"Oh wow, that sounds awful." She looked properly sympathetic as he mentioned nearly falling off a roof, and nodded understandingly to the rest of it. "So... you haven't been a knight since you were young?" She was fairly certain he hadn't by this point, but it was best to ask, just in case. Before he'd mentioned about being a newbie and being old, she'd just sort of thought that he'd always been a knight; that was just the kind of feeling he gave off, in her mind. Age and experience, right? "You don't really look all that old though, I think. Well," she considered him for a few seconds, "maybe a bit old, but a nice old, you know? Like... Helen Mirren! Aging gracefully, yeah?" "But I hope you're r-right and I'll figure it out, and it'd be nice if it was like, soon too, but I can live with whenever as long as it's going to happen sometime, you know?"

Camelot shook his head.
"No, I only awakened a relatively short while ago, but Knights had not been called on until then. It was when we all started waking up, I guess." He thought about it, trying to do the math in his head, and figure out when he had actually awakened. It had only been a year and a half ago.
It felt like much longer.
"Well, I'm glad I look like Helen Mirren. Maybe I'll be able to play the Queen in a movie," he said it flatly, then looked at her and smiled. He wasn't insulted, since there was nothing he could do about the facts. And the facts included that he was forty years old, running around and jumping off of roofs.
In armor.
He nodded his head, though, and hoped that she did find her path. It was different for everyone, and he could not tell her what to do. But if he could help her, guide her, then he would offer that. Or just a friendly ear.

"D'you know why you all started waking up, er, kinda late? I mean, the senshi and the Negaversers have been at it for a while, and I don't remember any knights back when I was last in DC." And she was pretty sure she'd have remembered bumping into a knight at the time, but all she'd ever bumped into back then were fellow senshi, youma and Negaversers. Plus Camelot had just all but said that they were fairly new still. For a given value of 'fairly new', at least. Oh crap, she'd really messed up on that one, hadn't she? "Oh no, that's not what I meant!" Vanadis looked worried, wringing her hands and biting her lip, "you don't, um, look like Helen Mirren, a-at all! Well, at least I don't think so, but, but - what I meant is that you, er, aged the same? Gracefully?" The last bit sounded more like a question than it did a statement, but hopefully he wasn't too mad - he was smiling at least, so maybe he wasn't like, super-mad! She really, really hoped he wasn't. That'd be bad. He seemed really nice and it would be kind of stupid to piss off nice people because of a bad comparison. Although if Vanadis had to say, there were worse actresses to be compared to; except it was probably different when you were a man. Ah crap. She unconsciously put on her best puppy-dog eyes, and continued wringing her hands.

Camelot shook his head.
"I don't know that. I am not sure that's a question that can be answered, either. As far as I know, we awaken when we were needed, and I suppose that was when we were needed the most. To help the Senshi."
He did not think they were doing enough. It still felt like they were losing the war to the Negaverse.
Camelot laughed at her comment about aging gracefully, though, and was still not entirely sure it was a compliment. He supposed it had to be better than the alternative? So that was a good thing.
His face didn't look like it was melting off, the older he got, like he saw in some people. For that he was thankful.
He waved his hand in an effort to calm her, shaking his head and trying not to laugh harder. He wasn't laughing at her, not really, but the moment was funny and he couldn't help himself. He had no hard feelings, of course.
There was no need for puppy dog eyes, though he was weak to those.
"It's okay, it's okay, I understand what you mean. I appreciate the thought."

"Yeah, I guess not." Her reply sounded a bit sad; did the knights have as little info as the senshi did in this war? That was a bummer. "S-so I guess you don't have like, a knight-queen or king or anyone leading you? That would be really nice, someone to give us answers." Honestly, Vanadis felt that that was what Order needed most in this war; someone to guide them, and give them the answers they all needed. Although she guessed being on a team might help out with the 'directionless' thing a bit. Hmm. "Or do you guys h-have teams like some of the, um, senshi do?" He laughed. He was laughing. Was that a good thing or a bad thing? If possible she looked even more worried as she waited for him to quiet down a bit so she could figure out if he was really mad at her or just, well, mad in general. He was neither. "Oh, thank you!" Her breath left her in a big whoosh as she relaxed all the tension in her back and stooped over a bit. Straightening up, she put on a slightly watery smile. She'd been so worried! "It was a compliment, really, I swear!"

Camelot shook his head.
"No, no leader of sorts. But there are relatively few of us, compared to how many senshi there are. It's easier for us to communicate, I think. And somehow I feel like knights are meant to work individually, in their way."
To protect and serve, together, united, but each one a soldier.
"I do have a team, though. The Knights of Destiny. We are dedicated to the idea of protecting those that need to be protected, fighting for those who cannot fight. We protect the city, and help senshi as much as we can. I admit, I need to reach out and develop my connections more, but it is my intention to have a unit that people can rely on when they need it the most."
He smiled, enjoying her company and certainly not holding one slip of the tongue against her. If people did that to him, he would have no friends. He was very good at saying the wrong thing on accident.

"Hmm, I guess. D'you think senshi are meant to work individually as w-well?" She'd never really thought about whether or not they were meant to work in any sort of specific way - she'd just been working the only way she could. But maybe there really were like, proper ways to it that she didn't know. It was entirely possible that she'd missed something somewhere, Vanadis couldn't help but think. "Ohh, a team!" She beamed, always happy to have new info about teams. "That's awesome! Are you l-like, the leader? You seem really leader-ish!"

Camelot did not like calling himself the leader, though he was technically. He had founded the team, and it was his responsibility to keep them in touch and united. He trusted them to do their duties, but he needed to do his part as well.
They needed to trust one another.
"I am the leader, technically. I created the team a while ago, though knights come and go from it. We are still connected, though, and I want to help by offering training and information."
He backtracked a bit, though, so he could answer her question.
"I don't think anyone should work alone, but I also don't think that devoting oneself to the idea that a leader could save the white moon is a very safe thing to do. We need to find a way to work with what we have, not hope for something to fix all our problems for us. If we could just work together a bit better, and stop bickering amongst ourselves, I think things would be better."
He sighed, feeling like he was simplifying it but then, it was a kind of simple concept.

"That sounds l-like a good idea! We could always use more of that." She nodded determinedly. "And you're definitely right, about, um, the whole 'magical princess coming in to heroically save the day!!'-thing. If she's not showed up by now, I k-kind of doubt she ever will." Vanadis looked a bit guilty as she shared the last part, as though she was going against some sort of Senshi Code to badmouth the princess. But honestly, the girl - whoever she was - had proven all but useless by now and the redhead definitely shared Camelot's views on waiting around for a saviour that was probably never going to appear. "I don't think we're the only ones who think like this either, because like, I've n-never really heard anyone talk about her all that much. It's kind of hard to feel loyalty to someone you've never even met, y'know?" She scratched her arm and looked sheepish, "although I kind of feel like, um, thinking like this makes me a bad senshi or something. But it's just not good planning, waiting around forever and such. I'm p-pretty sure if we all put our heads to it, we could make a much better strategy for Order!"

Camelot patted her arm lightly.
"I understand the need for some to believe in something, and I do not begrudge them that, certainly. But sometimes I feel like taking initiative for yourself, and uniting with others through that goal of winning this war and bringing peace to Earth, is a little more practical. I always hear senshi complaining that we have no organization, and Chaos will defeat us because of it. I feel that is... a pathetic excuse."
He frowned.
"Though I guess that's a little too deep for this conversation, and it's not something I really want to whine about. I'm sure most are doing everything they can. It's an uphill battle."
"I don't think you're a bad senshi. I think you're right, and I think we're just being a little negative. But if we want to see change, it's up to us to make it." He meant, of course, each of them, not just the two there that night.

"I've heard the thing about n-no organization, too." It was right, to an extent - their lack of any sort of organization was definitely costing them points on the victory scale, but on the other hand, he had a point too; organization was up to them to make, and just saying that they were definitely going to lose because of its lack didn't help anyone at all. "I g-guess we all just need to stop talking about it and do something about it, instead." She hesitated for a few seconds, "actually... I've kinda been thinking about something like that recently. How to help. J-just a bit mind, not like, revolutionize Order or anything, just, y'know." Shrugging, she fiddled with one of her pigtails and cracked a smile. She hadn't actually talked to anyone about her idea yet, but maybe it wouldn't be so bad to tell Camelot? He seemed to know a lot of stuff about the war, and he definitely didn't seem shy about saying his opinion, so if what she was thinking of was totally insane, he'd tell her, right? Looking determined, she made a decision. " I had, no, um, I have, some trouble with learning the whole senshi business and I'm thinking, maybe I'm not the only one, right? So, um, I'd like to do something so other people d-don't have to have so much trouble with it. To make it easier. To learn." She just hadn't quite decided how, exactly, she was going to go about it. Yet.

Camelot agreed, and his expression said so. He was glad she was determined, though she seemed a little quiet and she stuttered a bit. That did not mean she was not destined for something big. And he would support her, if she allowed him to, as a knight was meant to do.
From protecting civilians to aiding each other, he felt their duties were more than similar.
He watched her, listening with interest. She was shy, but if she had ideas that could help keep their team from losing the war, then he was all in.
"I think that would be a very good idea. I know that there are other senshi trying to do the same thing, to help one another, or at the very least gather information for everyone to have access to. But that only goes so far, and being able to talk and train with one another is, I believe, one of the most important ways for us to get stronger. I think you should pursue your idea!"

Vanadis' smile was brilliant in its intensity as Camelot encouraged her to keep with her idea. "Yes! I will! D-definitely, sir." She clenched a hand and held it up in a victory pose, jubilant that she'd finally told someone about what she'd been ruminating on lately, and that that someone had actually told her to pursue her idea! Which, granted, wasn't all that much of an idea at the moment; just a vague sense of what she wanted to do. But it was a direction for her to go in and that, she felt, was important to have. She could work out all the details later - no, she would work out all the details later, Vanadis assured herself. "I, I used to think, like, back when I became a senshi, that it didn't r-really matter what I did. Like... I couldn't be useful to Order because I'm just one person and what can one person really do to change a war, you know?" She smiled a bit shyly, "but I don't want to think like that anymore. B-because it's too easy, thinking like that - it doesn't matter if I win or lose when I think like that, because I'm already losing in my mind. I want to be stronger, I am stronger! A-and I'll take responsibility for myself and my actions, so it'll actually matter what I do! If, if that makes any sense."

"If every one person thought like that, that they couldn't be useful to the whole, then no one would ever get anything done. It takes a brave sort to take the risk, to put a plan into motion, but I think you'll find many others who would want to have something like this available to them. You'll help a lot of people this way."
He smiled and chuckled.
It was far too easy to get discouraged, but it would not be a war if it was easy. It was not just battling Chaos that was difficult, it was trying to find unity within their own forces. A sense of self and accomplishment was important, and he hoped she did well with her idea.
"I look forward to seeing how far you go, my lady!" He said enthusiastically, grinning at her. Her vigor certainly was infectious.

She grinned happily at him, glad of his encouraging words and that he'd understood what she was talking about, even though she felt she hadn't been able to articulate it properly. Even if she was still figuring most of this stuff out, she was glad that she'd decided to share her thoughts with Camelot; she was feeling a lot more confident about this whole thing now. "A-and you too! With your team and stuff. Minus the 'my lady'-part, though. But I'm sure you'll do great!" If she was a knight, Vanadis was pretty sure she'd want to be in his team too; alas, she was only a senshi.
