That made sense, though Yin did not exactly go to formal functions to need such table manners. But he was perfectly happy to eat his food. It was delicious, and he was well used to raw food as he did not have a kitchen, though he did prefer his meat lightly cooked when possible. But she seasoned it perfectly, and the cubes were almost addictive.
Oh no, he had upset her. It was a bit hard following her but it sounded rather like Rikki. Not really knowing what the booth was, a surprise...but it..it hurt?! Yin's face darkened almost immediately. He did not like to leave the school, not for a very good reason, but this certainly sounded like one.
"Who did this to you," a rather cold edge to his voice. He was ready to go out and find himself a horseman. No one should treat a nice ghoul like Miss Xiu-Ying that way.

...Ah.
Xiu's eyes widened in alarm at the sudden change in her friend's expression. She was quick to shake her head, holding up her hands in an attempt to reassure him. "A-ah, there's no need to worry, Yin. While it did bother me a little at the time, what's done is done, right?" She paused, and then hastily added, "I cannot recall what his name was anyways."
Or...it was "Soren" or something, right? Not that that mattered right now. Clearing her throat, the baku decided it was time for another topic change.
"Ah, I've been meaning to ask since I bake so much...but are there any particular desserts that you are fond of? I wanted to make something for you for dessert, but I didn't want to make you sick or have you eat anything you don't like out of courtesy, so..."

Of course Miss Xiu-Ying remembered Soren, it was impossible to forget him.
"It is still not acceptable," Yin said with a frown, but if she could not recall him..."If you see him...point him out to me?" Not that they went that many places together, but if Yin just knew who he was...
The topic changes were fast and furious, but they helped. "Dessert?" He looked a bit startled at the question. "Um...I guess if I find any spiders they are a treat, but I do not know if any baked things to specifically eat at the end of a meal...but really, I am fine Miss Xiu-Ying. You should not have gone through all of this trouble for me already."

It was impossible to forget him, but not for a good reason.
Breathing an internal sigh of relief, Xiu nodded quickly. "Y-yes, of course. But thank you for your concern, Yin," She tacked the last part on with a sheepish smile, lifting a hand to rub at the back of her neck, "You really are a good friend."
And she would beat up anyone who said otherwise.
As for dessert...spiders? Her thoughts immediately flickered to her spider demoness friend, and the Baku bit down on her bottom lip to suppress the grimace. Well, different races ate different things. It was a pity that he couldn't think of any baked things though. "It wasn't any trouble at all, Yin Cang! I mean, if anything, I should be apologizing for showing up unannounced like this."

Miss Xiu-Ying seemed to really consider it okay, and he would let it drop, though he was not sure about it. That she said he was a really good friend was a bit embarrassing, but he was not going to point that out or it would just be even more awkward.
"There is no need to apologize Miss Xiu-Ying. I am glad for the company." Well, the company of someone that he knew. He reached for another cube, waiting before popping it into his mouth to ask her a question. "And how have things been for you, Miss?"

It was still a little strange, she found, to be called "miss" after knowing Yin for all this time, but she knew that the boil was just more comfortable with using titles. "Mmmm, I've been alright," She answered slowly, wrinkling her nose, "Though lately I've begun to wonder what I'm going to do once I graduate from here. I think...I might have settled on a plan though."
She paused to take a sip of her tea, her smile wry as she set the cup down. "Time here certainly passes quickly, doesn't it? I feel like I was a first year not long ago..." Xiu suddenly frowned, furrowing her brows as she lifted her hand and set it on the top of her head.
"I certainly haven't grown since then."
