I heart Gangnam Style and I blame my friends for my addiction.
Haha, I thought the guy in green here was an artist I knew. So when I first saw it, I was like "Damn is that HaHa?!" I almost choked on the water I was drinking back then rofl

I adore Gagnam Style, rofl. Even more so after learning what it's all about.
In short, PSY is presenting a satire on the "Gangnam" lifestyle. Gangnam is a very classy and high-scale neighborhood in Korea, one who people aspire to live in. Think Beverly Hills or someplace along those lines. People there show off their money with frivolous things like being able to go to private beaches, horse racing, night clubs, and other similar things. The video is what mainly addresses these aspects.
In the English translation of his song, he expresses the desire to find "A classy girl who know how to enjoy the freedom of a cup of coffee," and "A girl who covers herself but is more sexy than a girl who bares it all."
The coffee is making reference to how often Koreans, even those who are just scraping by, will spend their money on fancy coffee (Such as Starbucks) just to have that coffee cup as a status symbol and little more.
Essentially, the lyrics show that he's looking for a real girl who doesn't put on a show for the people who she's trying to impress.
And the song is just really silly, and the video is fun to watch. 3nodding
Oh, so that's what it meant. I knew that it was some kind of "thing" about the Gangnam area in Korea, but I didn't really know what the lyrics meant razz I just thought that he's playing around with the growing Korean craze, particularly here in Asia.

Not only is in popular in the US, it's all anyone can talk about in South Africa. I think it's an entertaining song, but I don't understand why it's so famous.

Wow, never thought about it reaching that far rofl Maybe, just as everyone had said, it's the dance that's gotten it so famous.
❝Gangnam Style is actually a satire on the youth from the Gangnam district of Seoul.
In the lyrics, PSY states his desire to meet a girl who is beautiful and classy, yet knows how to let loose and be sensual in the club - essentially, a "Gangnam style" woman. He says he is equally classy, and a smooth guy deserving of such a girl - a "Gangnam style" man.
Yet, in the video, he is doing things that are NOT considered "Gangnam style:" the beach he relaxes in is actually a children's playground, his laps in a pool is actually a dip in a public bathtub, he parties on a tourist's bus, etc.
But since most people do not realize this, the wackiness of his choreography and the song's infectious chorus are enough to catch people's attention. o w o ❞

FWIW, this satirical nature made it all the more amusing for me.
