That made sense. "Ah. I wouldn't know, really. Atropos has never been heavy for me but she makes me move faster, I think." Which was nice until it came time for a charge, which Atropos was whining for. She really wished Candace would let one off but...uuuuuugh..they usually missed. And it was embarrassing.
"Ah, a golem. That's a shame. He makes such a good princess." She giggled, looking amused until Jordan made his joke.
"HEY!" Candace narrowed her eyes and pouted. "Fine. I'll hit a lady then." She grumbled, trying to look more annoyed by the comment than she actually was. Atropos' gems glowed brighter before Candace darted at Jordan...and..flew right by him. She had to skid to a stop, but the added speed given off by Atropos didn't agree with her and she instead landed flat on her a**.
God. Damn. It.
I hate using a ******** charge they always miss!
Don't hate the game, hate the player. The player being you and the game being the charge. Atropos replied calmly, though her voice shook as she tried desperately to suppress her laughter.
Candace was pouting again like a grumpy child.

"Makes sense. It's why I always advise the fresh meat to listen to their weapons, they know how to help when it comes to learning to fight," Jordan nodded.
He snorted. "Okay, so his wardrobe is kind of terrible, and I admit he manages pink really well, but I'm just not into the dresses," he drawled.
Oh s**t - the flash of Atropos's gems warned Jordan that he was about to get hit, and it was about to hurt; he braced himself ... and caught only the rush of air as Candace darted right past him, lost her balance, and landed hard. "Well," he agreed, "you did, at that." He offered her a hand up; the chain clacked loose in his grip, flicking briefly against her ankle where it hung from his left hand.

"I hate Atropos' charge." Candace grumbled, accepting the help up.
Candace paid no mind to the clink of the chain against her ankle. She probably didn't even notice it. Instead, Candace lifted her leg and slammed it against Jordan's side while releasing his hand. She sighed and ruffled her hair, shaking her head. "Okay, I feel better now. Are you sure you don't want to use Ferros? You nearly broke my leg with him last time and we were just trainees." Effective weapon was effective, broski.

Jordan caught the beginning of Candace's motion, but not in time to dodge the kick; he staggered back, holding his side and laughing breathlessly. "Nah, my pride is badly enough damaged as is. Well, I guess it goes to show that I really need to train more with runics if I'm ever going to be effective with them. We're done; another kick like that and I'll be waking up in the infirmary later."
He shook his head and held out his hand for a handshake. "I concede, with the caveat that I want a rematch when I suck less."

Candace backed off immediately when Jordan spoke. She grinned, her hands on her hips as she stood proudly and victoriously. "Next time we'll both use runics or something, 'kay? Ohhh maybe even just..bare handed sparring! No weapons, no runics. That could be fun!" She actually looked excited about the idea. It wasn't something she'd do right now since they'd just tired each other out...
..Or..well...she tired him out.
But hey! There was always next time! She had a couple other rematches she owed, too. Namely one with a pretty blonde Life division assistant but she wasn't in a hurry for that. It would happen when it happened. She deflated a little at the reminder of sending Jordan to the hospital, giving a soft chuckle and nodding. "Yeah, I'm making a conscious effort not to send people to the infirmary anymore." She rolled her eyes at herself and then reached out to take Jordan's offered hand, giving it a shake before releasing it and letting Atropos desummon. "Good match~. And of course, I'm always up for a friendly spar. And you don't suck, you're out of practice." She shrugged. "Wanna go get some coffee or something?"

"That could be interesting." Jordan considered the idea, looking intrigued. Though he trained daily, most of his combat training was weapons-centered; maybe he was doing himself an injustice by excluding unarmed fighting. No, he thought, that it was really possible to be completely unarmed as a hunter, even if you couldn't summon. The concession made Ferros snort and resettle; the dragon had been growling steadily louder with irritation at the direction of his human's thoughts.
"Good match on your part," he corrected good-naturedly. "I'll just have to get back into practice. And I never refuse coffee. Sounds good to me."

"Always." Candace grinned. She always gave a good match. No exceptions. None. "Was that your first fight since coming back? Don't be hard on yourself. It happens." She shrugged, reaching out to link arms with Jordan and give him a warm smile. "Good. Lead the way, sir. We can either have whatever's in he cafeteria or go back to my place where I have quality coffee. Up to you."
