Taani nodded, momentarily drifting mentally, faint memories of family vacations, going to the village her parents had grown up in. In that moment she forgot to concentrate on Sherry, simply nodding and pretending like she was paying attention. That was...unacceptable. She had not even been distracted by Charles, the woman deserved more than that.

The talk of portals captured her attention easily enough. Instantaneous travel? That was science fiction. There had been research uncovering ways to start to move atoms but nothing along that scale...a small nudge in the back of her mind reminded her of the situation she now lived her life in. Bound to a talking weapon, did she really want to doubt the idea of a portal existing? The fact that they were for official business only was unsurprising. But curiosity was taking over slightly. "They sound bril," she said, a hint of excitement flashing in her dark eyes. "Can these portals go anywhere? Are they physical portals that need to be set up on both sides or are they intangible?" She could probably come up with several more questions, but for now her mind was racing with the implications.

Taani took in the information, carefully storing it away. She had more questions about the portals and how they worked, but this was probably not the person to ask. The pendant though, that was useful information. Teleportation, and this facility knew all about it, enough to send people about, while scientists were struggling with a few atoms. It was hard to wrap her head around it. She wanted to know more, to understand what else there was, but that could wait. Right now...right now she wanted to figure out some of the truly important things, and if Sherry had been here for a while perhaps she could help her out.

So, despite the topic shift, Taani was ready to dive right in. "Is there a place to watch DVDs or listen to music around here? They told me not to bring electronics but I had assumed there would be something." She had already gone longer than perhaps she had ever gone before without listening to music, and she needed it or she was highly liable to start humming something possibly off-key that she could dance to, and that could just get annoying for anyone around her.

Priorities.

She supposed it made sense. After all, she was brand new and she was already asking questions about how to relax and just sit around and watch something. On the other hand, movies and music to her meant dancing, and dancing meant staying fit, so really it was just in everyone's best interest that she have access to it.

Or at least, that was what she was determined to tell herself.

She made a highly non-committal motion with her head, a peculiar combination of a nod and a shake that seemed to mean nothing at all other than that she had heard the message. "Thank you for your help Sherry," she added, with a slight hint of a bow in her direction.

"Taani," she confirmed. "And you certainly helped. I doubt I can but if I can help you feel free to ask." She wasn't going to promise help, but she would probably try. She was almost out of her element here though with how smoothly that meeting had went, and she liked it.

Pressing her hands in front of her one last time she moved off down the hallway, humming a bit of a disjointed tune that sounded pitch-perfect in her mind.
