Ami said, "Well my shift is over, Ofelia, but I'll be back with your books. Unforunately you don't have visiting hours until 6. I'll come back then." She wrote a few necessary things down on Ofie's clipboard and then left. No warning, no goodbye, just up and left.
---
The life hunter kept her promises though. At around 5:45 she debated abandoning Ofelia altogether and wiping the sun hunter from her mind, but even Ami had a guilty conscience.
So in the door she came as Ofelia's room became open for visitors. In her arms she had two books, one a collection of America Poetry, and the other a Norton's Anthology of both poetry and short stories.
"Ah ... are you awake?" Ami realized the girl might not even be awake with the drugs she was being given. Whoops.

Ofelia was awake, but just barely, and she had her face looking out towards the setting sun among the misty island. Laying there, silent and pale with a serene expression, she almost didn't look at all like herself. It was as if she wanted to give up, to just let go and maybe stab herself in the throat, but that all faded as she turned to look at the approaching voice.
The look on her face that made her look so much older than her years faded, returning youth to her skin, and the teen groaned as she reached for her phone. It'd been taken from her grasp by one of the other techs, something about her not needing it, and so she had to fumble to get it back.
Unfortunately it dropped out of her reach, landing on the ground.

Ami gave Ofelia an "are you ******** serious?" look. Really? Dropping her phone? She could have just buzzed in for an assistant to get it for her.
Now feeling a bit grumpy, she plopped the two books down on Ofelia's lap, whether it was painful for her or not. Ami wasn't a life tech at the moment, so she wasn't required to be gentle. She then picked up the phone, and handed it to Ofelia.
"I brought your books," was all Ami had to say on the matter. She was beginning to think this was a colossal waste of time.

Well Ami didn't look happy, not that Ofelia was sure this girl even had a spot in her body where happiness could reside, but none the less the teen mustered up a thankful grin as the books were dropped on her (she winced but played it off) and her phone was unceremoniously handed to her. Taking it and turning it on to the notepad, a text was quickly typed in.Quote: thanks are there any you recommend reading first Ofelia was probably going to take her time, all her time, and read them so carefully that she and Ami would have something to talk about next time and maybe they could be friends.
Ofelia also sort of thought that Ami didn't have the capacity to be friendly but that was a thought she put aside for the time being.

"Keats is the archtypical high school study." Ami had these books memorized front to back. Of course, they weren't her favorites- no one was allowed near those, but she at least knew these ones quite well. Keats came to mind first because he was easy to understand, and Ami enjoyed it well enough.
The next one was obvious too. "Donne is my favorite though. His sonnets are good, but his nature allusions have yet to be outdone." A soft smile came on her face that was so seldom seen on her face these days. Above all things, Ami loved literature. She dedicated her life to it, pre-Deus after all.
"He's hard though. You won't get it the first time through." She thought for a moment, and carelessly added, "Of course, that's the point."

Oh s**t she smiled. If Ofelia wasn't already sure it was the drugs making her see things she would have reacted but thanks to the serious amounts of whatever in her veins she kept the most amazing poker face ever and instead typed out a reply. It was really amazing to see Ami sudden act like this, considering she'd thrown the books onto Ofelia's lap, and the teen had to be careful not to get the smile to turn into a nasty frown.Quote: thank you i will read and treasure these Now, really really really now more than ever, she would need to read them and do her best to memorize them so she and Ami could talk more. She liked her fellow redhead's smile, it was soft and pretty and made her look so much nicer, so if talking about books did all that then dammit Ofelia would learn to talk books.Quote: how should i return them to you when i am finished That..uh...could take a while.

Ami cocked an eyebrow at "treasure these," but it was quickly diminished when Ofie asked when to return them. Good, they were under the premise that these books were Ami's. As long as they were clear, Ami couldn't care less.
"Just bring them to this lab," Ami said, writing a small note in her journal, and then ripping out the page and handing it to Ofie. "Take as long as you want." A pity gift from one lame hunter to another.

Ofelia took the note and opened one of the books, setting it inside the cover. She was getting sleepy again, not to mention she had a lot of reading ahead, and she typed out another message.Quote: thanks again perhaps when im done we can discuss some things It was a total shot in the dark. A one hundred percent shot in the dark.chimarii you can end this in your next post, or i can in mine <3
