings of rocks, he would actually get to the top much faster.
And so, that's exactly what he did, hauling himself up one handful of craggy stone at a time, until he found himself quite quickly pushing himself up and rolling until he lay at Belladonna's feet. He gave her a large and somewhat cheeky grin.
"Hi!"

"WHOO!! LOOK AT THAT HILL CLIMBING, YOU TWO ARE PROS!" Belladonna had spent her entire life showering people with compliments, so now that she got to yell them at two of her favorite people it was like a dream come true. "ITS NOT THAT BIG OF A HILL! ITS SUCH A TINY THING, YOU GOT THIS!" A hand pulled out The Moon and flicked it out, but she was so concentrated on shouting that it didn't even bother forming in the air over Mort. Instead it fizzled into a bit of pink and disappeared. "Oh what a shame... YOU GOT THIS YOU CAN DO IT YOU-- Hi Alexander!"
Belladonna bent down and hauled him to his feet before she bent over towards Mort and shouted down some more. "GO, GO MORT! WHOOO! YOU'RE THE BEST AROOUUUNNDDDDD! YOU GOT THIS LOVE! WHOOO!" Yeah, Belladonna was boss at cheering.

Mmmmmm, jerky~ "Thanks!"
And then Alex was up and at 'em like a rocket up the hill, leaving Mort in the middle of chewing the delicious strip of meat and "mrr-ing" like a content cat. Was there a steroid or something in this thing? There was a shimmer of light overhead that told him Bells had been trying to heal hi again, but the coffee (probably) was the culprit. But it had been so good. No regrets.
. . . Okay, some regrets.

But still, he had jerky! Jerky. Delicious meat. Yes both this and Bella's epic cheering would get him through. Chewing the rest and swallowing, Mort began his ascent anew, though it wasn't quite as fast as it had been before.
"Mrrr . . . Think m'going on sugar low . . ." That had to be the reason the other two had made it so effortlessly but he was having issues, right? It wasn't any deficiency on his part...right? He wiggled a finger in his ear as if the whispers were an itch he could scratch.

Alexander let himself be hauled to his feet, then promptly went into his backpack for some more jerky.
Tearing off a strip with his teeth, he also leaned forward to have a look down the mountain.
"Wooooo, go Mort~~"
Alex was less boss at fearleading then Belladonna.

Something Alex was not good at that ghouls notoriously were? DISAPPOINT, WIFE.
Mort gave a small thumbs up in his bro's direction before continuing his journey. Jack, scaling things was hard, Death Grip or not. He was just glad more shadow creatures weren't hitting them while they waited on him.

Slowly, though, the rocks were starting to bite into his palm. Mort wasn't sure what it was affecting his Fear shield so - normally endurance wasn't an issue at all. Maybe he was faulty -
No. No, Jack dammit, he was not going to mope about that when they were in the middle of a quest! So Mort redoubled his efforts and clambered forward and up, flopping onto his back as well when, miraculously, he reached the top as well. "Mrrr . . . sugar high g-gone . . .But m'here. Whoo." Just let him lie there for a little bit okay, that was a trek that shouldn't have taken so much out of him.

Wordless cheers greeted Mort as he flopped onto the top of the hill as Belladonna jumped up and down around him. For a few jumps she grabbed Alexander's hands so that they mimicked an odd dance around Mort before she let go to dramatically flop down next to him. "That was marvelous, darling. You did splendidly." She told him with a kiss to his forehead. Hopefully that would be enough to help get him up as she grabbed one of his hands and clamored to her feet, tugging him up with her. "We should be pretty close now, right?" Maybe Mort's sugar high was gone, but Belladonna's certainly was not. She bounced on her feet as she pulled out a bandage from her bag and wrapped it around one of Mort's hands. She tied it off with a bow, pressed a kiss to his palm and whirled to face their path. "We're so close! Eeee, let's keep going! We're doing so well!"

"Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay~" It was probably the most enthusiastic Alexander was going to get, though he was glad to see that his zombro had managed to join them at that the top. For a while there it had looked like things were going a little shaky for the other boil, and he fervently hoped that it had nothing to do with his current affliction. However, Belladonna made sure that Alexander had a good jump around and he couldn't help but chuckle a bit, getting completely caught up in her contagious excitement.
But once she let go of his hands he went back to his usual slouched over and care free stance, taking a chance to shuffle around and give them their couple moment.
As he had a look around their current position, he idly fiddled with a couple of the slashes in his his shirt, and also noted with some dissatisfaction that a few of the stitches along his arm had popped, either during the climb or more likely during their battle with the shadowy beast thing. He let his backpack slide down again so that he could dig out a needle and thread, taking a little bit of time for some quick repairs to his person.

"Mrrrr~" Tired from the climb or not, Mort could still smile at her attentions and eventually was dragged back on his feet, a little better than before but still able to feel where the shadow creature had slammed him and the rocks had bitten. When she had finished wrapping his hand he had clutched hers long enough to motion her to stop for a moment. with the caffeine buzz mostly gone it was easy to concentrate his Fear, and with a little smile he managed to gather enough energy to feed her way that the shock wasn't unpleasant, but invigorating. Like the witch needed it with her natural peep, but it was his way of saying thanks.
Back on his feet, Mort waited for Alex to finish his stitching and gave him a light shoulder tap with just the hint of that selfsame healing spark - to top off a job well done~
"A-Alright, looks like final leg've journey is up ahead," he said as they made their way onward, balling a fit and relaxing it several times to test the bandages. The further up they went, the more Mort feared they would have to worry about another sharp incline. But no, something worse awaited them when the path leveled out.
Lava. An entire pool of hot, bubbling lava. There were craters of solid land still available as stepping stones throughout, but not all of them looked safe. Mort stared at the scene before them and shivered, giving a most unmasculine squeal of horror.
Was it too late to turn back?
