Cordelia hadn't meant to upset Ethiriel in any means, but she just wanted to be sure she understood the question properly. After all, it wasn't everyday that someone asked you to describe yourself, appearance or otherwise. Then again the basilisk could never understand the utter frustration that came with not being able to see properly.
"Hmmm...well I guess the best word to describe me would be black. Like my hair is black, my wings are black and even my clothes are black. Really the only thing about me that isn't black is my skin which is like a fair olive tone. Ummm...to be more specific my hair's pretty long, but I usually keep it up in a ponytail. My wings are like clusters of blades and are really sharp so I got to be careful when I'm in tight places and stuff."
Delia scratched her head trying to think of what else she could say about herself. "Oh! And I have these black scales all around my eyes. Here, you can feel if you want." Now the snake probably should have asked first before grabbing the Frei's hand and pressing it to the scales on her face, but that was Cordelia for you, highly excitable. "Cool huh?"
At first Ebony didn't understand what Leo meant by his question. Wasn't it obvious? She was there because of work, same as him, duh. But then he continued and it dawned on her that he meant what brought her to Gaia. "There wasn't anything left for me back home and I had always had fond memories of Gaia. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of places have you traveled to?"

It wasn’t so much frustration that prompted Ethiriel to ask; Cordelia was so dark in appearance the poor Frei couldn’t make out hardly anything at all about her other than the faintest hue of her skin. While the movement itself wasn’t displeasing, the suddenness of it startled her just a bit, her features tugging into a slightly negative expression until her fingers met the scales in question.
Once given the chance to calm and her hand was free to feel without being forced, the tea Frei ran her fingers delicately over the rough patches, a smile forming on her face. Ethiriel had always enjoyed most every texture she had come across, almost like seeing with her eyes, and she’d yet to feel anything like this and it was honestly pretty exciting, whether or not it showed through expression or action. Her fingers, however, eventually did travel downward onto Cordelia’s humanoid skin, the stark difference almost heavenly to the touch. ”Extraordinary…” she said through a quick hum, still idly trailing down the girl’s cheek.
”Oh,” Leo spat, somehow surprised by the question. He’d been more intent to listen than speak but given the invitation he wasn’t going to turn it down. ”I never really left Gaia but I’ve pretty much been everywhere. My father’s a lawyer and we did a bunch of traveling for cases. I came here ‘cause I was tired of not having a home.” His tone was blunt, almost listless, but if one knew him well enough they would know that he did care about the conversation. He was just really bad at showing it.

When Ethiriel smiled, it made Cordelia's chest burst with warmth and pride. Forming a connection with someone new was hard enough as it was, but someone who couldn't really see who you were or what you were doing was even harder. Luckily though the basilisk always had a way about her, a certain charm or aura if you will, that drew people to her.
Smiling back as the other finished her investigation of Delia's scales, "It's really interesting how they're rough, but silky and smooth at the same time right?" Now curious, the snake eyed what she could only assume were the other Frei's wings. They looked like branches of a tree, but shone and glittered like metal. Cordelia wondered what they felt like, more bark like or smooth like polished silver? "Say Ethiriel, may I touch your wings? They're so pretty."
"Mmm, that's rather lacking in details Mister Gaiten." Ebony mused with a teasing smirk. "It's quite all right though. I understand if you weren't particularly interested in any other places other than Gaia." Stopping, the Brit pointed at a shop window. "Was this the place you were speaking of earlier?"

”Indeed,” Ethiriel mused, her fingers still resting gently upon the basilisk’s cheeks. ”They feel quite nice.” While staring straight forward toward Cordelia, her unfocused eyes rested on nothing and everything at once. Just by glancing, one could have assumed it was a very intimate moment for the two.
It took a moment for the question to sink in, but Ethiriel gave a contented nod in permission.
”I apologize,” Leo chuckled, offering a small shrug. ”My father never really went out of Gaia for cases so it’s not that there was no interest – just no need. And yes, that’s the place,” The photographer smiled as he nodded toward the building that Ebony had pointed out. ”I don’t know about their full menu but I do enjoy their wraps and salads.”

The Basilisk's face lit up with extreme joy when Ethiriel gave her silent approval for the girl to touch her wings. Ever so gently, as the appendages looked so delicate and fragile, Cordelia traced her fingers along one of the silver branches. She couldn't contain a childish giggle at how much it felt like touching an actual tree. The color really was deceiving! Though it didn't feel like any type of metal she'd come across before, Delia thought that maybe it held some properties of the material at a deeper level of which was not immediately seen by the naked eye.
When the snake was done inspecting the other Frei's wings, she simply took her hands away and beamed at the other girl. Breathing, "Thank you. They are lovely."
Ebony nodded in understanding then. Of course, the Brit had assumed too much, what else was new? Feeling another wave of awkwardness coming to the conversation, the purple haired woman quickly ushered for her Raevan to join her so they could all go inside. "Right then...shall we?"

Their meal was enjoyed with much discussion – at least on the guardians’ part. Leo had never been too much of a talker but it wasn’t difficult to keep up conversation. They talked about many things; jobs, life, nature and, of course, the Raevens that they knew and cared for. Unfortunately it was a shorter list for the tea Frei and her caretaker, but it was nice to hear about those they had never met. It gave them something to strive for, something to look forward to. There were so many things in Ethiriel’s short life that she needed to participate in. Surely they would happen soon.
Even after their meal they sat and chatted; Leo having been a regular at the diner was welcomed to stay as long as he liked, his guests included. Every once in a while, their waiter would bring them fresh drinks and appetizers for once their hunger rose again.
It was a rare occasion for Leo to not grow bored of another’s company, though he was becoming exhausted in conversation and had little to say. They stayed for a bit longer before the photographer decided it was time to call it a night, at least for himself and Ehiriel. Ebony and Cordelia were thanked for their time together, as well as having numbers exchanged for future reference. It was a lovely night and surely they would meet again.
