Candace could understand that feeling. She felt the same way. If she didn't get off the island soon the Mist Hunter was scared she'd do something terrible. Like...explode.

Or something.

But there was a matter of playing Lance's game right now. Candace squinted her eyes and pursed her lips. "I've already got one man claiming I'm his pet, I won't let you get the better of me too." Translation: Come at me bro.

She climbed on his lap again, not to cuddle but to just...sit on him in what she hoped was the most uncomfortable way possible for him. It would probably be more effective if his legs weren't paralyzed. Details. She was totally exerting dominance over Lance. "I'll make sure he keeps up with his training, ma'am. And I'll keep an eye on the rest of the Mists as well. No lazy trainees~."

Lance shook his head. "I'm not interested in keeping pets," he stressed the word with distaste, leaning back and putting his hands behind his head. He wasn't bothered by her. By the look on his face, he was actually the opposite. "Besides, more importantly: how do you like the view up there?"

If she had been holding a pencil, it would have snapped by now. Instead she made a sound of disgust and stood, ready to leave.

"Oh that's assuring. And the view is dreadful, I'm afraid. Nothing pretty to look at." She stuck her tongue out at Lance and then grinned, turning to Aria again just as she heard the noise her leader made. Wait, what? Oh no! s**t! Shitshit! She'd hit the limit she'd pushed it too far! Candace moved off Lance and stood beside the couch on her own two feet, straightening out her coat and reaching out to rest a hand on Aria's arm to stop her. "Wait! Wait, I'm sorry. I mean it, I'll make sure he keeps up with his training. And I'll keep an eye on the trainees." She hadn't meant to upset Aria. Not Aria.

Aria shrugged off Candace's hand. "See to it," she ordered crisply as she turned and began to stalk off. She paused, her voice a little louder. "And Lance? While I do not mind your preferences, kindly remember to restrain yourself in front of me. Dismissed." Her heels sounded awfully hollow as she stalked out of the Mist Lounge, allowing the door to close behind her.

Lance said nothing, peeling his eyes away from the back of Candace to stare at the door Aria left through.

Getting shrugged off like that by Aria was like a punch in the gut to Candace. ********, she'd really pissed her off now. She felt so dejected. Groaning, she ruffled her hair and looked back at Lance after Aria had left, frowning and standing a small distance away from him. "Ah...sorry, I didn't mean to push her too far.." Yes, Candace. It's all your fault. Lance did nothing wrong. Totally.

Lance shrugged. "Why are you apologizing to me? I don't mind it." He gestured towards the door, adding, "Aria's just a bit... shall we say, touchy? Honestly she told me she didn't mind it. I guess she does, or as she just put it she minds when she sees it." He sighed, mentally considering his options.

"At least this way she'll go onto her mission with a clear mind," he volunteered at last as he reached for his wheelchair. "The last thing we need is for her to go soft and start worrying about us, y'know? Being mad will give her an edge. And who knows?" He began to scoot towards the edge of the couch, getting ready to move from couch to chair, "Maybe we can open her mind up a bit. Getting attached to one person is... dangerous in this line of work. You need someone there to pick up the pieces. I'm just damn lucky Aria was there for me when I wound up like this, for instance."

At Lance's assurance Candace sighed and flopped down on the couch again, sitting down beside Lance with a small pout. Lance would know Aria better than she did so all she could do was believe what he was saying. "Want me to hold your chair steady for you?" Candace offered, watching him work at getting ready to hop.

..Open her mind up a bit? She raised a brow. "Open her mind up to what?" Though he had a point with the getting attached thing. It was hard not getting attached to just one person though. Even for Candace who tried not to let that happen to her. "I guess that's true.."
