"Ohh, eggs an' bacon sounds good. Are ya plannin' on makin' waffles wit' it, for like a breakfast dinner? Or jus' eggs an' bacon?" Breakfast for dinner sounded really good, and Ofelia was a huge fan of bacon and eggs. It was something she liked to eat whenever she could, along with toast, so there was that.

The teen interlocked her fingers together and leaned her chin on them, watching. "So, the first thing ya need ta do is check all yer supplies fer food, then check ta see if all the cookware ya need is ready an' clean."

"....We could make waffles..." Jason said slowly as thoughts of the golden syrupy goodness of honey drifted through his head, drizzled over a warm sizzling batch of waffles...

"Yes, we will make waffles" He said. Dammit, he was hungry. He then looked at Ofelia, his mind going over the utensils and items they needed. "Okay, er, that would be Eggs, Bacon strips, a frying pan....uh...a waffle machine..."

He began to mumble to himself as he searched through the fridge for the items he needed, placing on the counter the eggs and bacon rashes before searching through the cupboards underneath. "Okay...there must be a pan somewhere..." He looked over his shoulder. "Do you know if there is a waffle iron in the kitchen?"

Waffles were always good, very very good, so when Jason said he was going to make them Ofelia have herself an inner high-five for suggesting it. A simple meal of bacon and eggs would have been fine, sure, but a girl cold always crave something more than just the basics. If someone was going to be making food for her they were going to go all out.

Such was the way of the world.

Ofelia shrugged her shoulders at the question, shaking her head as an emphasis. "Nope, not really. Ah usually make pancakes from scratch, not really waffles, so Ah haven' really checked." She started to tick off the list of places where one could be, where she'd seen different supplies during her baking and cooking adventures, and she paused at one spot. "Try lookin' in the cupboard that has the griddle in it - maybe in there? People tend ta place things fer like cookin' an' bakin' tagether." Back at her home before Deus that was how she arranged things, and Ofelia couldn't help but find it cute to see Jason scuttle around trying to locate stuff. He looked so flustered that she almost wanted to tell him to take a break. . .but then it would ruin her fun.

"cupboard that has the griddle in it..." Mumbling the instruction as he opened up a cupboard underneath, Jason had to get on his hands and knees, sticking his head inside to see if he could find the griddle....whatever that was supposed to be.

'I don't suppose you know what it is'?

There was plenty of pots and pans stacked up in the cupboard, but he was having trouble finding anything that resembled either a waffle machine or a griddle. That was until he accidentally bumped one of the piles of pans, and after a mighty clash and bang as the items all feel out of place, The moon trainee pulled out what he had sought for. A dusty looking waffle iron.

"Okay..." He sighed, one hand rubbing his head where a few pans had hit it. "....I don't suppose you know how to make the waffle mixture?"

"Batter? Yup, Ah do. Ah take it that's another thin' ya wanna learn from me taday, how ta make from scratch? Or are ya the type that the package deal tastes jus' fine fer ya?" Ofelia was pretty good with either, to be honest, but she really enjoyed making things from scratch when she could because it tended to be healthier or she could totally turn it into an amazing mess that worked for her benefit. "Ya might wanna plug the waffle iron in first ta get it nice an' warm, an' get the pan fer bacon goin'. Cookin' eggs in bacon grease always gives 'em a nice taste, though ya can do 'em separate too."

From as much as she was talking about it Ofelia was making herself more and more hungry. A mean part of her willed him to hurry up and pray to all his good things the food tastes good (or else it would have been a waste of her time), but another part was so excited to see how far he could go. He was asking all the right questions and she was trying to feed him hints without sounding like she was telling him too much. "So, how do ya wanna do yer eggs? That is important ta think ahead of in case ya need ta get other supplies." Ofelia looked at Jason and smiled, doing her best to stay reassuring. "Fer example if ya wanna scramble 'em it's best ta have another bowl ta stir 'em up in first."

Should she just get up and help him or just keep offering advice? The sun hunter decided to wait it out another few minutes.

. . . now i want breakfast

That was a good question. "Hmm...well, it might be wiser to just use the packet stuff for today, just to keep it simple." The moon trainee responded as he opened the refrigerator. "Though I don't know if we would have...Oh! Looks like we do." He pulled out a carton of batter, looking impressed. "I didn't think they'd keep the kitchen this well stocked."

Plugging in the waffle iron, he set the carton aside for now so he could focus on the eggs. Much of the stuff he was doing now was fairly simple and strait forward, but now the hard part was coming up. Actually cooking the stuff.

"Sunny side up sounds pretty good." He then said. If only because sunny side would be the easiest. At least he thought it would be, but as he cracked the egg over the side, the egg yoke broke in the pan.

"Dammit I didn't mean to do that" He muttered, then realized Ofelia had asked him to do something prior tot his. "Oh double dammit I forgot the bacon!" Jason made a mad dash for the bacon sitting on the counter, opening the packet up and placing it side by side the eggs. "Okay, there...I think."

Ofelia watched, a smile slowly growing over her face with each motion that Jason went through. It was so cute, like watching a little kid try so hard at something for the very first time in their lives, and even as he fumbled around she could only think it was more and more adorable. He was doing good, she wanted to let him know that, but soon he was...cursing?

Was that really even a curse?

"Yer doin' fine, calm down. The most fun that comes from cookin' is learnin' as ya go." Ofelia got up though, even though she said she'd just stay seated and let him do this on his own, and the teen moved to the blonde's side. She took a wooden spoon and pushed the yolk together, using a little bit of the heat to held it adhere. "Yer good ta use the bacon in here at the same time, Ah like it. It'll give everythin' some good flavor, so jus' relax an' watch yer eggs." Ofelia winked and handed the wooden spoon over to him, letting him know it was okay. "Do ya wanna have me lend ya a hand or jus' sit here an' tell ya what ta do?"

Honestly Ofelia was really, really good with either option. She liked to cook, she felt awkward just watching, but he needed to learn how to get things done in order to sustain himself. Or something.

Also he needed to make their breakfast.

"Y-you think so?" Jason looked over his shoulder at Ofelia, feeling a little uncertain about his progress here. He turned back to the sizzling pan, only to step aside as Ofelia came to offer a hand. "Thankyou..." He felt more confident with her nearby, especially since she had fixed up his broken egg.

"I had no idea you could do that" He watched the heat from the pan repair the cut in the yoke, smiling nervously as she continued to praise his efforts.

At her offer for further assistance, the moon trainee glanced at the quickly warming waffle iron. "W-well, I think I should be alright with the eggs and bacon, but if you wouldn't mind, could you help me with the waffles? If we cook them at the same time, we'll get to eat breakfast sooner..."

He was starving by now, the delicious smell of bacon making his mouth water.

"Hehehe, there are lots'a ways ta fix things when stuff starts goin' wrong. It's only when ya panic in the kitchen that ya ruin a meal or become a bad cook." Ofelia chuckled politely and shook her head, moving over to get the batter going. She'd never used the mix before so she had to read the label but there wasn't any problem beyond that. The iron had been turned on so it was warm enough (she dropped a little bit of batter on to test this) and so when everything started to sizzle she poured a bit on the top. " . . . did either'a us check ta see if there was syrup?"

Waffles without syrup would be...interesting. Maybe they could substitute with jam if the need arose?

Jason wasn't very good at telling if something was cooked or not, but judging from the blackened edges of the bacon, he guessed that it was high time he got them off the heat. Bending down to grab a set of plates from under the counter, he carefully coaxed the sizzling meat onto each plate, followed closely by the eggs (he somehow managed to keep them intact as well.)

"Er, I don't think so..." he responded slowly, looking towards the cupboards on the walls. He hadn't checked those. Opening them up, he began to rummage around for signs of the illusive syrup bottle.

It didn't take him long to locate it. Considering there was waffles, it was a safe bet there would be syrup. "Found it!" He pulled out the bottle to set on the counter.

"If ya happen ta burn any pieces, Ah'll eat 'em. Ah really like crunchy an' cruspy bacon, s'always the best. Or sometimes if ya undercook 'em and they're a little chewy - also really good." That was sort of Ofelia's way of telling Jason she'd eat anything and everything he made, to sort of boost his spirits. (Mostly though Ofelia would eat anything and everything anyway). Her focus just sort of changed though once he started putting everything on plates, and the teen looked at the waffle she made.

It was good, a wonderful golden brown, and she popped it out and set it on one of the plates Jason had set out. Another one was quickly poured onto the iron and she turned to look at Jason at his happy outburst. So there was syrup? Awesome. "Awesome. This is all lookin' really good, should we make more'a sommin'? Maybe see if there's fruit we can cut up, or what else comes wit' breakfast?" Ofelia usually just ate. . . . "Oh, maybe some toast? Grits?"

"If thats the case, you're in luck." Jason replied. Seeing as the bacon appeared a little overcooked. But he was not picky himself. Bacon was bacon, and he was pretty sure the bacon he had cooked was at least edible.

The air became mixed with the sweet smell of waffles now, and he couldn't help but stare as the golden square of goodness was set down on the plate, with another hopefully coming soon. "How about we cook a few more waffles, then write a note to make sure to get more batter. So we don't end up running out." Though as he spoke, he managed to pull out a toaster, and placing a few slices of bread into it, he waited for it to pop.

"I'm pretty confident in my ability to make toast." He laughed lightly. Because if he didn't know how to make toast...there would be problems.

"Then, Toast-Master, get some goin' an Ah'll finish up here wit' the waffles an' a few more bits'a bacon. While we're eatin' we can discuss basics cause it's a really bad idea ta talk cookin' on an empty stomach." The teen spoke with a teasing tone and checked the waffle iron. Still a bit more to go on this second one, but she turned and nodded in his regard about making a list to get more. "Yeah, it'd be nice if portals reopened soon. Ah'm runnin' out - or am out'a - lots'a stuff Ah need ta cook an' bake wit'. Ah usually dun mind usin' the supplies'a others but cookin' wit' stuff ya bought yerself has its own special flavor."

Mostly she also knew what would be best to buy from looking at it, not depending on someone else to pick it out. Letting another person choose your food supplies was like letting someone else pick out all your clothing and everything else - you were stuck with what you got and you had to make the best of it.

After pulling out the second waffle and setting up the third she moved to the pan, peering into it. Did they need more bacon after all? "Do ya wanna have more bacon? Ya can never have enough bacon."

With a light-hearted chuckle, Jason readied the toaster with more bread. "I shall use all my skill and know how to make us more toast." He pressed the button, then went to the fridge to grab more bacon rashes. " And bacon as well." Because she was right, you couldn't never have too much bacon. In no time of all there was the sound of hissing and spitting as the bacon was placed on the already hot pan.

"What items do you need?" He then asked as he watched over the food. "I could help you purchase them if you like?" He had no problems with helping someone do the shopping. Though this time he was being only half generous; the idea of going to a shopping maul and doing something so utterly normal and without any fighting and dying sounded blissful.

A list of things? Well she couldn't think of them off the top of her head, Ofelia wasn't doing a stock run and even though she knew her way around a kitchen she wasn't that good. She could at least say a few things though to maybe make it look like she did. "More fresh fruits, different selection'a meats. We need vegetables an' Ah'm runnin' low on mah herbs an' spices." That all sounded well and professional enough, right? It was hard to explain to people that she shopped so much better spur of the moment rather than with lists because she could compare and contrast what it was she needed. "Ah'd love the help, thank ya so much. Ah tend ta have lots an' lots'a bags ta carry so multiple portal trips can get a bit tirin' so havin' an extra set'a hands ta carry sounds wonderful."

Jason, for his troubles and politeness, got an elbow in the ribs.

That was actually Ofelia's best way of being affectionate.
