Zsaru finished the last bite of her mouse and swiped her tongue around her jaws. Rising, she arched her back in a long, luxurious stretch. She sat back on her haunches and began cleaning the remains from her face and forepaws, all the while scanning her surroundings.
"Ah, perfect.", she purred. Finishing her grooming, she rose and started forward, a sun-bathed rock locked in her green gaze. A nap would be delightful after her meal. Reaching the large rock, the serval leaped easily onto it and padded in a few circles before spiraling down into a tightly curled ball. Such perfect sleeping conditions; the sun warming her black pelt, the gentle breeze keeping her from becoming too hot, the noisy chatter of several creatures..... Wait a moment.
Zsaru raised her head and stretched her jaws wide in a yawn. Turning her head towards the voices, Zsaru spotted a group of mismatched animals - some lions, some birds, a hyena, even a hybrid. Eyes narrowed into disapproving slits, Zsaru slid gracefully from her rock and stalked toward the group full of questions. She was getting a little tired of these strange lions parading around and interrupting her naps.
Nearing the group, she caught the end of the conversation. They were looking for a lion - a "blue-gray lion". She turned away and headed north; she would help these strangers, but she thought it better not to tell them. That way, if she couldn't find their friend, there would be no need to hold a conversation with them at all. While blue-gray could describe a great many lions, Zsaru did recall seeing a blue-gray lion long ago. There was no way to know if it was the same blue-gray lion, but it was worth a shot to see if he was still around. If there was a chance she could find their friend and make these strangers go home, she could have some peace and quiet![OOC - C1, please!.]

She knew Drogon wasn't happy to see her - Frankly, it seemed like few were. Maybe it had something to do with her constantly taking things... But so long as she didn't filch from the kaar themselves or anyone else higher ranking than she was, she felt she was all good. "Blue-gray..." That helped just... So much, didn't it? She frowned a bit, looking around. "Well... My goal proved a moot point, just, you know... Scouting..." She gave a wave of her paw, not really so concerned with this or that. "All I found was something dead, some random... THINGS... Vultures, ravens, and you three. So..." She gave the three a smile. "Where should I start? I really have no idea where to even BEGIN here..."
The raven made another gesture at Drogon, then took to the air, circling around and around the group. After a moment, she landed on Nuri's head, finding the cloth of her hood perfect for holding onto. Green eyes looked around, before she settled down. May as well ride with her, right?
A dark eyebrow went up. "Blue-gray.." His words echoed the spotted dark lioness. "That... Is very 'elpful, don't you think?" He was unimpressed. These were really the 'monsters' of the northern lands Vunde had told him about? The disguised god gave the vulture a sour look, before he started walking. "I will go this way... If I find something..." He stopped, looking around at the lions and hybrid gathered. After a moment, he looked at the leoponess. "What were your names again? I do not know any of your names, I'm afraid, so I would not know 'o to call to if I find something..."

Hakuna raised a brow at the group she spotted. Quite a motley crew. Well...no harm in still looking. When one of them asked for locals, she just raised a brow and sat. Now why were they looking for locals? A dark blue lioness with a not-all-there look in her eyes sat beside her, tilting her head to one side at the group. Kyouko stopped her curious look a moment to smile at Hakuna, then turned back to the group of outsider-lions. Oh they were from even farther away than she or the leopard beside her.
Ah....so they were looking for someone. Kyouko stood up, nodding. She was willing to help. She knew what it was like trying to find someone with a small group. "I do not recognize that description...but I can help look." Hakuna nodded, standing as well.
"As can I." The more people looking, the faster this creature was found.

Well wasn't this a nice helpful bunch they had found. And look at some of them with their strange colours and their strange markings! Eugh, that was definitely the Nergui part of her talking. She'd been a rogue long before she'd joined up with them and she wouldn't have thought anything of them before being 'influenced'. She certainly didn't want to think like the Nergui who wanted her dead.
"Excellent, excellent!" She rumbled, moving towards Ruyken with a few subtle steps. He was certainly a pretty boy. Leopards did have a certain elegance about them that lions lacked. She could certainly see why her father had coupled with one. If he had been born a lion the Nergui would have recruited him in an instant, what with those strange markings and the wounds that indicated he was a bit of a fighter.
And still the helpers came! In all shapes and sizes, too.
"Yes, yes, blue-grey. Seeing as Nergui don't exactly like hybrids all that much I was never permitted close enough." Her voice stayed smooth despite the fact that being treated as a lesser being clearly upset her. "If we split up I'm sure we'll notice something. Some tracks or mark of some description." The Shuko did leave signs for one another, didn't they?
"Perhaps check the trees?" And she looked to her cousins for confirmation. "In case he put any sign on the bark?"

Nuri's 'explanation', despite not having been asked for one, was unsatisfactory. Scouting did not explain the distance she had gone, he, his brother and his cousin must have been journeying for a few days to get down here! If his father were nearby they wouldn't have needed this special mission to come fetch him. So as far as Drogon was concerned, this insolent, nosy female had just followed them!
He reminded himself that this was simply not the time to get all angry about that, despite Drogon still being young and warm-blooded. He decided he'd try and block out Nuri until he absolutely had to deal with her. He focused on the others instead.
"Your help is greatly appreciated," he said, managing to actually sound pretty grateful about the offer for help from all these strangers. He of course didn't think much of them, as far as Drogon knew they were fools who didn't follow Tra Ord Omak, but as long as they were useful right now they were fine by him. The green leopard asked their names, and he waited a few moments before answering. "I am Drogon." He wouldn't bother with an alias, it seemed excessive right now.
He didn't appreciate his cousin's comment much, as it wasn't bound to endear many to himself and his brother, even if they treated Ilizi well. But she was clever, and he could only hope she knew what she was doing. Drogon was a fan of playing things smart! Well, sure, he did like beating things up, too, but even he could recognize that wouldn't do much for them now. Besides, he wanted to fulfill his mother's words and follow in his father's steps, and one day lead the Shadow Guard. He had to play this game well!
"I think that's a good idea." He agreed, with a nod. "And perhaps... you," He indicated Kyouko, because she had already agreed to help and had absolutely fascinating markings. Drogon was polite, of course, even if most could tell it probably contrasted with his general rough looking appearance. "–I'm afraid I don't know your name. But I think those rocks are worth checking out." He indicated where he meant. Stone seemed as good a place to make a mark as any.
-
If Hrafn thought anything Nuri's presence, it wasn't much. If he could read minds he'd probably think Drogon was being rather childish, though the Blood Guard's being here here was rather curious.
With a shrug, the raven flapped his wings a few times, but only stayed airborne long enough to find a perch on Drogon's shoulders. If the lion cared, he didn't show it.

Ilizi, keen to scout out the area and search for clues, sprang across to check the dusty ground, looking for any marks that might have been carved into the ground by a Nergui scout. She could no read the symbols herself but she was certain she would be able to recognise one of the strange scriptures if they turned up.
"You'll know if you see one." She continued. "It'll be sharp and jagged looking and in a design that can't be mistaken for something just sharpening is claws."
And, eventually, someone would find something.

First person to post can 'discover' the rune.

Not seeming to mind the raven, the spotted lioness walked in a random direction. She looked at every tree and rock, trying to find... SOMETHING. This wasn't easy, like finding a springbok in a herd of gemsbok. The things were so tiny, they got lost when mingling with the bigger animals... She let out a huff, then looked up at the raven. "I don't suppose YOU have some insight?"
Baa ruffled her feathers, looking around. After a moment, the raven fluttered down, poking into places Nuri couldn't. She popped her head out of a bush, looking a bit flustered. "Nothing, nothing!" She fluttered back up to the lioness' head, turning around and around, before suddenly stopping. After a moment, she leaned down and whispered something in Nuri's ear, pointing with a wing. Whatever she'd Seen, it was that way.
Nuri smiled, reaching up and patting the raven. "Good girl, Baa, I'll give you some choice pickings from my next meal for that." As she began searching where the bird had said, her paw brushed something. On closer inspection, she found the mark to be unusual... Ah, she knew that mark! She leaned back, calling out to the others. "Found something!"

[Closing post]
Heartened, Ilizi darted forwards to stand next to Nuri, extending her neck and peering at the mark. It meant nothing to her. Just as it would mean nothing to everyone else collected here. Marks like these were secret and unique; signatures, as it were. But there was no telling whether it was a sign made by the one they sought, or one left for him.
"Well, that's something, at least."
"Yes, it is, isn't it." A voice said from somewhere behind them. Ilizi startled and whipped around, her fur bristled and fangs bared. And then, quite suddenly, the threatening expression turned to that of shock and her whole body seemed to go very still.

The large male lion, decorated in scars and eyeing them with subdued amusement, stood quietly for a moment, surveying the group. He'd been watching them for some time now, calculating and judging. He knew the two adult male lions instantly. Young and strong and so clearly branded by their mother's markings. Mchawi's spawn. His spawn. His sons. They had done well coming all this way, though why his spouse had chosen to send the abomination, he did not know. This was no place for her. That Mchawi placed too much value in her. But that was a conversation for another time.
"It seems my cover has been blown." He continued, that easy smile still on his maw. "But who am I to make you trek in vain. Here I am."
And behind him lurked another. A hyena. But it was clear she was not venturing any closer than need be.
