Melvin had never seen the land of Holidays that when Jerry came racing in a panic, he was very concerned and frightened. A full hunter with a cannon, his protection, was running away in fear. He decided to steer clear of that direction and noticed another portal while Jerry regrouped.
"I'm checking this one." He slowly moved beside a pair of trees and stepped in, landing on soft, fluffy snow. It had been a while since he saw snow that he felt a smile on his face. Thanksgiving was coming and he had pretty much resigned that a tropical island would not have any snow for the holidays. This smile swept away when a pair of very angry elves came his way.
"Oh..." He had read that geography book.
Moments later Melvin had run through the woods and beside Jerry (or maybe more behind him) and panted hard. "********.." That's all he managed.

"One of these has... has GOT to be the one right?" Jerry groaned. Another flash of light. He steeled his courage. "Alright. We can do this." He marched forward.
And promptly ran out again as someone inside threw various things like dressers and shoes and flailing tentacles after him, "S-same house," He squeaked. "M-maybe we should... move deeper into the forest?"

Melvin watched as a dresses was tossed and rolled down their way and looked around, skittish about all the noise they were making. "That's a good idea. A bit loud here." There were candy canes, jingle bells, and furniture everywhere.
Moving forward, deeper into the woods, he paused and looked at Jerry. "I think I see something." He moved on a head, past a slowly growing fog, before he saw a house he did not want to see this early. Monotone and foreboding, it only said death and being lost to him, and he spun on a heel right back to the Hunter. "Haunted House." Was all he said, wiping his brow a moment with a handkerchief he brought with him before checking his phone. "We still got some time."

Melvin decided to try a less foggy area and moved to another portal that smelled somewhat sweet. He moved into the dark before he heard wood creak under his shoes. Looking around, he was in a small room with dried plants hanging from strings along with small, shrunken heads. Dusty jars filled cabinets that made the wooden walls, and in the center was a boiling caldron. There, sitting on a chair, was a gnarled witch with pink muck on her face, flipping through a copy of Cosmos as she reached over and picked out a sugar-coated toe from a bag and popped it in her mouth. What was most disturbing was that she was wearing a lacey black number that did nothing to support her aging body, and he was left just turning green himself.
When she noticed him, she covered her chest with her magazine before spitting out a toe into the boiling cauldron she was leaning against. "Didn't you read the sign? We're closed!" Reaching down, she grabbed a cat and threw it at him.
Melvin returned later looking pale and rubbing a few claw marks on his cheeks. Somewhere in the woods was his breakfast. "Don't..don't go over there." He covered his mouth, feeling another wave of nauseous hit him.

Jerry fumbled out of another portal, his eyes wide and his face crimson, "There were... succubuses in... in that one..." He breathed.
No. No. Eyes on the prize.

Succubuses. Well, he should really check to make sure. "Oh, well, I'll just be careful." He slowly turned one direction, and when Jerry was regrouping, went that way.
He did not get the one he wanted, and instead was decked hard by a lot of snowballs by some very pissed off snowmen. Returning back, he tossed snow off his hair and shoulders, feeling tender from being hit, and tried not to have flashbacks from 3rd period PE dodge ball.
"And here I was missing snow." He said with a shiver, his jacket a bit soggy now.

A catch of breath and Jerry was starting to feel uncomfortable. The air here wasn't right... all the Fear he supposed. He was a full Hunter, he wondered how poor Melvin was holding up. They couldn't last much longer. "One of these has GOT to-" He hurried into the next that opened, and immediately hurried out again, his face green. "Some... some witch's kitchen. I... there were... skinned cats and..." He looked about to cry.

Melvin wasn't doing so good. He'd barely been here for 20 minutes and he felt as if he had just spent an entire day running a marathon. There was a dull drumming in his head spiking a headache, as if his skull was in a vice. "I'm sure it will pop up......" When Jerry returned looking downright miserable, Melvin awkwardly patted the air near his shoulder - not actually touching him. "Um...there-there. I'm sure they were undead." Though he didn't know if Halloween even had animal rights here.
Breathing deep, he moved to a portal to his left, hoping a new direction would get better results, and only came back to pull a candy cane from his jacket. He had prided himself on keeping it tidy, but now there was a hole in it. "I keep getting thrown back into the Christmas place." This might not have been the best area. He took out a wipe to clean the sticky peppermint from his gloves.

"Well you're a lot closer than I've been," Jerry murmured as he practically flopped out of the next portal. "I keep... ending up in Halloween folk's houses." That last one had involved a rather fat old man and a bathtub.

He was looking at the time, rubbing his eyes as the dull pounding at the back of his head started to turn into a rave tempo, a striking hammer on the anvil of a nerve, and he breathed deep. "Might have to check on another area then. This seems to be a bit more random and isn't changing scenery for us." They needed foreign places, not popping in on Halloween folks.
He spotted a portal nearby, which were frankly popping up like daisies around here, and went over with his gun ready.
He returned later with a felslime following behind him. "Slime kids." He said, before rubbing his eyes and kicking some dirt at the minipet to go away and leave him alone.
A timer beeped and he breathed out, deflating. He had such high hopes and it seemed they just wasted time. "Sorry. I guess I need to check more maps." It probably was silly to expect to hit oil the first time around anyways.

"I need... a breather. A real breather," Jerry huffed, desummoning Roar as he wobbled on his feet, "We've... been here for a while... too long and... and we'll... ahahaha... explode. You holding up alright?" He gingerly offered Melvin an arm for support as he touched his pendant, "Let's... let's get a drink and... and try again in a bit." A rest sounded good.

"Explode." He thought they just passed out! "Uh...yeah. I just need some aspirin." Or a bottle of it.
As hesitant as he was to touch Jerry, he did feel winded, and set a hand on his shoulder before they were teleported out. Back in the real world, everyone swam for a moment and he nearly fell back before he found a chair and took a breather.
"Okay." He took deep breathes. "Maybe....maybe we should just call it a lunch break and I'll go check some maps back in the library. Maybe stop in by the labs and see if they have anything." He breathed deep. A cup of coffee would probably help his head. "...that is if you want to try again today." He wasn't sure how busy Jerry was.

"Yeah.. uh.." Jerry panted, also slumping into a chair to wait for his head to stop spinning. "You er... you check the labs. I'll um. I'll check the library." It was probably a good idea for him to stay away from the labs for a while.

"Alright. The book was Historical Geography of Halloween and Theoretical Locations." He breathed deep, waiting a moment longer. "I'm going to go get lunch and go sit in the labs for a bit." Mainly to wait for a few techs to leave a few rooms before he hopped on and checked things out. He knew how to use the printer more than most techs now and could get a few copies printed for them about the Forest.
Rising slowly, he touched the wall for support. "I'll meet you in the library when I'm done." He moved slowly, breathing deep as he headed off. It would be over a hour before he even showed up in the library.
