"Doctor, huh? That's impressive, man." He rolled his shoulders, limbering up. "Me, I come from the south. Used to do home inspections. I went to college too, but I just had, yennow, an associate's. In business," he added. "Nothin' really, uh, combat heavy, heh. You got any family back home?"

"h...home inspections...." Jason coughed, holding one hand over his moth to try, try his best not to laugh but it was impossible not to with the mental images. "I'm....s-orry..." He let out a few chuckles. "It's just seems far out, to grab a normal office worker and throw him into this."
"I do have some family, I have a mother and father, and a few aunts and uncles..." he sighed. "I sometimes wonder if they do miss me, or if they're glad I was finally out of the house." He grinned nervously. "I came from a very religious family, so my talk of seeing demons freaked them out. I can't tell you how many times they brought exorcists over to try and 'rid me of the evil possessing my mind."

"Haha, 'far out' is def'nly a good phrase for it," he agreed.
Wash's brow wrinkled. "My family's real religious, but my mother, well- she dabbled in th' 'occult'." Air quotations. "Believin' in spirits n' all that. My father didn't hold no truck with it, but he let her have her little indiscretions, I guess." He shook his head. "My mother, she always thought I was gifted. My father, he jus' thought I was seein' somethin' I didn't have the words for. Intruders, and the like." His dad had always blamed the human element; but in the end, his mother had been far closer to the mark. Strange, really.
"I learnt to stop talkin' 'bout it early on, it seemed to only upset 'em." He paused, and shook his head. "I'm sorry, man, didn't mean to bring back bad memories."

"It's no biggie" Came Jason's reply as he listened to Wash's background. The memories held no solace for him, but it did bring some measure of comfort, to know someone whom had similar experience to him. "I had to stop mentioning it as well. Or face a monthly baptism in a freezing lake on a Sunday." He sighed at the memory.
"What did you do when the...shadows came near?" He asked, trying not to betray his lingering discomfort. "I mean when you were little."

"Heh, well, nothing like cold water to scare the devil outta you, I guess." Friendly clap on the back.
"Oh, well," he said, and his brow furrowed in thought. "At first, I used to try to...tell them, what was happenin'. I think they mostly just thought I was makin' it up, until stuff started movin' round my room. My father got so upset he sold our house- after that, I tried to keep it to myself. Didn't wanna cause more hardship. My brother and sister could see them too - but, well." He made a face. "They embraced it more than I did. Said they was 'gifted' with the 'sight' or some such nonsense. I wouldn't call anythin' a gift that left you that miserable, but what do I know?" Wash let out a longsuffering sigh.

"I can assure you I am quite free of evil spirits...well, except one" he laughed.
The moon hunter then fell silent."....a gift, huh?" Jason eventually replied, shuddering. "They must of been lucky, for every time I went out side when it was dark, or when I was about to fall asleep, I could see them reaching for me..."
He coughed. Clearing this conversation was getting a little too dark for his tastes. "Erm, well thats all in the past. How about we do something more, lighthearted, like practicing our techniques?"

"Yeah, yeah man, sure." Wash paused for a moment. "I don't really see a lot of benefit in these dummies...Wanna practice on each other?" ...That didn't sound right.
