He tried his best to keep moving, but it really meant for terrible aim. "I'm not good with moving and aiming!" He told her, and he wasn't. He was still trying to master standing and aiming that moving and aiming just had him shooting poorly. Luckily (or unluckily), there were enough shadowlings on their tail and all around swarming at them that he could hit something in any direction without much aim.
They were close to the doors at this point and he could see them again. This was exactly where he was when he was overtaken. "We're almost there!" To which he did start moving.

Rin was about to argue back, that aim was useless if you aren't moving forward, but then he seemed to suddenly realize what she meant and was moving. The light ahead a soft comforting beacon.
He was moving now on his own so she released his hand and slid behind him as the shadowlings seemed to realize that was the safest place to rush and attack - she gave a few the taste of her axe instead.

He made it to the door, shooting as he waited for her. "We're here! Come on!" He told her, holding the door as he waited for her to rush over to him. The shadowlings were gathering near the end in one large wall and moving in, ready to rush over them and swallow them whole.

Rin looked back one last time at the massive wall of teeming darkness that threatened to swallow her whole and gave one last valiant swipe as tendrils reached out and touched her legs, intent to drag her in. The limbs severed and useless as she turned back towards Melvin and the light and leapt towards both to safety.
The shadow run was far more intense than she was expecting - but she still pulled through, "What a rush."

Melvin breathed deep, glad the doors were closed. "Yeah, it sucked last time when I got swarmed." The place frankly freaked him out, but he started to smile. "But we passed." Take that Suns! He just beat your course as a trainee! No one could say he was slacking at all now. He had just one course left and he could proudly claim he had passed all the courses.
"Now I just have one left." One left before he had a nice, cleared list. "Pretty good for not being a Sun."

Rin chuckled breathlessly before turning her head to smile huge at him, "Yup! We ******** rocked that s**t." One left? Another challenge? She was game, "What do you have left, perhaps I can go too?"
She looked hopeful, she liked beating s**t, it felt powerful and awesome and well... just all around fantastic.

"A Tower. I've never been there and have no idea what it's about. I just know that it's on my list." Considering it wasn't a Life course, he was sure it was dangerous and probably would freak the living daylights out of him, but seeing as he just did the Sun course, how bad could it be?
"Have you done the Tower before?" He asked, hoping she would have some information before he had to tackle the last course.

Oh ********... Mist-aken Tower you mean?" Suddenly Rin somehow looked even whiter than usual, "Because I tried it but... .. I... well... let's just say my first time ever experiencing 'death'." That was putting it lightly. She flinched recalling idly how it felt to choke to death on her own blood.

"Oh. So it's like Deathsweeper." Melvin frowned at the idea, as that course was the one that introduced him to death over and over again. It had left him shaken and drained for days after and he still felt unsettled thinking about it.
"How...how about we wait a day? I'd rather not start that right after this one." He wanted a shower and to prepare himself. "Sound good?"

Rin looked relieved to hear they weren't going right this minute, "Yeah, sounds good to me. You hungry? We can go get dinner or something."

Melvin smiled. "Dinner sounds good." He gestured to the Tower Tech before heading out the portal back to the labs in Deus, and from there headed with Rin to the cafeteria.
