Melvin moved slowly, but the place was dark as he headed to the other side of the room. As series of darts shot out from the wall and hit his field shield before he was able to move out of the way. There was still no sign of Jerry.

Melvin was close to the other end when he heard a click and before he knew it he saw the ceiling above race down. In an instant it came down.
He arrived out of the maze and back in Deus.

They returned after a short break, having had no luck but no real strain. The feeling of death was the only thing wearing them down, and after their setbacks, they were ready to try again. They found the portal, which seemed to taunt them to try again, and were back in the dark chambers once again. "I hope we don't get colds from being down here." Yeah, they were in a death prison for evil gods and he was worried about catching a cold.

He moved ahead and paused, breath catching. There was a slithering on stone that caught his attention, and he saw a shape moving in the darkness. "I think we have company." He told Jerry, stepping back. The corridors were hard to move out in, which meant he could just jump at a distance without passing the creature. It was literally a tight situation.
The shadow appeared, the upper part hunched but relatively looking human shaped, but the bottom moved on a snake's bottom.

Jerry's insides boiled at the sight of the crawling shadows. "Alright, alright you know what to do!" He was grinning, humming merrily as Roar was readied.

"Yeah, I used to know what I need to do. There isn't any room around that thing! How am I supposed to distract it when it's taking up the entire path??" He asked, pointing at the shadow mass.
Moving ahead, he held out his gun and shot at it, hitting the ground at it's feet in hopes it would look at him. It glanced, but didn't seem to be caring about him specifically. It seemed like it still wanted to tear them both apart

Jerry's face paled at the sight of the snake like creature, backing down the hall just a bit. It was a small space, and while Roar's bark echoed down the hall, it somehow managed to completely miss it's target.
At least the path was lit a bit brighter for a short period.

This was by far a total 180 from the last island, and Melvin moved up and stuck close to Jerry, slightly in front before picking up some rocks from the ground and tossing them at the creatures eyes. It did happen to work, causing the shadow to shake it's head and hiss at him.
"This thing is going to get awfully close, awfully fast here."

"Fine!" He shouted back, moving in. What was he supposed to do, do the hulu? Tell it Knock-Knock jokes? Before it was easy to throw things and just run around, but there was NO ROOM here. If he got behind it, he could let Jerry hit it from behind. It just meant he had to move around it.
Time to run.
He breathed deep and raced over, glad he was skinny as he worked to get around the creature. However, this one was not slow, and the noise caused it to snap around and turn on the Lifer, grabbing his coat and throwing him down.
Well, he was distracting now.

Te thing was occupied enough, it's tail flipping to snap at the Sun Hunter as he took position, a deep breath, aimed, and fired. This time the blast hit the thing straight on, ripping straight through to nearly blast through Melvin as well on the other side.

The force of the blast sent the beast falling, but also sent Melvin tripping and falling down as well. On the ground, he was dazed and rubbed his chin where a scuff was at. Oh great, that probably was going to get infected on this nasty floor. Who knew what gross demons were walking around here.
"Ughhh..." Melvin wasn't much use to anyone right now.

The creature flailed, claws reaching out but snake-like tail whipping around Jerry's ankle to send him crashing to the ground.
He grit his teeth, leveling his weapon with the creature with a wild howl.
