The bear roared out loudly as his arteries were damaged and blood began to slip out and stain the cave floor. He stumbled around and began to swipe at anything that moved. The beast was wounded and began to weaken, but he was blinded by rage and aggravation. Agitated, he looked around wildly.
Soon the female wolf darted forward again before throwing herself and pushing him against the wall. The bear snarled out and fell against the wall. The icicles tinkled and a few cracks were heard.
Like frozen lethal rain, the icicles darted down and pierced into the bear. Stumbling back, she looked to him and growled in warning. The icicles were still falling and if they were under them they would get hurt. Of course after a moment, she blinked. Why was she telling him to get out of the way? He had tried to kill her only minutes ago. She barked still at him before pressing against a safe wall.

It was done. The bear was weakened and was pieced by the icicles. He heard the female telling him to get out of the way but Taro didn't move. Fascinatd by the death of the bear he stood there. Every so often, without realizing it he would step out of the way of a icicle.
Death was a great fascination with him. The way a creatured died, either by him or by something caused by him was something that beast part of him relished. Delicious. Delectable. Incredible. Those words and more were in his mind watching what was becoming of the bear. Then Taro turned to look at the alpha female and grinned wickedly. "Come out and let's finish what we started female. I'll win my cave."

But Titania was laying weakly on her side. Blood stained her white fur and she was at an angle laying against the wall. She was trying pathetically to pull the scarf off, not wanting the precious treasure to get stained with blood, but even this simple task was hindered. With her last strike at the bear, his claws had raked across her already wounded flack, causing more damage. Huffing softly, she knew that she could not fight the other male.
If he let her heal there was hope she could survive with rest and a meal, but it was obvious he wanted this cave. Laying her head down, she breathed in slowly and thought of her family. Mostly her thoughts were of her mother and her kindness. A small smile touched her lips.
Her eyes snapped open however as the dying bear tried to exact one last death blow upon the weakened female. With an ugly roar, the beast tried to bring a claw down upon the female who was unable to move. Closing her eyes tightly, she waited for death by the hand of the raging, dying creature.

He didn't know what he was doing until it happened. Until he, Taro the meanest, cruelest, totally out of his mind wolf; jumped at the paw that was about to give a final fatal blow to the weakened female wolf by giving a chilling bark, latching his jaw onto the wrist and pulled back to miss the female by mere inches.
The idea that the bear in it's own weakened state would attack another in their own miserable and weakened state angered him. Taro, while never fair and truly vicious, he didn't strike at a fair enemy when they were down. If it was someone that really pissed him off he didn't give a damn. But the female fought fair and equal to him, that earned some respect there.
Taro nearly ripped the paw off the wrist and dropped the hand, attacking the pinned and dying bear to snuff it's light out already. Disgusted by the creature he nearly....quite nearly slaughtered it but he was careful to not damage fur that could be used to keep warm in this winter.
Stepping away from the bed, blood splattered on his face and chest, his legs and a bit on his side he walked over to the female. The male stood over her, looking down at her with wild burning gold eyes.

The white hot feeling of pain never struck her and with ever hitching breath she was sure she was still alive in this cold blood-soaked cave. Slowly, she opened her eyes to a sight that struck her silent. The male was nearly tearing the bear apart, finally ending its meek existence and tirade. The stone dwelling drew eerie silent and the wold seemed to hold still for a moment as the creature breathed its last and finally died, truly.
Then the only sound was the clicking of claws on the cold stone ground as the male made his way over to her. She looked up at him, knowing she had no way of defending herself and he was the victor. Bowing her head in submission for a moment, she conceded to death should he wish it... but something strangely instinctual took over first.
Leaning her head up slowly, she licked along his neck and muzzle very softly, cleaning it of some blood. It was a submissive gesture, used by underlings that cleaned a great warrior returning home after a hunt. Pups did it by showing their appreciation for the meal and lesser females or siblings did it to mates and elders to show that they would clean that whom was stronger and deserving of the praise.
When she thought that was enough, she lay her head back down and closed her eyes. If death chose this night to come, she knew honor would lay with her.

Taro was startled to see the female submit. Even more so when she licked at the blood that covered his fur. While he should have ended her suffering he felt oddly.....opposed to it. His mind was not in the right place. Taro definitely wasn't sane so that had to explain why he defended the female.
Of course if that was the case why was he laying down next to the female and licking at her wounds? It was odd but in a sense he didn't want her to die. The bear was enough. It was big and it was being a damn brat. So it was big enough to die for all of them. That sort of logic was generally kept to himself.
The male had won his cave but....But he cared for the female in her weakened state. He licked her wounds as clean as possible, using his body to keep her warm. Taro would have to cut into the bear for the meat and serve some to her but for now, there was silence and it was that silence that kept him leashed.

It was just one surprise after another. One minute she is sure she is going to die from the blow of the bear. The next she is saved by the savage male. Then a few minutes after that she is sure she is going to die from a lethal strike from the possessive male wolf. Again, her life is given back to her. It was what came after that that had her floored.
A warm tongue moved over her wounds and licked them clean, making way for the healing process. Then a larger, warmer form lay down beside her, keeping her heated. Opening her eyes, she looked to him, his sleek black and gold form blocking any of the winter wind from reaching her and warming her.
As they lay beside one another, she looked to their paws, his larger ones making her own look so small. Perhaps she still had some growing to do. Looking back up at him, she finally got the chance to look into his eyes. She surmised that most wolves shuddered first because the glaze of insanity within his orbs, but with everything that had happened she saw the layers beneath. A sense of honor and the sated heart of a wandering wolf. He was content with the bear's death and no longer wished for hers.
With this revelation and reassurance, she slowly lay her head back down, this time near his own paws. Relaxing, she showed her appreciation by trusting him and accepting his offer of peace and warmth.

Taro watched the female. He was good at watching. Watching got him his food, his enemies paying for their stupidity and it got him to this point of being...calm. Maybe it had to do with the bear....Yeah killing that bear in having the last say did it for him. Or maybe after all that licking the wound of this female and actually caring for her calmed him.
It could be the act alone since it was a great rarity. Who knows? What Taro did know was that he was protecting the female from the threat of the cold and of illness. Perhaps he would offer sharing given that it would be a while for this female to gain her strength.
Seeing her look at him without flinching made him pause. No one did that. Everyne always cowered in fear of him. Everyone always saw the monster in his eyes and averted their gaze, even the more stronger opponents and he's managed to survive somehow from those stronger enemies. Yet she didnt. Instead the female layed her head down, trusting him and accepting the unconscience offering of peace and warmth.
There really was any fight left in him for the female so perhaps that's what he did offer it just took him a bit to grasp that in his chaotic mind. No matter, he nuzzled the female's fur licking off the drying blood not wanting the perfectly white coat to be tainted. Unlike him, he wore blood like a cloak but on her, he wanted it off. What an odd thing to want.

Titania didn't know why, but sleep came easily to her here in the cave. Normally if she was forced to sleep alone because she was being punished by her father, she tossed, turned and shuddered in the cold. Of course, she was not alone. No, she was with a stranger; a male she had never met before. In fact, she didn't even know his name.
As sleep clawed at her conscious mind, she tried to grasp to the fact that neither of them had any idea who the other was. Only that their fight was over and no more blood need be shed. Her body was relaxed and the tense way her muscles had been loosened with every gentle lick to her side. She breathed easily and whispered to him.
"Titania," she managed out softly, "My name is Titania."
With that small introduction, she then fell asleep against him, her white form laying gently against his larger gold and black one. The wind outside howled and the snow threatened to build up... but it was ignored. It did not bother either of them. Together.

Titania. Her name was Titania and it was....beautiful. Finishing up his task of cleaning her wounds he made sure Titania was tucked against his large body, becoming a physical blanket of sorts for her until she woke up to help her move furhter into the cave for better warmth and it would later on give him a chance to stripe the bear of it's meat and fur.
For now, Taro watched over Titania. Her name dancing through his mind doing odd little things to him. Nuzzling closing he layed his head down next to hers still looking. "Taro.....I'm Taro." He muttered gruffly never having actually introduced himself to anyone....Literally. It was odd and well....Different. Especially given how everything ended here.
For now he wouldn't think about that. It was peaceful here with Titania and it would do him well to sleep a little bit. Yes sleep and keep Titania, this impressive and fascinatingly irritating female safe and warm.

"Taro..."
The name slipped from her muzzle as she dozed softly. The female wolf was content for some reason here with the male as her living blanket. Never had she slept so well, even after the wound was inflicted and the cold biting at her smaller form. She felt an enormous amount of safety here nestled with the the strange male she just met.
The cold night passed easily and Titania found herself wrapped in warmth throughout the evening. When the morning came and the snow calmed, the young female opened her eyes to find herself face to face with black and gold fur. Blinking a few times, she looked up before lifting her head and looking around. Oh yes... the cave.
For a moment, she was confused and then the day before came rushing back to her. Looking over Taro, she analyzed him for a moment before leaning out and slowly licking his neck and up to his ear. It was a gentle thank you. After this she tried to stand, though her body objected.

It was a pretty good sleep. Okay that was an understatement but Taro would never admit to himself that it was the best night sleep he has had in a very long time. He was warm and comfortable, surprisingly so with the female wolf.....Correction with Titania.
As the night gave way to dawn Taro was still asleep yet a part of him alert for moment of any kind. The male never liked the idea of anything creeping on him during his most vulnerable state. It came in handy when he felt licks on his neck and on his ears, making his sensitive ears twitch, earning a small gruff sound.
The suddenly loss of the warmth made him start and he looked up at the side where Titania layed for the better part of the night. His eyes were foggy with sleep yet he scowled. "Damn female. What are you doing? Trying to die further? Lay down before I cripple you further." He snapped gruffly, the need to fuss over Titania surprising him further. Taro didn't know what the hell was going on in his reactions to this female.

As the male growled at her the female blinked and looked to him before bowing her head and laying back down next to him. She was quiet for a moment before looking to him and meeting his eyes.
"You have won the cave and this is your territory. I should leave this place to you," Titania told him softly, knowing how the fight of dominance worked. Her father had beating the rules into her. As she lay next to him, her body relaxed and the pain wore away again. Unsure of why he wanted her to heal, she looked over him curiously and breathed slowly.
Looking over at the dead bear, she was reassured that he truly was the better fighter. The bloody mess was affirmation enough.

Staring at the female he layed his head down next to Titania and growled still. "Yes I won. That does not mean however you have to leave. In your condition you will die from the weather or another cunning creature will take advantage and kill you. Either way, I'm the lesser of all evils. You do not interest me in slaughtering you."
Looking at the bear was enough to sate the bloodlust in him. Grumbling further he stood up and shook off his fur, there was still blood dried on his coat and he stretched, moving over to the bear to nose it. With precision he back to cut into the flesh of the bear, separating meat and fur, meat from bone. He intended to feed Titania. There was plenty of meat to last a few days.
Taro turned his gaze onto Titania and considered her for a moment. "You will stay here until the weather lightens up if you wish. I'm sure this territory is big enough for both no?"

He was inviting her to stay? This was his domain in every right. Normally she would be chased off with nipping jaws at her heels. This was not her land and she would not be welcome in any other land claimed by a large and dominant male like him. As he padded toward the bear, she watched him carefully and found herself staring rather intensely.
The wolf standing before her was sleek looking but incredibly well built. He had strong muscles and a very toned form. Her eyes roamed slowly over him and for a moment she was sure that had they met during mating season they would have most likely commenced in ma-
She stopped that line of though and instantly looked down. She then noted his warmth had left from beside her. Closing her eyes, she lay her head back down and sighed. Though she would not admit it out loud, she liked him laying next to her. It protected her and kept her arm. She felt safe and happy. It had been so long since she had felt that.
