Jaryx cast a look behind him and noticed that the lioness had indeed followed him. He turned back around and spotted the herd nearby. He scanned the members of the herd and tried to figure out which one would be the easiest to get to. He would probably take one of the young ones if Ru'yah wasn't going to join him in the meal. "Do you see any that you want?" he whispered, hoping the wind wouldn't carry his voice to the herd.

"I'm not hungry." She matched the whisper Jaryx used. One of the gazelles rose its head, so Ru'yah slunk lower into the grass, pratically against the dirt. She crawled foward slowly, silently. She'd catch the biggest Gazelle for Jaryx, 'cause he was nice enough to give her something to do. Then she'd creep him out and follow him around until he told her otherwords. It was a nice and simple plan. Or at least, it sounded simple. She smiled at the simplisty of it.

Jaryx nodded as her whispered response. Good, that meant he could go after one of the weaker, younger ones. They wouldn't put up nearly as much fight as the adults. He watched as one rose its head and crouched down lower. He slowly slunk to the edge of the patch of grass that concealed him and waited for the opportune moment to strike.

The gazelle that Ru'yah picked was big, and probabley fast. She'd have to really chase after it, but it'd be worth it. She crawled closer, staying undetected in the fading darkness. She then got ready to pounce.

Unaware of the prey Ru'yah had spotted, Jaryx carefully watched the young female he spied not too far from where he was. He kept a watchful eye to make sure she didn't show any sign that she had picked up his or Ru'yah's scent. He slowly moved closer and got in position to pounce.

Ru'yah lept into the air, claws ready to cling to her prey. She was, surprisingly successful in catching the gazelle. Not right away of course, she merely scratched it's butt. What was surprising-- or perhapes lucky, was that the gazelle was a slow runner. This made it easy for the black lioness to pounce on her prey. She landed on its back, pinning it down before it had a chance to escape. The gazelle skrieked a final time before Ru'yah snapped it's neck. Satisfied by the cracking sound its neck made, she removed her paw from its throat and began to drag its corpse out of the path of other fleeing gazelles.

When the herd started to scatter, Jaryx looked around to see what had put them into motion; the wind still wasn't blowing in the proper way for them to have picked up on his scent. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see something black grappling one of the larger gazelles and watched as it took the animal down. Whatever it was had gotten a pretty decent meal. Jaryx huffed slightly at the loss of his breakfast and turned to see is Ru'yah was still behind him. When he noticed that she was no longer anywhere near him, he turned back to the black lioness he had seen take down the large gazelle. When he took another look, he noticed the bright green paws. He felt his mouth curl up in a small smile; maybe she wasn't useless after all! He slowly made his way over to her as she drug the carcass of the animal out of the way of its stampeding family.

"I got you breakfast." She said after droping the carcass on the ground. That wasn't too much work, but Ru'yah still wanted to lay back down on the ground. After doing a simple chore she could now execute her plan and sit down to watch Jaryx eat. Unless he told her to go away, then she'd have to go and find somewhere else to lay down. For now she trusted that her new cheetah friend wouldn't mind her watching him eat his meal though...

"Thank you," he replied, a hint of respect showing in his voice. Not only had she been willing to help him hunt, but she had caught him a meal without being asked. Though she seemed lazy, she must be very strong to be willing to take down a gazelle of the size that she had. He nodded to the carcass in front of him, "Are you sure you don't want the first bite?" he asked; it was her kill after all.

"Nah, I'm full." She laid down on the grass and placed her head on her paws. Now she was all tired again, go figure. She desperately wanted to sleep now, but she resisted. She still wanted to know how long she could keep up with her simply simple plan, or rather, how long Jaryx would let her.

Jaryx nodded his thanks once again and looked at her. What was she doing? He looked at her curiously and slowly knelt down to sink his teeth into the flank of the carcass. He torn into the meat and tore a piece off for himself. As he ate, he noticed the lioness was still watching him. "What?" he muttered as he licked his lips, waiting to tear into the meal.

Ru'yah rolled onto her back again and stared at the cheetah. He looked silly upsidedown. She closed her eyes for a moment, and when she started to drift off she came up with a reasonable excuse. "You've got blood on your forehead." It wasn't a lie, he did. It was quite big actually, Ru'yah couldn't help but smiled at how ridiculous it looked.

He stared at her, still not completely sure what to make of her just yet. When she commented that he had managed to get blood on his forehead, he took a step back and sat down. He licked one of his front paws and furiously scrubbed at his forehead to try to get the blood off. "Did I get it?" he asked as he put his paw back down; he probably shouldn't have cleaned it off already since he planned to go back to eating but with his coat, he preferred to get the red substance off of him as quick as he could.

"It's kind of smudged into your forehead still." Okay, it was very smudged. But Ru'yah didn't want him to think it looked to bad, then he might forget to eat. Although, the lioness had observed that he didn't look like the forgetful type, she didn't want to take chances. She went through all the trouble of getting his breakfast, she would make sure he'd eat it.

Jaryx growled a little when she told him that the bit of blood was now smudged. He licked his paw a couple more times before attempting to scrub hard at his forehead once again. If he didn't get it off, it would end up drying in his fur. He would go back to his breakfast as soon as the spot was gone. "What about now?"
