Freya’s flung eye scream missed, because Hel rolled onto her back and snorted in laughter at her sister’s tone and words.

Oh gods. Oh gods. She was just way too amused at this turn of events! It was so odd how life worked! Hel couldn’t even be mad that Freya was so concerned about Kettil when she just broke up with Herryk…no, she was so amused! It wasn’t like she had any room to judge, anyways. Seriously. Look at her track record.

Oh, you do not see him for oh…a few days and now you are worried!?” Hel was cracking up bad, laughing. “OOOOOOOOH MISTER KETTIL OOOOOOH~” The ghoul wailed in a mocked pitch voice. “Where ares yeh, Mister Kettil! Bring yehr owl, I need yeh ~! Meh body is readeh ~ !”

It was debatable. Hel was either the best sister ever in Halloween…or the worst.

It was official. Hel was the worst sister in Halloween.

Freya ignored her sister's rantings, prodding the eyescream angrily, until finally she took another spoonful and shoved it angrily into her mouth. "WELL THANKS FOR ALL YEHR SUPPORT HEL IT WAS REAL HELPFUL YOU CAN SHUTS UP NOW."

She wanted to bite Hel's ankle. It was pretty close.

"Jack-damned brat.." She grumbled, poking the eyescream with her finger now. "He's my best friend." And that was all. Freya was done with stupid things like love.

..And that felt familiar.

"What about yeh, little brat? How's yehr love life?" As if falling into step with her past self, she immediately tried to change the topic by getting nosy with her sister's mistakes.

Hel just laughed and laughed, until it finally died down. She propped herself back on her hands, giggling a bit here and there before it eventually calmed into a tame expression. Hmm…yeah, she was failing miserably in the help department. But man…did she ever own the mock department. “No, I have not seen him since I walked in on you two almost sucking each other’s face off ~ I honestly do not see him all that often, just so you know. Besides, he is not my best friend, and thus it makes no sense for me to keep track of him.”

Hel rocked her feet back and forth idly, until Freya’s next question.

Oh. Well…

Hel couldn’t help but smile. A stupid, wide smile as her eyes lidded. Someone was pleased. Way too pleased.

Magnificient.”

"I asked yeh if he was here when yeh gots here, was-"

Freya stopped cold when she saw that face. That face. She was both happy to see her sister so pleased, and scared of what exactly would make her little sister make such a face. So she very carefully asked, and hoped for the best..

"... Mot?"

Nooooo, he was not here when I got here, okay? I have not seen him at all.”

Oh…uh…

Hel blinked, and her smug look immediately disappeared as she stared at her sister. Hrm. Oh…oh…

Oh.

Well then.

This was…huh…

Hel had a bit of explaining to do…well, in reality, she had a lot of explaining to do. Where as before she was sure she was never going to tell her sister what had transpired once…she felt like now she needed to be honest with her. One hand came up to scratch her cheek.

No.” Was all she said, and that simple word seemed rather harsh. “…Ah…I have a tale for you, sister…”

If there was one thing Freya could use right now, it was a story. She loved stories. She instantly wanted to tell Hel the story she'd just heard recently, but then the brat would ask her where she'd heard it, and all of that would start all over again-

"Tell me, then. I am not goings anywhere." And indeed it was true, the longer Hel distracted her, the more she was eating that eyescream.

Hel released a breath, and her expression sobered as she pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Where to begin? This was a bit of a convoluted story, and so much seemed to blend at times, that Hel had to wonder what was going on in the past.

Mot and I…we fought a lot, sister…and not the good kind of fighting.” She smiled a bit, though it wasn’t in amusement. “The hurtful kind. The kind that made you feel like absolute s**t afterwards. We fought like that a lot. I made him upset being myself, and he made me sad being himself. For a long while, I believed that as long as I stuck to it, that as long as I just tried, everything would work out in the end…but…that was not so. After so many fights…Mot decided that we should…ah…take a break from each other.” Hel made air quotes. “It broke my heart…”

The ghoul trailed off, her brows furrowing. Ugh…this was so not the part she wanted to tell…but…it had to be said. Freya was her sister.

I was like you right now…minus the crying.” She stuck her tongue out at her. “Depressed, saddened, hurt…and then Mac showed up, and he offered a chance to get away from Amityville for an evening at his aunt’s home, which I took. Anywhere but here, and with a good friend who understands me…well…” Hel reached up to rub the back of her neck, before she steeled her expression.

We made a mistake…we ah…had too much cider to drank and…” So many different ways to phrase this. How did Hel want to punch her sister in the proverbial gut? At least she was looking at Freya as she said this. “Weeeeeee screwed on his Aunt’s couch.” As if that wasn’t bad enough… “…Mac was dating a ghoul at the time too.” Oh gods.

Regardless, Hel then leaned over to grab a fistful of her sister’s hair, and her voice got stern.

Also, I am not done talking yet, so you do not get to fly off the handle.” She hissed.

At first, as Hel told her story, Freya felt nothing but understanding for her sister. All that she explained of her situation with Mot.. Hel had to know that she knew exactly how all of that felt. Freya put her spoon down in the eyescream, and curled her legs up underneath her. It was startling, for two people so different, to have relationships that sounded so much alike.

But the moment Freya heard Mac's name, she was on alert. Mac. The boil who just wouldn't die. She tensed when the story turned to him, and it only got worse from there, but she didn't react until Hel dropped the bomb.

Freya stood up straight, looking like she was about to destroy the room all over again. But before she could do a single thing, Hel had her by the hair, and all the spitfire ebbed out of her with the pain of it.

"OW OWOWOWOWOW DAMNIT HEL OW-"

Hel understood how to handle her big sister.

Sit your boney a** down! I am still speaking!” Hel snarled, and gave one harsh yank on Freya’s hair to pull the ghoul back down.

After that, Hel released her hair, and resumed. “We did the right thing after though…the next morning, we told his ghoulfriend what had happened, and that we were sorry…and I told Mot…right after Prom, actually.” Hel sighed a bit, resting her head in her hand. “As you can imagine, it did not help matters…at all. He was mad for a while, and would not forgive me…but he came around one day...he forgave me, he said he still loved me and wanted to be with me…and we agreed to be more open and honest with each other…and things…seemed to be looking up…” She smiled a bit before it faded. “I wanted him. Physical attention…the urge, the desire…to be overwhelmed by another…”

Hel clenched her fingers. “But…because I loved him too, I wanted him…and I had him…and I felt happy, and I felt like this was another obstacle we had managed to over come, and that we were working our way towards a better, stronger relationship and then…not too long after that…He said he did not love me anymore.” Hel sighed again, her lips twisting. “He swept the rug right out from underneath me, sister. I had no idea…that he had come to this realization before he dropped it on me…I had been so hopeful…and then…I was just angry. Angry and hurt.” Two things a Brynhildr should never be, because it leads to disastrous results. Battle of the Bands, case in point. “It felt like my world had rained down upon me…because I had…” She looked frustrated, at herself, “I had built myself around him…and that was stupid.” She laughed a bit.

“…Time passed ya know…the hurt became less and less…and I thought about everything a lot. I realized something. We just…were not meant to be. That hurt so much.” Hel laughed again. “But it was true. He is not what I want or need…and I am ill-suited for him as well…and now, Freya? Honestly…I can not believe I had wanted to settle down with him at some point. It is not that he is not worthy…he is…for someone…just not for me. Now…I feel more like…his mother…ha!” She laughed again. “…He thinks I am tiring now, and that I make him uncomfortable…and he had wanted to give up on me…even as a friend. How can I want to spend my time with someone like that? I keep asking myself but…for some reason, Freya, I feel like I can not give up on him. Not in a romantic sense, mind you! Any of that heated love I felt for him is gone now. Gone for good. But I want to see him succeed as a being…and I will keep pushing him along, because I know he can do it. I will be the bad guy for him, so that he can be a better being…”

She leveled another glare at her sister, and threatened to grab her hair again.

I am not done talking yet.” But Al wished Hel was

Freya slammed back down into the ground, too stunned that her sister had just WRESTLED HER HAIR to really argue, when the story continued. Freya listened, but there was a scowl on her face now, and she rubbed her sore scalp.

The story didn't let her stay mad for long. As it continued, Freya went from angry, to downright melancholy. All she could think about was Herryk, even as she listened to her sister's woes. How she'd built herself around him, just like Hel had with Mot.

Had it all been a mistake, too?

Hel seemed better for it, but she wasn't Hel. She refused to believe that she would ever feel so.. so healthy about the situation.

It was time for more eyescream.

She pulled out another spoonful, jutting her lower lip out as her sister threatened her. "I didn't says anything." She growled, but the pout remained, and she couldn't help herself. In a very quiet voice, Freya whispered into her spoon.

"Is hard to believe the hurts will ever lesson, though."

You serenade that spoon, sister.” Hel commented, before launching into another post of word vomit her story again.

“…Ah…I must confess something else as well…” Hel rubbed her cheek. “…I am not a good person, Freya.” She grinned a bit now, looking up at the valkyrie. “But I have come to accept this. It is just who I am…because…after that one evening with Mac I…I wanted him again, too…and I even made him an offer…while he was still ah…dating…to keep it secret, but he turned me down. Recently though…he broke up with his ghoulfriend and…well…” Hel’s brows furrowed, before she shook her head a bit.

“…We are ah…that term I have heard about here…friends with benefits?” Hel rested her head in her chin as she looked over at her sister. “And I like it, a lot.” That was an understatement, but she figured Freya would get the point. “I like Mac a lot. I think…he is one of my best friends…a true friend. I can be myself with him, and he will get mad at me, but he will still deal with me…and he was there for me when I was going through those rough patches with Mot…and he is always brutally honest with me, which I truly appreciate…” She tapped her fingers on her cheek. “…But in addition to that…I am just…attracted to him physically. It is a terrible pull…” She mused, and then leveled another glare at her sister, her hand falling from her face as she straightened.

So that is why, if you even lay a finger on any hair on his head…if you harm him in any way, I will end you! That is not a threat, Freya, that is a promise!

Freya rolled her eyes at her sister's sarcasm, and put the spoon down in the now half melty eyescream. She thought the story was over, but oh, no. Her sister had much more to tell her.

So much more.

She wish she hadn't.

"MAC?!" Freya screamed, scrambling up to her feet again. "MAC?! MAC??!! MAC?!?!?"

Freya's head looked like it was about to explode.

But even as she freaked out at her SISTERS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE TERRIBLE TASTE IN MEN, there was something that stuck with her. Something she wished she hadn't heard, so she could rant and rave about how stupid Hel was.

Mac was there for her when she needed him.

"Mac." Freya spit out angrily, even angrier now that she couldn't REALLY be mad at him. She slumped down on the floor, and convulsed in disgust. "I lays my fingers on all the hairs on his head. HE'S A BIG BOIL HEL. He can takes care of himself." Freya let out one, final, frustrated scream.

"MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC."

Why did Hel ever entertain the slightest hope her sister would be rational? Stupid dumb hope. Freya scrambled to her feet, and then Hel scrambled to her feet as well, growling as Freya exploded. Her fists clenched tightly and it was easy to tell that with every curse of his name from Freya’s lips, Hel’s short fuse had been tampered with and them some.

After that final scream, Hel just wasn’t going to put up with it anymore. She decked her sister, right across the jaw.

CUT IT OUT!” She screamed back. “No! No you will not lay a finger at him at all! I will not let you! I will break all your fingers, I will break your hands, I will break you!” She stomped her foot, and reached out to grab Freya’s hair again, tugging on it to pull her closer to her as she leaned over her sister. “I am happy right now! Happy, Freya! For the first time in a long time! It may not be right, and it may be twisted, but I am happy, and I will not let you ruin it!”

Kettil had been in his room listening to his music reading a small comic book - something he rarely did - and trying not to think about current events within his life. Basically, he was trying to move on and heal. Was he worried about Freya? Certainly.

He wasn't in any condition to help her right now and thus he was trying to 'heal' as fast as he could so he could be of help to her or at least that had been the plan before he heard her screaming a familiar name - it rose above his music and rang down his spine but not in a pleasurable way.

What had happened now? Had Mac tormented her again?

...Kicked her door down again after he'd just fixed it? Kettil took a second to mourn the possible loss of a door he'd fixed as he drew himself up and soon was out of his dorm room and approaching the room where Freya and Hel were currently having a 'meeting of the minds' behind a thankfully still fixed door.

Kettil reached up and knocked on the door while the other hand opened the door a crack, just in case, "Hey, Hey. Everything alright?" His tone was concerned yet oddly tired and worn, he hadn't been doing much sleeping lately.

No, everything was not all right.

Freya's head snapped when her sister punched it. There was no more sweet sisterly love for tonight, it seemed. When she grabbed at Freya's hair, Freya did the same, but there was almost none of it TO grab. She settled on trying to tug the short locks, and the two were caught in a hold of ridiculous proportions by the time Kettil arrived.

He, however, was ignored.

"THIS ISN'T HAPPY. YEH DON'T KNOWS WHAT HAPPY MEANS IF YEH THINKS LETTING THAT NASTY BOIL BETWEEN YEHR LEGS IS HAPPINESS. GODS HELPS YEH, HEL, GET OFF ME!"

Oh, look, Kettil was there. Freya let go of her sister, but only after punching her once in the stomach. She felt it was fair payment for the sock to the face.

"Enough." She huffed, sniffing and rubbing her sore jaw. "I don't even knows why we're fighting. Is not like Mac doesn't comes into my room in the middle of the night and assaults me. Go punch him, if yeh feels so strongly. But if yeh don't wants me wailings on him, then tells yehr little boil teh stays outs of my rooms, and outs of my way."

She gave Kettil a cursory glance. "Hey."
