Athene shook his head “To be honest I haven’t got a clue. From conversations I’ve had with one of their members – Remarque – I don’t think it’s all of them,” he bit hip before adding “We have a meeting – senshi and knights together. It was organised by Polaris who leads the team I’m a part off as a way for us to share information with each other” not that much information had ended up been shared due to all the bickering that had also gone on. “But the Negaverse and Dark Mirror senshi gate crashed it and I saw members of the Dark Mirror court specifically going after the Pages.” The tone of Athene’s voice suggested that they hadn’t been going over to have a chat. He frowned slightly “Maybe one of the Knights who have been around could tell you more. You could try Camelot if you encounter him – I think he’s been around for a while and he’s friendly too.”

Something about the way Athene was presenting information sent a shiver down Aventine's back, and she was glad she hadn't been around to deal with that ambush. She knew how to rough a fellow up, but fighting normal people and fighting people with magical powers was a whole different playing field. "Yeah," she said after a hesitant moment. "You're not the first to give me that warning, so I guess I have to take it seriously, now. Of course, you're also not the first one to name-drop Camelot, so he's definitely on my 'Most Wanted' list. Do you have any idea on how I can get in contact with him, or should I just keep my fingers crossed and hope I get lucky?"

Athene shook his head “I’m not sure of Camelot’s patrol route and the last few times I’ve encountered him have been during run-ins with youma. I got the sense that he patrols a fair deal though, so hopefully you’ll run into him sooner rather than later.” He looked thoughtful for a moment and then added “I’m not sure how much you know about auras, but his aura’s really strong – it’d be stronger than mine or even one of your Squires” Athene knew that not all new senshis or knights were lucking enough to get the ‘sensing auras 101’ talk – he certainly hadn’t.

She nodded, trying to figure out how to scare out a youma so she could find this Camelot guy, though was relieved that there was at least something she was familiar with being mentioned. It was a great relief to know that she had (at least the slightest) grasp on auras. "I've noticed a difference," she said, flashing a grin. "And I'm kind of getting used to them. It's kinda hard to imagine anyone having a stronger aura than you, though. I mean—I walked around and was like, 'Wow, who is that guy!?' so, you know."
She smiled. "Thanks—a lot, Athene. Getting into all this stuff, I thought it was going to be—you know, really hard. But you guys actually have a really good support group. It'd be nice if I could just like, clap my hands and summon Camelot or something, but I guess I'll take what I can get. Any little bit of help anyone can give me is one step closer to me actually knowing what the hell I'm doing." She had a good laugh, at her own expense; she was trying—very hard—but piecing things together had been a particularly difficult process thus far.

“There are quite a few out there stronger than me” Athene admitted ruefully as he absently fiddled with his braid. “I'm trying to get stronger though.” His rueful expression turned into a smile. “And you’re welcome. I honestly don’t mind sharing what information I know. I know what it’s like having to muddle through things on your own.” Having spent a fair deal of his time as a base senshi muddling through things on his own he wouldn't wish the experience on anyone. “By the way if you ever want a patrol partner, then I don’t mind patrolling with others either” for a moment he’d hesitated about making the offer, worried that he’d come across as being too forward. “I’m not particularly wedded to patrolling alone.”

'Not particularly wedded to patrolling alone' made Aventine smile and she couldn't help but gush, "Oh, you are just adorable! —In all seriousness, though, someone to patrol with, that would be just awesome. I know I'm supposed to spend more time with Caelian—and she's wonderful, don't get me wrong!--I just have this thing where, I don't know. She was so nice, so…knowledgeable. I'm not sure if I made a good impression—she was there when I first…you know. Aventine'd. I just want to make sure that the next time I run into her isn't a mess. I want to redeem myself, you know? I was…I don't know. Kinda childish? Maybe, uhm. Overreacted to the whole thing badly?" she said with a forced little laugh.
Scratching at her nape, she made sure to still smile, even if she did seem still embarrassed. "But I'd seriously love going out and knowing someone's got my back. Besides—being out here on your own all the time has got to get annoying, right?

Athene could sympathise with the whole reacting badly thing – he hadn’t exactly embraced senshidom himself. In fact for a while after summer camp the dark-haired teen had tried to forget the whole thing. Not that his attempts to bury his head in the sand had actually worked. He gave rueful smile “It’s definitely nicer patrolling with company,” he said with a nod. “And the whole being able to watch for each other’s backs element is always good too.” Taking a sip of the by now lukewarm mocha, Athene mentally noted that it didn’t really taste as good cold. “I don’t actually have a fixed patrol route, but I usually pick up a hot drink from the diner near the hospital so my patrols tend to start from around there.”

'"Oh! All right," she said, flashing a smile as she clasped her hands before her. It wasn't long before she was cracking her knuckles and rocking on her heels. "I'll definitely keep that in mind! I don't have a 'fixed patrol route' or anything, I'm still just kinda poking around the city, trying to figure things out. The world just—and forgive me if this sounds weird—the world just looks different when I'm Aventine. Like, I see things in a way that I don't get to see them when I'm just me. You know. Not powered up or anything. Maybe it's just all this adrenaline running through me, but things just feel more exciting, more alive. Things smell nicer, colors look brighter—it's just amazing, I can't get over all of it. Well. Amazing, minus the youma. I could live without them. But all the people I've met? It's just like, wow. This is all real. I can't tell—what do you think it is, more like a dream or a nightmare? Or just…something else entirely?"
She wasn't meaning to ask silly questions, but even with the time she'd invested as a page, she still didn't know just exactly how to view these changes. There were good and bad—but did one outweigh the other? Was there some mistake in all of this? Should she be happy or hesitant?

“I guess it feels like a bit of both at times” Athene said after thinking on it a little. “On the one hand I’m stronger when I power up” the idea of him as Arian being able to building jump and swing a parking meter like an oversized bat was pretty laughable. “And there’s the whole thing about magic being real” talking cats weren’t exactly run of the mill after all, neither was being able to use magic. “But it can be horrible too” and the dark-haired senshi wasn’t just talking about the youma, after all seeing someone’s soul crystal (starseed) yanked out was horrible too. “But I’ve met some really nice people too, people I probably wouldn’t have met if I hadn’t had a talking cat give me an over-sized magic pen and explain that I had this alternative identity.”

For a long moment, Aventine considered Athene's words, and then nodded. She could certainly see where there were pros and cons to the whole gig, though her opinion was heavily skewed in favor of good. She hadn't seen anything too horrible—sans a few battles. She'd been in fights before becoming a page of Venus, and so far she'd come out with nothing more than bruises, which meant that the pros were outweighing the cons—massively.
"That's…all of them, good points," she nodded. "Meeting people, getting all this 'magic'" —she'd yet to actually get any magic of her own, sans a fancy power up—"and cats. I do like the cats," she confessed, grin on her face. "So I guess…I don't know. I'm just trying to settle in. I want to be good—do good—but it's like. Wow. I'm taking this worse than Harry Potter, you know? I'm getting over it!" she insisted. "It's just…one small step at a time."

“That makes sense” Athene said nodding “Everyone seemed so much better at this than I was when I first started out doing this and then there was me and it felt like I was just stumbling along. But then you get better.” He gave a rueful smile. “Not to say that I’m actually brilliant at being a senshi now” because he wasn’t. “But I’m a lot better than when I started” at least he thought he was. “I guess that it’s the same way for most of us” after all they couldn’t all start out perfect. Fiddling with his braid, Athene absently listened to the soft ‘click-click’ of the beads braided in as they were pushed together as he added “It’s like you say – one step at a time – but I’m sure that you’ll be a good Knight.” His quiet voice was sincere.

Aventine looked at the senshi and then couldn't help but smile. "Ah, I'm sure you're better than you give yourself credit for, Athene. You seem like a sweet guy, and I think I'm really glad I ran into you tonight. You made me feel a lot better about all of this."
She wasn't a very private person, nor one that appreciated personal space as much as she should, so it was without the faintest hesitation that she leaned over and gave Athene a friendly hug. "And cute, to boot. I could get used to this gig if I got to spend every evening with a guy like you." She threw in a wink for good measure, retreating to put just the slightest bit of distance from him. Her smile never left her face, and she seemed far more mirthful than when they'd first met.

“I’m glad I could help a little.” Athene had found his own introduction to the world of having a powered alter-ego pretty overwhelming and the mostly having to bumble around on his own hadn’t helped. Somehow, by trial and error, he had managed to pick things up here and there – heck with ********* help he had even managed to upgrade a rank – but at times it had felt like much more error than trial and it wasn’t something that the dark-haired senshi would wish on any fellow senshi or knight. The hug took him by surprise. Maybe it shouldn’t have – despite the fact that Athene probably could have counted the amount of touchy-feely people he’d come into contact with on two hands prior to his move to Destiny City, the dark-haired senshi had run into a few touchy-feely people both powered and unpowered since then. However despite Gigi, who the dark-haired senshi considered a god friend and Sutai who was one of his fellow Shepherds, Athene was still awkward about the whole thing, evidenced by the awkward and totally self-conscious if gentle pat on the arm that he gave Aventine in response. “I’m glad I ran into you too.” And despite his awkwardness over the hug Athene’s voice was sincere. Okay so they hadn’t literally run into each other, which probably wouldn’t have been much fun, however Aventine came across as an okay person and Athene had been enjoying their conversation. It was relatively late though and Athene was aware that he should probably be thinking of starting to head back home. Tomorrow was a school day and it was probably a good idea for him to get home before Saffy got back from her late shift considering that his cousin had no idea about this aspect of his nocturnal activities and he wanted to keep it that way. Kyuseisha no Hikari We can probably wrap this up in a post or so, sorry about the delay with the tag back

A little bit was probably an understatement, though Aventine just smiled as she took a step back from the hug. It was clear that she figured it to be late, and tonight had gone well enough that she could knew she'd be able to go home and feel accomplished. "You've given me plenty to think about, so I think I might head home and process it. But I definitely want to catch you around again some time, so keep your eyes open for me! And you have a good evening and keep yourself safe! And warm! It's starting to get chilly, so don't be out too late and catch a cold."

“I should probably be heading home soon myself” Athene admitted, the lateness of the evening not lost on him. “I’ll definitely look out for you when I’m out on patrol” he smiled “And thank you – please keep safe too and I hope you have a pleasant evening yourself.” After a quick wave farewell to the Venus Page, Athene let his feet set a path for home. With the warmth of the Summer evenings little more than a memory, the dark-haired senshi was grateful more than ever for the pants that his upgrade had gifted him with – so much better than the shorts and t-shirt ensemble that he’d been stuck with last year. It had been a quiet patrol, but Aventine had been welcome company – definitely a friendly face that he wouldn’t mind seeing again. Kyuseisha no Hikari closing Athene post - thank you for the fun rp :3
