N'mol was pleased to see Kindra smiling as they landed. The sound of her laughing was another good sign and N'mol felt a brief moment of relief. At least today it didn't appear that Kindra's old temper or her (their) devotion to their work would be taking over. If she was already laughing, perhaps they would actually be able to take a break.
It felt odd to think that way, but N'mol knew that everyone needed a break sometime, and that included himself. In a very short Turn he had become a Wingleader, taken over the broken bits of two wings, and was effectively serving as... well, not Weyrleader, but the male authority figurehead for Benden while they were at Trine. With all of that on his plate-- badges to his hard work, admittedly, which made both N'mol and Tyeth preen with pride-- it made sense to give the command that his wing have a good time today and then get to having a good time himself.
He dropped down off of Tyeth and let the Bronze turn his attention to Suunath so the dragons could find something to do on their own while he went over to escort Kindra.
"Ready to go find something fun to do?" he offered, smiling down at her. It was good to see her smile without reason. They'd both been overwhelmingly serious lately.

[Siata]
Siata snerked, shrugging big shoulders. "You should've been keeping watch there, Carltis One Eye. How's that doing, by the way? Not too horrible?" She squeezed his shoulder before dropping her hand, thumps hooked in the hem of her pants. "You should know I'm a simple woman. I felt like harassing you is all. It's weird to spend a few sevendays trapped together and then not see anyone. I've managed to say hello to Adi and Kleos. Now you. It's like a reunion."
Rochelle popping up surprised Siata somewhat - as did Carltis' reaction of a nearly smile and rather friendly (for him) welcome. Kleos saw her vomit, and she witness Carltis and his Heroic Breakdown back in the Weyr; things were even, sort of. "Hey there, pretty lady. How're you?"
-----
[Rochelle]
"I'm good, Siata!" Rochelle grinned back to both of them, nose wrinkled. "Eventually you won't greet me with 'oh, it's you', seriously. You are a weird man, Carltis, I hope you know that. Also, this Gather is depressing. Have you seen Aleck?"
Nevermind that, there was another question and an attempt at a wink ... maybe. "Oh, yes," And at the mans question, she flung herself at his arm, clung to it - him - with overly fluttering eyelashes. "I have come to watch you perform at your peek of strength, to watch you manhandle others to the ground. My abdomen burns with feminine desire for your muscles~" She all but crooned the words, a noise that died to a slow smile. "No, but really, I'll totally watch. You'll kick some a**, right?"

Chrysicai
Vanity, and Shopping, generally weren't words in Cai's vocabulary. (Ok maybe a little vanity) But after weeks of owning nothing but the clothes on her back, the young healer apprentice was about to snap with the need for basic essentials. Thankfully a few marks rattled in the bottom of her satchel and as much as she was loath to part with them. New clothes were in order.
There was a high pitched trill as her baby green flit zipped by overhead. Images and feelings of People! and Things! and Smells! radiated from the hatchling as she sang her excitement. Cai wrestled with her own mouth, trying not to grin. Two short whistles brought the green back to Cai's forearm where she was rewarded with all the rubbings. "You behave and I might get you something as well understand?" Trills and chirps answered her and the milky green slid down her arm and onto the satchel, nesting herself on top of the closed bag.
It was already getting crowded, a fact that admittedly surprised Cai. How could you be crowded outdoors? In the confined bowl of Benden or even the cliffs of Malvren she could understand but the vast amount of people now living at Trine really hit home in a situation like this. Hopefully she'd be able to slip her way in, get what she needed and slip right back out without too much trouble. There were always things to be done after all and partying really wasn't one of them.
------------------------------------------ Zarike
Much like the little green flit that circled his head, the 11 turn old boy was running about on a surplus of energy, bumping into people left and right with casual called apologies trailing on the wind after him. He just had to see EVERYTHING and everyone! A spin past the harpers had the boy laughing as he waved to those he knew. While he was technically an apprentice, instruments weren't his forte. He hadn't found anywhere to specialize in the craft yet, mainly due to his insatiable need to know a little bit of everything, but also because he not-so-secretly harbored the desire to be a dragonrider when he came of age.
Finally the boys progress ground to a sudden halt. He'd caught sight of the netted off portions of the lake, it was almost amazing to be able to see the surface moving with the schools of fish beneath. It was too tempting to the young lad. He HAD to go investigate.
----------------------------------- Dizzian
The gather appeared to be in full swing already as she finally made her way from the Weyr proper. She'd washed and got herself dressed up in the best outfit she had remaining. (much of her extra clothes and blankets had been donated to refugees who needed it more than she) One might think she was taking hints from a certain friend of hers when it came to style, judging from the airy tunic and long flowing skirt in shades of blue. Much different from her normal attire of whatever shirt she could find and britches that weren't too dirty. Her newly short hair fluttered around her face, light enough to be caught by the slightest breeze.
Courath moved slowly at her side, wing still in a splint and bound to her side. The young green's movements were freer than they'd been in days but her long road to recovery wasn't near over. They skirted the outside of the crowds. Dizzian wasn't about to risk letting Courath get jostled about and injure herself further. She squinted, trying to recognize any faces at a distance. It was difficult with so many new people about.

Kindra positively beamed when N'mol strode over, here she was, about to have a day off, shells knew she needed it. She longed for Benden, the safe stone walls around her but she'd settle for N'mol next to her. She was glad he was in a good mood, she moved over to him and took his arm with a grin "Ready as ever!" she said, looking over her shoulder to see Suunath turn away to pay attention to Tyeth, well she'd greet any dragon that said hello but perhaps because of Kindra's attention to his rider, Suunath had more of a soft spot for the big Bronze.
She took a deep breath as they walked, trying to remember to just.. enjoy the day and not overthink it. "Bubbly pies..... i want bubbly pies" she said suddenly, she hadn't had any since she was little, since before her mother got ill and she craved them all of a sudden. She actually laughed a little, not some forced giggle she would have uttered, simpering for some good looking boy, but a genuine laugh of someone truly enjoying the company of a good friend.

Vanity (at least in the physical sense) and shopping weren't usually in Kleos' vocabulary either, but she was also tired of having almost no possessions to her name. She had come out with a few special keepsakes, and with her marks thanks to Ice and Moss' efforts, but not with any clothes or other items. This gather would give her a chance to rectify that, as well as lifting her spirits.
For the time being she was merely browsing, seeing what was on offer before she committed to a purchase, but she was distracted from her quest by a familiar face. "Cai! Hail!" Smiling broadly the blonde hastened over to the former Benden healer apprentice; for some time she had been one of only two healers with them in the infirmary, and she had admired how well she had performed under such pressure. "I hope this day finds you well," she added to her greeting, giving the young woman a polite little bow to boot.

N'mol
"Well, let's see what we can do about that. I don't know if we'll see any at this Gather, but let's visit the food tables first. If we're lucky, they might have a limited supply and we can each get one for ourselves before they're all taken." N'mol realized that he and Kindra were among the first group to arrive when they had little trouble navigating their way into the Gather area. It looked like those who had chosen to come to support the weyr were more plentiful than he had expected, which was good. At least the people of Pern still supported their riders, even when others turned against them. They couldn't turn down any allies now.
N'mol nearly shook his head at himself. He couldn't help it, he supposed, but perhaps he could avoid doing it too often if he could distract himself with spending time with Kindra.
The food tables were still being set, but N'mol spied the pies being brought as they were walking up. He paused at an empty stretch of table, waiting.
"See? Perfect timing. It does look like a limited supply, but at least there will be some, and we got here early enough to take advantage of it." He smiled at Kindra, glad he was able to cater to this whim, at least. It would start the Gather off on the right foot, and he foresaw a very long celebration if everyone else was as tired of being sad and stressed as they were.
-------
Orlina
Orlina joined the Gather with several friends she had made among the Candidates with her bright smile, daring ideas, and .
As they were wandering in, taking in the open makeshift stalls and people, Orlina spied the glittering netted-off section of lake and the boy by it. She tugged on one of her friends' sleeves.
"I'll be right back."
She trotted off with her friends calling questions after her, but this was a trip she had to make. She would find them later, and if she didn't she was sure she would run into someone she knew. It was a big place, but not that big, surely.
The boy staring into the glittering fish was clearly the same one from the day of the Fall. Orlina recognized him from his cheeky gesture on his way out the door. Orlina's fostermother loved using that word for boys like him. Cheeky.
"Now I know you aren't a Candidate," Orlina commented almost shyly to Zarike. The boy was younger than she was, but he was a stranger and she didn't want to make a bad first impression. "What's your name?"

The smith gave Hekate a slow look that suggested he'd seen more flirty chits that thought a wink and a tease won a man over than he'd seen hot dinners. "No weapons, no hittin', no bitin', no tricks," he rumbled, and eyed the silver weyrling making himself comfortable next to his chair like a large hairless feline. A longtime weyr resident, he knew dragons were no threat to humans once Impressed, though the tricksy ones knew how to bend the rules a bit. "Fr'm either 'f y'. This 's wrestlin'." And from the way he said it, it seemed clear he considered it the province of burly men. He pulled a slip of paper from his trouser pocket, scrawled '1' on the wrinkled square, and passed it to Hekate as he gave Z'fer a glance. "Firs' round starts in a candlemark." But the flashy little redhead had drawn attention, from F'ren and others. "Wrestlin' matches," he boomed for all nearby to hear. "Las' man i' the ring wins, firs' prize three marks. No hittin', no bitin', no weapons, no tricks. Startin' one candlemark, sign up here. Name?" he asked Carltis. This was more like it - a good brick wall of a lad, even with the swagger and eyepatch. His bushy eyebrows would have raised into his hairline at Siata's .. shorts if he'd still had one, but he gave the massive woman a vague nod of recognition and fished for more paper scraps to put '2' and '3' on respectively with his stick of charcoal.

Z'fer Seeing Hekate receive a number made him frown. She'd get herself creamed wrestling those other two, even if they were young. The two riders, green and brown by their knots, probably wouldn't take it lightly either. Maybe if he wrestled her...he could at least go easy on the girl, even if he still intended on winning that 3 mark prize. And wrestling her sounded like a fine idea, prize or no prize. "Sign me up too mate." He eyes the other two entrants as he took his number from the wher of a man before them. They were big, but as he'd noted before, young. Which meant he had turns of experience on them, and height too. Though the woman near rivaled him at that. She might put up a fair fight. His arm around Hekate grew tighter, eying the men surrounding them. There was an air of 'mine' radiating from him. ------------------------------------------ Chrysicai Cai looked up from a display of cooking herbs when she heard her name called. It was uncommon enough in recent times to confuse her for a few seconds before she saw the blond head of the crimson rider approach. She nodded and waved, also dipping a respectful bow to the older woman. "Well met Kleos! I'm as well as can be expected. How are you and Moriath doing?" Gingko lifted her head and chirped a greeting but stayed on her perch. She didn't know the woman though Cai had Good Feelings when she saw her. ------------------------------------------ ZarikeTerra had alerted him to Orlina's approach, saving him from the embarrassment of being startled. At her question a lopsided grin crossed his face. He remembered her from before, and the look she'd given him when he'd slipped off with the older boys to haul firestone. "I'm gonna be soon enough!" Was his cheerful response. "M'name's Zarike. What's yours?" He rubbed some of the residual dirt that always seemed attracted to him from his palm before offering her his hand smartly.

Hekate arched an eyebrow when her little remark was ignored by the bronzerider who seemed more intent on getting his own number. Taking her little slip with a one on she tucked it in her tunic.
"Candlemark then? No worries we'll play fair now won't we Devith?" Hekate asked her dragon with a chuckle who rose from where he'd stretched out on the sand to pad his way over to where His rider and Z'fer stood a patch of familiar green catching his eye. Reaching out he nabbed Hekate's sleeve in his mouth and gave a gentle tug.
I believe I see Dizzian and Courath. Let's go greet them and explore the gather while we wait. The silver rumbled and when Hekate gave a slight tug finding herself still stuck fast in the larger man's grasp she gave Devith an amused glance.
It seems I'm stuck. She replied chuckling and shaking her head.
I suppose he may join us as well. Devith grumbled and stalked off Hekate finally managing to wriggle herself loose and grabbing Z'fer by the arm.
"Since you seem to insist on ruining what little reputation I have you might as well come along Z'fer and meet my friend Dizzian and Courath." Hekate joked tugging playfully at the rider's arm as she lifted her free hand and waved at the other weyrling pair enthusiastically. Picking up the pace slightly to catch up with Devith she dragged the man along with her grinning and waving at her friends.
Good morning Courath would you and your's like to explore the gather with Mine and I. Oh and Mine brings the bronze two-legger to greet you and yours. Devith greeting his sibling cheerfully though his tone became a good more grumbly at the mention of Z'fer.
"Morning Dizzian~ Oh I like your outfit." Hekate said stopping just short of her friend and blinking at what the other girl was wearing. "It suits you. This is Wingleader Z'fer from Malvren. Z'fer this is my best friend Dizzian." She added as she introduced the two of them.

Z'fer
Distraction successful. Z'fer grinned down at her. "Oh I may ruin more than your reputation..." Left unsaid were the rumors already circulating about her so called reputation. He'd if anything set that straight this evening when the dancing began. He had a repetition of their first meeting in mind if he could arrange it.
He spared one last glance for the group around the smith before letting her tug him away. He kept a steady pace even as she ran ahead to meet a vaguely familiar young green rider. He'd suspected who Hekate referred to when she brought up Dizzian but now he was able to place a face to the name. And a dragon. The injuries the weyrling had taken and the story of their cause hadn't gone unnoticed either. As much as Hekate talked up the young girl and her supposed knowledge of dragon care, he had to question the intelligence of a girl who would wander out into the jungles at night by herself.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Dizzian." She received a nod and polite smile. "I've heard much about you."
------------------------------------------------ Dizzian
She didn't have to search hard. Before she'd even put any effort into it, Hekate and Devith came running towards them. Dizzian couldn't deny the bubbly feelings she got when she saw her friend. Her arm shot into the air, waving enthusiastically back. Her smile was wide with laughter.
Courath thrummed and her eyes picked up a pleasant whirl. ~ If we are careful I would actually quite like that. I know mine has her mind on spending all of her marks today. The bronze two-legger? ~ Sometimes Devith's terminology confused the little green. It didn't take long to register though as she saw the tall man striding behind Devith's. She sat herself down, curling her tail about her legs and adjusting her free wing against her back.
Dizzian's cheeks turned pink at her friend's compliment. "Morning! And Thanks!" She grinned with pleasure and tugged at the hem of her shirt. She doubted she'd switch to skirts all the time, but having a long hemline wasn't as annoying as she'd thought it would be. At least it disguised the fact that she was still barefoot underneath. She looked back up as Z'fer joined them, her blush deepening and the tips of her ears turning pink. She'd seen him previously of course but now was the proof before her. The man who was not-stalking her best friend. (that comment hadn't gone unnoticed and was infact the cause of much of her blushing) She composed herself and managed to smile at him. "Likewise Wingleader."

Ignoring Z'fer's flirty comment she was happy to finally get her two companions in the same place and even more pleased with how Dizzian took her comment. Poor girl had spent so long trussed up like a wherry Hekate felt she deserved a compliment or two.
"Devith and I had in mind exploring the gather a bit. Would you like to join us? I'm sure if we walk with Courath between us we can keep her from getting jostled any." Hekate vouched seeming to be in an unusually good mood that morning. The crowding and constant stress had been taking a toll on the girl, but it seemed being outdoors and the bright gather air were drawing her out of her shell a touch more this morning.
Would that suit you Courath? I can walk in front of you and none shall dare jostle you for risk of earning my ire. Devith rumbled confidently as he gently nuzzled his siblings neck where there were no bandages to muss. Sometimes it was hard to tell when the silver was being vain or helpful and it appeared the two often went hand in hand.
Turning to Z'fer her eyes sparkling with mischief Hekate grinned. "Would you like to join us Wingleader or will I be seeing instead later at the contest?" Hekate asked drawing his title out in a cheerful tease to the man's ego tilting her head eye him playfully.
"Oh!" And she poked his chest mock scowling at him until it broke once more into a grin. "Don't think you don't still owe me a dance or two on the floor for you little comment." She added her cheerful mood contagious enough it even had Devith rumbling with glee at the prospect of exploring. Over all to see the usually fiery pair so playful was a little. . .disconcerting.
You would not dare stand Mine up for a dance now would you Z'fer? Even Devith rumbled both teasingly and with a slight warning in the man's mind. While the Silver didn't like sharing his rider in the least he knew that playing these games with the man amused her and in turn her various triumph's over Z'fer amused him.

Orlina
His chipper reply immediately flooded Orlina with a sense of good will and her shyness all but evaporated. She promptly clasped his hand with her own delicate one and gave it a good shake.
"I'm Orlina. I'm one of the Candidates from Malvren. The fish look beautiful, I can't believe someone thought to do this. It's so clever," Orlina complimented, looking beyond Zarike and into the gliding school of fish. "Were you going to try to dive in and get one?" She grinned at him. The thought was certainly crossing her mind now and she was certainly interested in trying. Of course, it was probably Not A Good Idea, as her mother would say, but Orlina seemed to have many ideas people didn't always agree with. She managed to have fun anyway.

Eliza & Velath
This..was the greatest idea that someone had had in a long long time! Things had been so incredibly depressing lately that Eliza couldn't think of a better time for a gather, she was sure that a day of fun and good cheer would go a long ways in improving everyone temperament. Plus she really wanted to spend her marks, though she wasn't sure on what quite yet.
"Cooome onnn." She encouraged Ceta, impatiently waiting for her to dismount so that they could go look through the stalls. "We're going to miss all the good deals at this rate!" She further harassed her friend, although her tone was full of far to much good cheer for her to actually mean it. Velath, her chest wound still healing but giving her little worry thanks to judicious amount of numbweed, was also somewhat excited - true it was far to crowded for her to actually walked around with Eliza but she could linger on the outskirts, visit with the other dragons and listen in on whatever gossip Eliza happened to hear. 'Try not to over do it, you know your chest is still healing' Eliza mentally cautioned her dragon. 'Of course Elizamine. I'll just spend time with Halith and the others' She assured her rider.
D'lin & Plexith
Plexith was hardly in the gather mood - indeed the bronze had not been in the mood for much of anything after the beating they took fighting thread, his wounds were still bothering him, though D'lin wasn't sure if it was because they would wind up scarring his hide or because they still hurt from time to time - he rather suspected it was more the dragons vanity since he spent a good deal or time making sure he was pain free. Because of his ill temper and the location of some of the wounds D'lin had elected to walk to the gather while Plexith after a bit of prodding had grudgingly agreed to glide down and settle himself at the lake edge..where he promptly curled up into a ball and closed his eyes to feign sleep.
D'lin himself was still a bit on the sore side, but at the very least he wasn't limping anymore which was an improvement and his shoulder and back wound had been sufficiently padded to keep his clothing from rubbing against it painfully. He'd made sure to slather on a good bit of numbweed before hand as well..in preparation for a day full of walking. Attempting to ignore his dragons foul mood he wandered from stall to stall studying the ware's.
Mercy & Aerith
Aerith was small..and sometimes that was a good thing to be..today for instance it meant that she was able to get much closer to the center of activity then most of the other dragons and while she hadn't been able to actually follow Mercy into the crowd itself she was currently standing on her haunches and peering into the crowd to see what was going on. Once in a while crooning at a familiar face that passed by and readily welcoming the various attention and scratches from the Weyr children who had quickly learned that she was tolerable of such things.
Having left Aerith behind Mercy had managed to weave her way into the center of the crowds. 'They have some sort of wrestling matches set up' She shared with Aerith, though recalling her somewhat terrible fighting attempt back at Malvren she doubted it would be wise to sign up, a sentiment which Aerith agreed with Readily.

Cetalese and Halith
Cetalese quietly dismounted Halith, not rising to Eliza's bait. How she could have marks to spend on anything, even a good deal, Ceta didn't know. Her marks were being stored away for a time when she saw something she really needed or wanted. That wasn't to say she hadn't brought a few marks to the Gather... but she didn't intend to spend many of them.
Have a good time, Cetalesemine! I do not expect to see you until dark, so Velath and I will keep ourselves occupied.
Don't let her strain herself, Halith. Your wounds have healed, but hers haven't. No antics.
Halith assured her rider that any antics would be kept to ones that would not harm Velath, and Ceta was left to join Eliza and enter the Gather together.
"We'll still have plenty of time to visit the stalls, if you want to do that before the deals are gone," Ceta offered, smiling at Eliza. "We can get lunch after that."

[Carltis]
Three marks was a lot of money to somebody with nearly nothing. Three marks was a lot of money to most people come to that, or at least most people in his social sphere. "Carltis," he nodded to the man giving out the instructions and accepting his number.
"I suppose that's true," he nodded, turning back to Siata and her earlier topic of being trapped with people, currently disregarding the woman clinging to him (which was even harder than it sounds). "I've found Roche previously," his head jerked at the curvy glass smith on his arm, "but that's been all." He ought to find the others really, check up on them out of basic camaraderie.
"I've not seen Aleck yet, as you probably just gathered," he went on to Rochelle. "Not sure if gathers are really his scene.... And if you've got a problem with feminine burning you can keep far away from me and go back to see Bereck." He smirked then, but not unkindly. "Anyway, I'm hoping to kick some arse, though I may be let down by depth perception," he tapped the eyepatch. "Part of my disguise, see?" From the eyepatch his fingers trailed along the livid red line of his newly acquired scar; it was still pretty tender at the moment, but he couldn't argue with the vicious effect it gave.
*************
[Kleos]
"Very well thank you," the blonde replied with a warm smile, "Our injuries from the fight at Malvren are near healed now, and Moriath was not too badly Scored during the latest fall.... I say! You have a new friend!" The smile brightened to a grin as Kleos spotted Cai's firelizard. "She is lovely, wherever did you get her?"
Sensing nice thoughts about other firelizards, Ice and Moss appeared and landed on Kleos' shoulder with bright green eyes and friendly chirps for a potential new friend.
