The kit's face beamed. She had indeed been very lucky to come across this nice mister, and in her naive little mind was already raising hopes of having him as a father. Surely he would like her mother, right? After all, Avani did think the world of her mother. She was very shy and quiet, but did dote on the only child. And she was a great cook, too! Avani knew that the kitchen was where her mother was the most confident. Maybe she could somehow arrange Théo coming over for dinner? She was getting way ahead of herself, but children were prone to dreaming, were they not? "I-I'm really starting to l-like you too, Mr. Théo~" she said with a smile, pushing her glasses up her nose a little, something she often did when flustered.
She felt a little guilty for taking so long to decide where to head, but whenever she quickly glanced at Théo the older male seemed amused enough. She didn't want to bore or frustrate him. After all, that's not what a proper lady would do.
"I n-noticed that the leaves are a d-d-different color there", Avani then responded to his question as they began to walk. "Th-there might be something i-interesting, m-maybe even something ma-magical!" magic intrigued her so much. And it was seemingly everywhere.. she wanted to learn as much about it as she could. She wondered if Théo had any magic of his own, but decided to save that question for later. Surely she'd get a chance for it eventually.
As they approached the spot she'd picked, she noticed that some of the leaves were indeed rather strange colors. Not like the normal fall foliage.. these were a rather deep crimson, some even purple!

Magical? Théo pursed his lips, nodding while contemplating Avani's words. He personally did not think much of magic since he was a kit, but Avani was still of that age when everything was magical. He knew there was magic out there. He was simply more willing to put his money on nature's own magic for the color of leaves. Théo wouldn't douse her curiosity just yet, though.
Théo observed the leaves as they arrived at the trees. He noticed that they did, in fact, hold an interesting color. He wished he knew more about plants to inform Avani on these trees before them, but he did not. He knew someone who did, but Hawthorn was not here.
Théo let out a whistle and followed the tree trunk closest to them up toward the leaves. "Now that is a beautiful color." He looked back down at Avani and smiled. "Don't you think? It's not a color you see every day on leaves. Shame they aren't usually this way all year long."

((my muse came backkkkk ;v; ))Avani was sure she sensed some kind of residual magic emanating from the spot she had picked. Maybe there was an artifact of some sort there? She had been practicing and training very hard to strengthen her own magical abilities - and the ability to sense magic, too. She'd learned that you could sometimes find it in very unexpected places, which of course excited her. If there really was something left here. and not just some remains of a wayward spell, it would be an awesome discovery to tell her friends about!
She did agree with Théo's comment on the color of the leaves. Summer was pretty, but fall brought so many wonderful colors with it, too. "I-I wonder if th-there are any trees t-t-that have pretty colors a-a-a-all the t-t-t-t-t-time?" she wondered. "B-b-but I'm p-pretty s-s-sure I sense some m-m-magic here. It's f-faint, b-b-b-but there's s-something, alright."
She began to circle the few trees and shrubs around the particular spot, looking them over, trying to see where the color was the most vivid, and also attempting to sense where the energy she felt was the strongest. The little kit's tail wagged excitedly, and her glasses almost fell a couple times when she looked down too quickly.

Théo was caught up with the color of the leaves and, at first, didn't catch on to what Avani was saying. He nodded unconsciously, the smile still lingering on his face, before the kits feverent movements caught his attention. "Magic? You can sense magic?" Théo couldn't help but scrunch up his nose in bewildered curiosity. Had he managed to stumble across a magic user?
"Sorry, but I won't be much use when it comes to finding magic." He chuckled at himself, looking embarrassed at being useless for once. "I'm about as magical as a rat." Théo watched Avani wander around before eventually shrugging and joining in on the search. "But maybe I can help see if there's like, a wand or something that is making this place magical."
Truth be told, he felt a bit silly. While Avani might have been sensing things or might have just been following her own imagination train of thought, Théo was looking at nothing but grass, trees, and bushes. Granted, it was all very beautiful, almost breathtakingly so... Maybe that is what the magic was doing? "Magic sure is a curious thing..." Théo muttered to himself.

The girl sniffed about, fervently searching for whatever may have been laying hidden there under the leaves. "M-m-mother d-doesn't have m-m-magic either.. b-b-but b-because I w-was b-b-born from m-magic, that's w-why I h-h-have some i-in m-m-me", she explained somewhat proudly. Indeed, having no father, and possessing such curious physical traits, Mirali had had no other explanation for the child's birth than magic. The kit's mother was no witch herself, not at all, but in a kitchen one certainly could call her a wizard! Avani was sure Théo would also come to love her mother's cooking when they finally met. "B-b-but h-her c-cooking is m-m-magically g-good!" the kit added in a light tone, stopping at a spot by the base of the tree.
She was fairly certain this was where she was sensing the energy emanating from. It was very faint, but definitely there. Avani then began brushing the fallen leaves aside, and when nothing turned up under them, she started to dig. Not quite something she was used to, but every child knew how to dig a hole!
"Aha-ha!" she finally cried out when her claws hit something hard. A bit more of somewhat gentler digging revealed a small jewel. It was similar in color to the surrounding leaves, if even more intense. There was a faint, pulsating glow to it, and it was obviously magical.. but in what way, the girl couldn't tell!
Excited, she held out her discovery for Théo to see. "L-l-look! I f-found it!"
