Punching a door hurt like Hell, and it was enough to shock the tears right out of him. Ami wrapped him in a hug just in time, his head buried in the crook of her neck as he choked back sobs. He hated crying when there was someone around. It was embarrassing, and made him feel exposed. But he couldn't help it. He'd lost someone important, someone he'd taken for granted, like most things he cared about. He'd lost his partner, seen friends and allies die. It did hurt. It was painful.
His hands came up to grip onto the back of Ami's coat. He let go of the worry of others seeing him cry and just let himself be sad. Maybe this would help, after all.

"I'm sorry Otto," she whispered, "I'm so, so sorry."
In a way, she was forgiving herself. When Junpei broke, nobody coddled her. Nobody told her they were sorry. Nobody held her through lonely nights, no one helped her adjust. The most hurtful part was that no one treated her as a continually useful asset. They all looked at her like she was merely a broken good. She was alone, and would probably always be that way.
But Otto didn't have to be. She'd make sure of it.

Otto wanted to let himself believe Tenya would come back, that she wasn't dead. She was a creature of Halloween once, right? They always came back. But the rational part of Otto didn't want to cling to false hope. That by grieving and letting go, he could move on and forward. But letting go was hard. Not since losing his grandfather had he felt this bad. But he had Ami there. As much as he'd fought it, he did feel better crying to someone else rather than all alone. Being alone just made him even sadder; something he rarely let himself admit.
He calmed himself down enough to just the occasional sniffle, and slowly pulled away. His lifted an arm to wipe his eyes on his sleeves, his gaze low and careful not to catch Ami's eyes. "Thanks.." He mumbled quietly.

Ami exited the hug as quickly as she began it. Her face was a bright rosy red and her hooded eyes mirrored Otto's, looking at the ground, the wall- anywhere but meeting Otto's gaze.
"N-No problem," she said, folding her hands together. Had anyone seen that? Were people paying attention? Someone must have seen that embarrassing display. She could hear the whispers already.
Abruptly, Ami made a dive for her door. "I'm only a door away, Otto." Then she awkwardly entered her room to save them both any further embarrassment.

Otto nodded quickly and made a hasty retreat to his own room after Ami did. Both of them were rather private people. Such a display was something they both likely wanted kept private.
Otto had to keep his street cred intact, after all.
So, he spent the better part of the night by himself, curled under layers of blankets trying to sleep.
