Danny frowned, but her head remained on his shoulder. She wasn't sure what liabilities meant, but the rest of it made sense. Roch beat people up and almost killed them. That was simple to comprehend.
She knew Roch wasn't bad now. Maybe ... had potential to be bad, but wasn't bad now. Really she only had one question. It was quiet, not above a breath; she knew they were outdoors. People might hear. "Have you ever ... killed a guy?"

"No... but I thought about it," Roch admitted. "I came here t'get away from my dad, but the one I really needed t'get away from was Fang," he said quietly. "An' I didn't even know it. Jack I was blind. He ain't... he ain't stable," he told her. "One minute he's grinnin' like the whole world is praisin' his name, the next he's flippin' tables and tryin' t'kill people."
He felt like a loser, though... like a coward. He'd walked away from the Fang problem and didn't plan on dealing with it until he was forced to. But wasn't that the same with other problems? The horseman symbol, the tracker thing in Amphi, the--

Danny let out a deep sigh of relief. Thinking about killing was okay. Well, sort of not okay. Just not actually doing it.
Her arm snaked around Roch's as she said, "Well ... that's okay then. I think about Edel dying a lot- does that count?" She smiled to let Roch know she was kidding. She just didn't want Roch to frown so angrily. Anything to make him smile.
"Well you're away from him now," she said, cheek pressing into his arm now. "So why'd you go visit him?"

"Because... I finally saw it," Roch said. "I finally saw how much he screwed up how I saw life, an' I wanted t'ask him why he did it," he told her. "But when I got there... all I realized was that he was jackin' insane." He sighed. "I ain't sure... why I didn't see it before," he admitted. "I ain't goin' back... not ever again."

"How you saw life?" Danny asked, eyebrow cocked. Was there something special about Roch's view that she wasn't getting? She'd never thought him much different. A little rowdier maybe, but still Roch. Still good.
Unfortunately for Roch, Danny wasn't really getting the sentimentality of what he was admitting. "Sooooo your friend dude person thing was crazy." A smile cracked across her face. "That's it? Your big confession?" She actually laughed and added, "Woooow so deep Roch."

He looked at her, seeing how it had gone over her head completely... and being happy over that face. "Yeah, that's it," he said, rather than explain again. "I got a psycho b*****d in my past." And he would stay there, Roch decided. As far as Danny was concerned.

"Paaaaast," Danny reminded. "No big deal unless he's here. If he's here I'll just kick his butt." She nodded sagely, assuring Roch that she would indeed do it. "Though I guess I could just kick yours again."
She snickered and said, "Nahh I'll spare you. You told him he was a jerk though, right?"

He thought back to the moment the table had hit the mirror, the way all the boogies had raced forward to stop the were. "You'll never meet him," he said quietly, seriously. "Ever. This is somethin' I dealt with." And would deal with in the future if the problem came up again.
He let out a loud sigh, his head thumping against the side of the shack. "What about you? Did y'figure out the whole problem with Rikki?"

Danny blinked, not really registering the protection in the statement, but at least acknowledging the intent. She moved a little closer to Roch, squishing right up against him in an awkward side hug. "You don't gotta deal with it yourself," she said quietly. "I really can kick his butt."
That was all she had to offer. She released Roch relented back to just sitting next to him with her head on his shoulder. "Mmhmm we're good. The horseman kissed Rikki, not the other way around." A wistful smile came on her face and she said, "'Sides, you know I like him too much for a kiss to stop it."

"I got NO clue why," he said. "He's flat as a board, and short," he teased. "I definitely wouldn't date the guy." Ha. Ha. "Jack, it's been a long week. Hey, y'hungry?" he asked her. "Cuz I could go for some pizza."

"Hey!" Danny refuted, "That's my boilfriend you're talking about." She smacked him in the stomach, since it was in clear range. "He's way hotter than you!" She stuck out her tongue and let go of her hold on his arm and shoulder.
She kicked back and said, "I dunno, you want pizza?" Danny looked over at her friend and said, "Oh yeah, did you fix your ... whatever it was with Amphi?"

"Eh, I gave her a hard time, it was fun," Roch said. "Can't really yell at her, it's sortta like what you said Rikki did, right?" But without even the kissin' thing," he finished. "Nah, we're still good. Wanna invite them? We could go to Spooks."

"Okay, but I get to call Amphi!" She already hit the call button on her phone.
When had she even taken that out ...
