“However my Great grandfather was a bit of a trouble maker, which was followed by my Cousin and Grandfather, which was passed down to my father and Uncle, we tend to do what we want and the tribe just learned to accept it.” Kepi pointed out. “Besides, even right now the crocodiles are getting ready for their big feast so in fact they won’t really be paying attention.”
She thought over what he had said for a few moments, before deciding how she wanted to comment. “Hmm I suppose it’s not a bad way to go about things, certainly works for others” She finally decided, she didn’t need to add in she found it sort of pointless for her to live by. She had already stated her own personality after all.

"Well one of those intentions I was talking about could probably count as acceptable trouble-making. The other might be pushing the tolerance of others a little farther than it was meant to be pushed, family history completely aside."
Toreth shrugged ruefully, grinning. "Only reason I even follow any of this is my brother. He's a total pushover for the most part and I'm the leader of the group, but he seemed to regard it as a personal mission to teach me discretion and manners." He chuckled. "He says I've got the basics, but I'm still an idiot cause I don't apply them."

“hmmm well of course everyone has different personalities, makes for a more interesting world I suppose.” Kepi mused, luckily this Toreth didn’t seem to be too Boy Scout like in his attitude. Kepi would have probably died. She dealt enough with that part of the spectrum from her younger siblings.
“Mmm I’m the oldest out of my group and my father was the handful in his own group. I basically just act how I want, mother is pretty head strong at all. Perhaps there was no hope at all. However I guess my siblings are more goody two shoes.” Kepi mused and then shuddered as she though of Kateri’s shyness with Oriel’s over protective streak and Oriana’s stupid drama causing nature. No wonder she often escaped from where ever they had decided to spend the day.

Toreth sat, absently scratching furrows into the ground with his nails. "I'm kinda the oldest, but kinda not." He shrugged inpassively. "My dad just took off right after Mom had us, and he had three of my siblings with him. My big sisters and baby brother." The furrows in the earth deepened, the only sign of tension from his otherwise relaxed body.
"It was me, my little brother and sister, and Mom. Dad and the others vanishing was pretty hard on Mom. Kaleth was always more responsible that me, I was more like a protector. We were both clowns, trying to keep Mom's spirits up. Our sister is more.....well, I guess unsympathetic." Toreth shrugged. "She's kinda like a reality check, the one who'll tell you the truth even when it's hard and no one wants to hear it. Not so bad once you get used to her. Also, hilarious to tease," he added, grinning.

“Well on a morbid note I suppose that I can sympathize with you. My family for about three generations wrote the book on Drama. Sorry about the old man running off, definitely feel for your mom but it sounds like she made it through with at least some of her spirit intact” Kepi pointed out. She wasn’t sure how to really respond to the whole thing, if one wanted comfort in her family they went to either one of her aunts or her grandmother. Definitely not her she didn’t do the whole sappy try to make you better crap.
“When we where born none of us really look like either of our parent, it was almost a scandal considering how dominate my grandfather’s genes are. There was almost a rumor that mom went out and slept with some one else. In fact today my youngest sister still thinks our father believes mom did such a thing, which is stupid in my opinion as they completely are lovely dovey. It’s kind of sickening to watch some times but hey what ever gets them happiness I guess. So I guess no family doesn’t have some sort of skeletons in their figurative dens” Kepi stated shrugging.

Toreth didn't respond at first; he'd actually gouged up a small chunk of the ground. Yea, his mom had managed to ride through the whole damn thing. She might have even been fine, but then the b*****d (Toreth refused to think of him as a father at this point) had shown up and raised Mom's hopes sky-high again. Only to have them come crashing down when the b*****d vanished again. No happy ending with her three missing kids either. There was no doubt they were all related, their patterns were that telling, but there'd been nothing but hostility between those three and his group of sibs. And distrust for their mother. Then two of them went and vanished just like the b*****d. Oh, one hung around and seemed like she was making an attempt to get to know Mom, but Toreth wasn't sure he really trusted that sister either. Mom broken, family broken, all because of that piece of scum who'd left them.
At this point Toreth had to extricate himself from his thoughts; there wasn't a whole lot that could bring his temper forward, but this was one of those things.
"Wow, that's gotta suck," he said. And he meant it. "My siblings and I are a mixed basket, a bit of one parent and a bit of the other, though usually favoring one of them."

Kepi watched him react to what she had stated and figured there was a bit more to the story than he was telling however like she had previously thought she wasn’t really a psychiatrist or anything like that and didn’t try to really fix problems. After all there where others way more suited for it than her, she was the one that came if you needed some one beat up or to scare monsters from under your sleeping place. So if he wasn’t going to delve deeper she wouldn’t pry him, first of all she didn’t really know him well enough to even think she would understand his situation at all and she would probably make it even worse. After all everyone had skeletons in their closet or would get skeletons in the closet, those who didn’t ended up shallow people. She looked over at the river again and noticed the crocodiles in the river where getting more restless. She hoped Toreth drew himself out of where ever his thoughts had brought himself and soon. She had a feeling that they should probably leave this area soon.,
“Yeah it sucked while I was a kit I guess. I didn’t understand the tension that was between everyone. Then I grew up understood it and realized I didn’t really care. Things had calm down for the most part and the tribe moved on due to new members and our elder ascended. Speaking of changes we better move soon… this place is about to get really crowded.”

Toreth tilted his head. "Ascended? That makes it sound like he died. He didn't, did he?" He was pretty sure this was a common enough word in relation to tribal goings-on, but Toreth didn't know a whole lot about the way tribes worked. His mom tended to avoid the topic if it was ever brought up, except to apply caution.
"Croweded how," he asked, head still tilted and expression still puzzled. It probably should have shamed him a little more that all it took was two sentences to confuse him, but he'd already accepted that his vocabulary wasn't really the greatest.

“Well I guess his life in the form you and I are in is over. Basically ascending is when the modeity decides you’ve past their test or what ever and upgrades the elders form” She sighed wondered why in the world she was explaining this. She had never had to explain this much about the tribe in such little time, Toreth not being the only curious one as of late.
“Its obvious you haven’t been in this type of desert recently. The uh prey animals are pretty ravenous when it comes to food so they follow the rain, it rained a couple of days ago and this place gets flooded with basically a stampede of them, it becomes rather dangerous.” She sighed explaining his second question.

Toreth raised an eyebrow; Kepi's explanation didn't really seem to make anything clearer "Sooo, did he die," he asked again, knowing he probably sounded a bit dense but prefering that over pretending like he understood.
"I did mention my brother and I had only recently just visited, right," he said in response to Kepi's statement. "We're still learning the land." He looked around, trying to see what Kepi was seeing. "How do you know they're coming here? What do we do, just keep clearn of them once we spot them?"

“Nope, he was alive during the whole process however he did say it hurt a bit from the sudden growth. “ Kepi stated tolerating the questions this once. She was in a fairly amenable mood today and could handle some questions.
“Well in visiting a place like this you’re gonna want to learn fast” Kepi stated, and then looked across the river. You could almost feel the ground vibrating. She knew the other side of the river had to be. “I know because of the grass, when a prey animal lives out in a desert such as ours it tends to follow the rain since grass like this grows. Well if we spot them in time we avoid them. They’ll be on the other side of the river and we’ll definitely see them”

Toreth glanced over towards the river, eyebrows raised. He didn't see anything wrong, but he certainly felt a small twinge of unease that he couldn't explain. Probably better to give Kepi the benefit of the doubt; she did live here after all, she should know what she was talking about.
"Okay, so what do we do," he asked.

Kepi sighed and thought about what was the best course of action. “Well I guess you are technically a guest to Kemet and it wouldn’t be good if I got you trampled. Horus would look down on that. So I’ll lead you to somewhere a bit safer” Kepi finally decided. She didn’t like babysitting others, or to the rest of the world leading others around but he hadn’t been to annoying.
Now all she needed to do is find the place to go.

Toreth shrugged. "You really don't have to lead me somewhere, if it's such an inconvenience to you." He raised an eyebrow. "Just because I'm new to the desert scene doesn't mean I'm a helpless infant that needs sheparding and looking after."
He couldn't have said why, but the attitude he was getting from Kepi, like this was an unpleasant chore but something she had to do, stung just a bit.
"Plus seems to me that if I'm in danger you're also in danger. Looks like it's less of you leading me and more of both of us getting the heck outta here."

“Not really I probably would have stayed away depending on my mood. I’m just being a bit more cautious today” She mused and then shook her head. She could tell Toreth was picking up on her mood and she shook her head. She supposed she could put a bit more effort into not making Toreth seem like he was a chore. After all he hadn’t been annoying or if he was he wasn’t too annoying yet.
“Nah I might not seem like it but it is sorta my job to make sure the other scouts don’t come across dead bodies. Not to say that you would end up dead. Never meant to make you seem like you where a squirt.” She finally stated towards his first comment. “If you where a baby the desert would have swallowed you up. Its not exactly a calm serene place. Besides everyone pretty much gets that treatment from me”
