Virtus was struck with the impulse to apologize, but he had to remember his training. He could not stop to say sorry, because this was what he was supposed to do and they had agreed to fight. So it meant the other was willing to take any hits that Virtus was able to give.
Usually he wasn't able to, but maybe since powering up he was able to actually hold his own in a fight.
Maybe after it was over he'd be able to apologize? He was not quite sure how it would go but he couldn't plan for the future when he was barely keeping up with the present.
He moved to try and take advantage of their fall, swinging for Athene's face while he was still adjusting to catching himself in the fall. He shoved every other thought out of his head except the fight and his promise to actually win one. That was the most important thing right now.
He could do it.

Although Athene had managed to block the blond senshi’s first punch, he’d been in no real position to block the second. In fact there had been no time for more than an ‘oh crap’ moment before Virtus’ fist collided painfully with his face. It had been a pretty solid punch and Athene gave a cry of pain as the area around his left cheekbone immediately throbbed in pain. His glasses had completely fallen off, not that the dark-haired senshi cared that much considering that his mind was kind busy chanting ouch, hurts, ouch and yet more ouch.

Virtus had never hit anyone that hard before. It shocked him rather a lot, and pain lanced through his knuckles because of it. He was stunned, and that was not a good thing considering he was the one throwing the punches and not receiving them.
He had to follow through!
Virtus did not know what that meant, so he just started swinging. If he could get the senshi down and not fighting any more, then he could call himself the winner and run off. Feeling very guilty, maybe, but he wasn't thinking about that, not yet.
He just wanted to make his fellow Dark Senshi proud, the ones who had trained him and helped him so much. He was not going to let them down, not now. Not ever.

Actually fighting back was pretty much the last thing on Athene’s mind, the dark-haired senshi doing his best to attempt to curl himself into a ball in order to give himself some protection from the taller senshi’s punches. Maybe he should have tried to get up, tried to swing a few punches of his own, but Athene had never been much of a fighter – still wasn’t – despite everything. At one point the dark-haired senshi dimly thought that he’d heard a crunch, maybe even his hapless glasses, but it was hard to care when he hurt from the other senshi’s punches. At this point Athene just wanted it to be over.

Getting a hold of himself, Virtus let out a yelp and pulled himself away from the senshi. He looked at Athene and saw blood, actual real blood, that he had drawn from his attacks. This was not as good as the others said it would be! He did not feel like he had won anything at all.
"I am so sorry!" he panicked and moved to kneel down next to Athene again, putting his hand on the other's head. "Utura Gran!"
His Super level attack allowed him to heal someone a bit better than his first stage one, but the cost was taking a fraction of the damage on to himself. But the pale bruises would at least help him fix his guilt.
He had to go home and fix this. He hated this feeling, this awareness that something was wrong. That he had hurt someone. He needed to talk to the others, to Navi and Remarque, and try to find a better way for himself. He couldn't do this.
This wasn't him.
When his spell was finished and he'd healed a bit of the damage he caused, he took off running. He couldn't say anything beyond yelling 'I'm sorry' a few more times before he vanished down a side street.

Finally the punches had stopped. The dark-haired senshi was dimly aware that the blond senshi seemed to be babbling something, but to be honest all that Athene cared about was that it finally seemed to be over which meant that hopefully the other senshi would go away.
He couldn’t help the flinch when the taller senshi moved closer to him, then the second flinch when the blond reached out – convinced that the other was getting ready for another round. But instead all the other senshi did was place a hand on his head and call out the words ‘Utura Gran’.
Then finally, after a while of crouching by him with a hand on his hair, the Dark Mirror senshi was babbling something more before pattering footsteps indicated that at last the other senshi was finally going away.
It took a while of Athene just lying there curled in his not-quite ball before it sunk in that he didn’t hurt quite as much as he had in the immediate aftermath when Virtus had finally stopped punching him. Not to say that he’d stopped hurting – because it still did – but it was back to more of an ouch, hurts, ouch and yet more ouch type of pain with heavy emphasis on the ‘ouch’ instead of let me just curl up and die now pain.
Eventually the dark-haired senshi would get up and on finding the alleyway deserted take the chance on dehenshining. He’d also managed to make his way home, although he’d yet to think up how he was going to explain what was likely to be a pretty spectacular black eye away to his cousin. It seemed the sound he’d heard earlier had been the glasses as he’d found them broken.
Despite their first encounter ending with no clear victor, it was pretty clear that the victory for this one had gone to Virtus.
