Okita Shisui, the Terminal Red-Eye Samurai "Born in the wrong age, this world and I are beyond our expiration."He could tell that his words were having an effect on the lady detective, her cringes, her expressions, each of them telling him without a word just how much his stoicism and durability were starting to get to her. He was luring out the best of her, luring out the spells that would drain her the most, and his certainty despite her best efforts had her dancing upon his upturned palm. Of course, he was possible that even if she knew this was his plan, that she had concluded it was still the best odds for a path to victory she had and continued on with it anyway. And even he hadn't been able to anticipate the level of magical power that she had stored up inside of her. Persona Fusion was truly remarkable...a power that, in the hands of the right warrior, might even rival that of his own Master Hetero and the Black Blade himself...but in this girl it was much closer to his own strength than theirs, which was nothing to sneeze at in the slightest. He admired her courage, her power, and even as she raised her gun and fired again, an Almighty power engulfing him that dwarfed the last spells combined, he could raise no complete defense against the tide that overwhelmed him. It was an indescribable feeling being hit by Almighty power...you couldn't call it burning or freezing, cutting or smashing...it was merely impact, power, the feeling of something much, much sturdier and greater than you were washing over you and setting every inch of your body alight with pure, traumatic pain! And no man, even he, could maintain a perfect facade in the wake of her attack...his thin, tall frame jolted upright with the spell, the blue power fading only after a long moment that seemed like hours to him...and by the time it faded and the samurai stood again visible to the fused girl, his breathing had lost its perfect rhythm, his clothes looked a bit tattered, and a trickle of unhealthy-looking blood wound a path down the side of his head.
His hands, however, still gripped his weapon at the ready...loosely, securely...his feet began padding forward after a moment's pause and his green eyes found her, an even greater respect filling him for this girl. To think that such a small frame could hide such explosive power! ...But she was drained now, entirely...a burst of magic that great did not come without a price. And now, he would exact the toll for her gamble.
"Forgive me for underestimating you. Master Hetero's information is far out of date, and not nearly complimentary enough to your spirit and progress as a fighter," he spoke as he drew ever-closer, smooth steel easing its way out of the sheath as he walked nearer to her, black and red blood visible upon his pristine cheek, "I believe somewhere inside of me, I had hoped you would back down without a fight. That was a vain notion. ...Naoto Shirogane, allow me to honor your name in the most glorious way a man such as myself can do so...by showing you no mercy!" Suddenly the walk became a flash, the arc of a sword flashing like a light between the two of them...Okita and Naoto...but no sooner had it completed its arc than the wielder of the sword was far behind his target...blade extended fully behind him, an immensely powerful attack, charged to the heights of its capabilities, having been unleashed upon the Detective Prince in the midst of his calculated attack.
He was not a person who liked to drag out fights unless it was against another swordsman of equal skill, nor did he like to inflict pain upon his foes until they could no longer stand. His style was quick, precise, clean...one cut, one slash, one kill if necessary...though he did not aim to dig his blade so deep into her flesh to kill her. This was not a mercy, for he had never started the battle with the intention to kill her in the first place...and he had attacked her truly, honestly, with the whole of his strength. His control was merely precise, the Brave Blade aimed to leave a bleeding wound from hip-to-side that would disable, but leave the opportunity for salvation once she had collapsed in defeat. He did not look back at the girl in pity, though he did wish he had not come to this part. He did not regret his actions, either, for they were all a part of his mission. This was the path he had chosen, the code he lived his life by...the way of the blade. "Naoto Shirogane..." he muttered calmly, standing again and glancing over his shoulder, flicking his blade to the side as he turned to glance at his opponent once more, "...I will remember the name."Quote: Brave Blade - Severe Phys. Damage - 1 Foe [Target: Naoto]

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Crowley spat more painful words at Sano as he stood there. He cared nothing about his sister anymore so that didn't bother him but to be called weak and a child really ticked him off. It was clear that talking was only going to make him say more stupid things so he would save his breath. ".. Perfect Murder." Shadows gathered around him to form two extra arms and a second Kusarigama in their grasp. The second weapon had the element it was created from lingering within it, darkness. 'That stupid spell of his has made me a lot weaker but it won't mean a thing if he doesn't hit me first!' Aleister Crowley
"Too late." Crowley whipped his arms open as he dashed towards Sano, without anything to fear of the two extra arms and their deadly blade. Instead, he moved in close and leaped above Azrafel, a wicked grin on his face. "Crimson Shredder!" As the oldest member of the Investigation Team came down he thrust his hand at Azrafel, dragging his claws back and forth across Sano's body with the intention of tearing it into little pieces if he had to. The usually timid Crowley was now putting the incredible strength in his arms to use as he closed the distance and battled Sano without hesitation, despite all of the attempt he'd made up to now to avoid having to use his weapons against the Messiah. When push came to shove however, his friends were far more important than his own desire not to cause conflict, and in this case it was one time when he would have to not hold back, because if he did letting a loose cannon like Sano run around could spell death for any one of the people he cared about! He wasn't trying to kill this Messiah, but he wasn't going to let him win and harm anyone else, either. Quote: Debilitated Sano twice. The 2,000 IQ Killjoy Detective, Naoto Shirogane Naoto silently grinned as the attack connected, but quickly regained her cool as the man still stood, moving towards her with his blade. She went to brace herself for the attack, before feeling the impact of the slash, and doubling over, letting out a loud cry of pain. The attack wasn't a fatal one....But it was certainly a debilitating one. She seemed to grip her gun more, but then laxed it with a closed eye, and a cringe. "I....I relent." Naoto's voice called, her persona-fusion form fading away as she knelt. Even if she had persisted to fight, it would only lead to her being injured further...and her survival was a top priority. She lacked any special items for this sort of thing...And She had nothing to restore her Magical power from her strongest blow, so....... If I can keep these injuries to a minimum...I should be fine. she thought, scowling. It hurt her that she couldn't move onward....But hopefully, someone else would be able to deal with Okita.....And if he didn't try any cheap tricks..Then maybe someone could. Either way, she pulled her hat down over her eyes, fighting to try to keep her stoic expression so Okita wouldn't make any more biting remarks. Next time...She'd hopefully be more prepared. Okita Shisui, the Terminal Red-Eye Samurai "Born in the wrong age, this world and I are beyond our expiration."Okita was impressed with the girl who had fought him, and even after his sword had stricken true, he half-expected her to stand again and come after him just a little bit longer...with her gun, with some hidden weapon, holding out until the very end because that was what heroes usually did. It was valiant, but it was foolish. One could make a greater difference by waiting to heal and continuing their fight later than they could by simply pressing forward until their enemy finished them off long after a fight had been well-and-settled. Naoto, however, was no fool...and even though she might have been able to struggle a little longer, she could never get off this hook against him in her current condition. She had simply made a gamble and lost by going all-out so early and coming up empty. He didn't fault her for that...he remained impressed by her fortitude, her determination, and when she relented before he was forced to continue the battle against her, he found himself impressed with her judgment. Here in this girl, he had found an opponent amongst his enemies who was worth of his admiration. And the samurai couldn't help but nod faintly, sheathing his weapon as his feet padded over towards her lightly. Kneeling down before her, his fingers drew from within his clothes a small white cloth and a roll of what might have been cloth wrap or medical tape from the look of it. Setting the roll at the girl's feet, he placed the wrap against her cheek for a moment to soak up the splatter of crimson blood...then placed it in her hands to let her do the rest.
"...It is not my mission to kill you," the Messenger assured her, nodding once before standing back to his feet and looking towards the school in the difference, "...Recover, and become stronger. Then, come find me...and perhaps you will be the one to provide my life with a meaningful end." His green eyes seemed filled with some distant thoughts and emotions, but he said nothing more beyond that. Naoto's injuries did not seem to be life-threatening if she as careful, and those bandages would help to stem the bleeding until someone with a Dia spell could heal her. That was all he could do for her, and all he had time for. His mission was still calling him...as was that school at the Hilltop, and the other 'fighters' waiting for him to find them. Another opponent...another victory or defeat. He would observe all that he could until he suffered the latter, or his master recalled him to the Serpent of Lore. That was his code...his way of life.
"Farewell..."Quote: Winner! "The Terminal Red-Eye Samurai" Okita Shisui!"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ With each strike Crowley unleashed upon Sano, blood sprayed from the wounds. His defenses were lowered terribly and these attacks were stronger than he expected. First his special ability broke, the extra arms and weapon fading away into thin black smoke. He didn't have a chance to block even one blow so the teen was trapped, having to take every hit. Once the assault was over the red eyed Messiah stumbled back, blood pooling around his footsteps. Did he really just lose? Against the Investigation Team once again? Why.. Why couldn't he win!? His breathing was heavy as he struggled to keep himself standing. When he took a shaky step forward his Shadow form cracked and literally fell apart, turning into shadowy dust as it hit the floor to leave behind his normal self; all bloody and beaten. "I'm.. not done yet.. I'll kill you.. You hear me?"
Sano took the heavy metal ball in his hand to try and throw it but it fell with a short thud. His body fell to the ground next, his face meeting the pavement. "D.. Damn it.. Why do you all always get in my way!? Why don't I ever WIN!? Dammit.. MOVE!" He snapped, trying to force himself back to his feet but only managing to prop his upper half off the ground a little. There was no chance of him getting back up, it was clear that Crowley had defeated him. Quote: The 100 Year-Old Demonic Substitute, Aleister Crowley wins!

Karu Raiku, Investigation Team's Newest Introvert. Karu let out a small sigh taking a break after his last fight. He was at the location he needed to be in, but things were looking pretty empty at the moment it gave him a moment to rest and breath without getting attacked. "Alright... I think I'm alright for now" He took a deep breath just enjoying whatever peace he had before someone else started beating the hell out of him. After the last fight he sure enjoyed any quiet time he had and probably would for the rest of his life. Although staying alert still was a must in case someone came along to sucker punch him for being an idiot and not staying alert.

Akihiko Sanada, the Two-Fisted Protein Junkie "...Protein...give me a double shot of protein! The good stuff..."The walls had been trying to guide him through the school, but it didn't take long for the silver-haired boxer-slash-detective to get bored with following the rules that the annoying Teddie had been enforcing upon them; his feet crashed through the window on the second floor of the school and he had fallen unceremoniously to the dirt below, landing heavily upon his feet but without injury. His glancing around revealed nothing of interest along the front of the school, so his feet began to carry him towards the gate...which let him pass without incident. Was there something down in the town below, he wondered? The view was foggy after a short dip into the town, and as he walked, the invisible walls stopped his attempts to take a path here or there, apparently having roped him back into the set path of the event. His tongue clicked as he strode confidently towards the town's Downtown area, only to find a short portion of it open to him...and a boy with darker hair waiting there, as if in anticipation of his next opponent. Upon inspection, he didn't seem to be an enemy. He looked relatively harmless, and running through what he could recall faintly, he looked something like one of the recent additions reported to the Investigation Team. "Hey, you...are you Karu Raiku? One of Soji Seta's friends?" he called out without hesitation, tact or reading the situation never really his forte, "My name's Akihiko Sanada; I'm here to find a lost weapon of ours and get you guys out of here. Can you tell me anything about what's going on in here? And have you seen a...um, a girl around here that looks strange? Blue hair, red eyes...goes by the name of Labrys?" He moved a bit closer to the boy to inspect him for injuries and listen to his response, but when his body seemed to suddenly take on an offensive demeanor (to his eyes) he stepped back and immediately raised his guard. Something had changed about Karu, and Akihiko could tell in a moment that the Grand Prix's second round was about to begin. This was...meant to be his next opponent, then? He really didn't want to keep fighting these kids. But they weren't really giving him a lot of choice, were they?
"Why would I tell you, pig? You think just because you're a cop you can make any kind of a difference in here? All the police have done since these incidents started is get in the way of our fight and bumble around without a clue, letting things get worse and worse in Inaba until the town nearly went under to the Messengers and the Messiahs! How can anybody ever start to trust a lackluster bunch of jokes like that? And you..." the boy's harsh voice came again after a moment, scathing and angry, "Well, you're just the worst of all, aren't you? You actually have the power that we do, to make a difference against enemies like that. And what have you accomplished, really? Letting us handle the work here while Mitsuru handles the work in Iwatodai...all so you can play 'normal' detective and train for your fight, jeez, how the Hell selfish can you really be? How worthless can you be? Oh, I've got an idea...why don't you try getting off your selfish a** and doing something for a change? Shadow Operatives? World Champion? None of these really apply to you, do they? And do you know why...? You're weak. You cling to your memories, and you cling to your fear of losing what's important to you. ...But you can't save it. You can't protect anything. And I'll show you..."
It was a verbal lashing unlike any he had received in a long, long time...and the mixture of anger and acceptance that he felt left an ugly miasma tingling inside of his chest. This boy...no, whoever was behind this illusion, saying things this boy could never really know about...it was aiming to dishearten him, to make him believe that he was weak. That he hadn't come far at all since those days when he was fighting with SEES together with Shinji and Ken, when he had lost Miki and Shinji and Minato...was that really the case? Had all of his work to become stronger, to become more reliable, to protect even the little things in the town with his work as a detective been for nothing?
"No..."
His voice was low, but stern...and when he spoke again his gray eyes were clear and his fist clenched tight, a louder protestation, not panicked...but determined filled the air.
"No, I'm not weak. But I'm not strong enough, either. Still, being strong alone won't solve anything. That's why I became a detective...to help the small people in need, to help kids who lose their families, to protect families in danger, and to keep the streets safe for those like I used to be. I trained to make that a reality, and to find the strength to defend that determination. My choice was not wrong," he began sternly, falling into a fighting stance with lightning crackling along his fists, "I can leave things to other people, because I believe in them! Because Mitsuru and Minato are far stronger people than I am...but that doesn't mean I'm not working hard to surpass them! I will always fight to surpass them...not because of a desperate need to become stronger. But because I want to protect them. That's all there is to it." Suddenly, his serious face melted and a small smile graced his lips. He knew that Karu wasn't the one saying these things, but he knew the fight couldn't be avoided. "Sorry, Karu. I'll make this quick," he cracked his knuckles, rolling his neck until it popped luxuriously, "...but rest assured, the one I'm aiming for isn't you. It's the b*****d at the heart of all this...and I won't rest until I bring him down!" Lightning struck and danced along his body!

Karu Raiku, Investigation Team's Newest Introvert. "Wait wait c'mon you didn't even give me a chance to respond!" Karu jumped back as the detective started out with an attack after shouting about how he wasn't weak and stuff along that line. "I don't really know or thing it's in my best interest to fight one of the town's detectives, but I don't really want to just lay down and let you beat me down." Karu took a deep breath trying to think of some sort of plan on the fly. Unlike with the previous fight Akihiko wasn't actually out to completely murder him, so the senior couldn't really rationalize fighting him as aggressively as he did Sawyer. If anything he'd just try to subdue that detective or something so he could just go onward with minimal bruising and pain. Aurial let's try to just knock him out or something, I'd prefer not to hurt someone that's NOT trying to kill me too badly Summoning forth his persona again he used one of his smaller skills light based skills compared to one of his almighty skills that he normally bombarded his enemies with. Akihiko Sanada, the Two-Fisted Protein Junkie "...Protein...give me a double shot of protein! The good stuff..."He couldn't hear Karu's protests, sadly, as the illusion had already taken hold of the field, bending the words between them into something cruel. Were either of them a little more observant they might have noticed the sudden shift in tone and attitude in their opponents as something unnatural, but the sharp words of the illusion of Karu had inspired Akihiko's decision to fight (even if he had guessed it wasn't really Karu speaking)...and Akihiko's intimidating presence left Karu with little choice but to respond. Now the battle was begun and there was no turning back, Akihiko's electrically charged power rising as his foe unleashed a light spell in self-defense. And the boxer-turned-detective had no natural resistance against the element, the spell washing over him with holy purification that burned but only in minute bits, power quite lacking compared to the normal types of foes that the man was used to facing. He did not sneeze at the boy's determination, however. To have attacked this quickly only meant that he was willing to fight for his life without hesitation; that was something that he could respect. Lips curled into a wry smirk at that, even as his knuckles cracked on one hand and the fingers of the other wrapped around the butt of a pistol tucked inside of his waist-holster. "You've got a lot of guts coming straight after me," he drew the weapon and brought it to his head immediately, and though he didn't really need to use it anymore he tended to go back to it when he wanted to cast something serious...it let him focus on the power of the attack itself rather than the summoning. And in his mind, it made him more deadly when he pulled the trigger.
"But it'll take a lot more than guts if you want to beat me! ...Caesar!" his finger depressed and a gunshot rang out across the Downtown Inaba area, a figure holding a globe and a sword within its two hands raising the former into the air as a dark cloud loomed instantly, a thunderclap announcing the rain of lightning bolts that stormed throughout the area all in a single moment. And at least one of them was bearing down directly, with all of its high power, on the significantly weaker foe opposing him. "Maziodyne!" If it was a duel of magic or a duel of fists, he had no intention of losing either. It was still far too early in the Tournament for the Two-Fisted Protein Junkie to even think about losing; he needed to discover the truth about Labrys, about who was behind this. And Karu was standing between him and his mission...a most lamentable position for anyone who couldn't get out of his way before provoking his ire.Quote: Maziodyne - Heavy Elec Damage (All Foes)

Karu Raiku, Investigation Team's Newest Introvert. Karu scowled knowing that his words weren't even reaching the detective much to his dismay. "Dammit dammit dammit...." He just didn't want to have to fight someone that he didn't have any personal score to settle. Feeling the intense shock of Akihiko's maziodyne his legs buckled underneath him a bit before he could catch himself from falling down. C'mon Aurial lets show him at least what we can do! He summoned his persona again this time waiting on his attack for now in favor of powering it up, maybe then the attack would leave a bit more of an impression, or hopefully knock some sense into the detective. Karu knew it's be hard to stop Akihiko he seemed pretty hardened when it came to the supernatural so the senior would have to do his best if he was going to be able to get out of this one without too much injury. If anything he was just focused on making sure he was mostly alive by the end of this, it was a simple goal but still a good thing to focus on.

Akihiko Sanada, the Two-Fisted Protein Junkie "...Protein...give me a double shot of protein! The good stuff..."He had laid on the hurt with one spell; Karu's panicked-looking response was enough to let him know that he was doing as much damage as he had intended. Best case scenario here was to end this fight fast and without any extra time or power wasted. Underestimating Karu and thinking that he couldn't do enough damage to be significant against him would be a foolish idea, but he knew his own power packed a seasoned punch that many of the newer members of the Investigation Team were still developing. Bolt after bolt he unloaded onto his foe while his electricity defenses were down, enough to tear away large chunks of health with each strike that landed. Judging by the way his foe seemed to be preparing for something serious, Akihiko's senses told him that something powerful was coming next turn...he knew that if it were truly aimed at his weakness he could always prepare and use his raised evasion to get out of harm's way, but if it were a different, unexpected type of power he might find himself enduring a bit of hurt. He had confidence he could handle it, of course. And the idea of pain in a battle only got his adrenaline pumping even harder. This kid's eyes were serious, even if something was making him speak the way that he had been before they started, and he respected that determination in an enemy. It made the victory worthwhile, and he intended fully to win a crushing victory. To that end he summoned before him without the use of his evoker his persona, the towering emperor looking down at their foe with a gaze that was proud and noble. To his foe, however, it may as well have been the executioner flipping on the switch on the electrical chair.
"Caesar! Ziodyne!" the two words echoed in succession and a wave of lightning threaded across the field to course through the Investigation Team member's body, aiming to weaken him even more severely in preparation for what would come next. And he was ready for his opponent's retaliation, the loose hand free from the lack of an evoker would allow him to more readily endure the attack by keeping it away from his vitals. Every move he made was a precursor to the next, a bit of strategy he had been developing in his style for more than half a decade of fighting against the shadows. Though he never wanted to have to use it against another person, particularly against someone he could consider an ally or a possible friend, these circumstances dictated that this was how it had to be. He couldn't argue...so he might as well work up a sweat in the process. "This isn't half bad," he let out a breath, wiping away a bead of sweat from his forehead with the back of his gloves as he danced around his opponent in his usual stance, "Let's keep it going; show me what you've got, Karu!"Quote: Ziodyne - Heavy Elec Damage (Target: Karu)

Karu Raiku, Investigation Team's Newest Introvert. Karu wasn't too injured from the Ziodyne, he wasn't really weak to the element but still wasn't too fond of just getting bombarded with electricity attacks. His eye's narrowed taking aim at the detective. "Aurial! Master Spark!" Karu pointed forward the spell circles appearing in front of him before the sudden high powered beam of almighty magic fired at the Veteran SEES member. "Akihiko maybe this can knock some sense into you, we don't need to be fighting do we?" The senior called out trying to reach him again even though it was probably going to be a fruitless act again. If anything he was at least showing Akihiko what he was capable of dishing out. Hopefully he'd be able to keep up with the attacks his opponent was throwing out at him Quote: Actions: Mind Charged Master Spark: High Almighty Damage

Akihiko Sanada, the Two-Fisted Protein Junkie "...Protein...give me a double shot of protein! The good stuff...""Heh, trying to no-sell my lightning at your level? Now you're just getting ahead of yourself, Karu. But at least you've got some fire in you, can't fault you for that," Akihiko could tell that his lightning actually had done a great deal of damage in spite of the way that the boy reacted, his resistance to the element having been utterly broken already before his own Amp'd, higher-tier spell had stricken him without any trouble. No newcomer could have endured a shot like that without taking some serious lumps in the process, and the boxing detective knew it. Brave a face as the boy showed, he was on his last legs. Still, that spell just now had been pretty strong on its own...charged non-elemental damage if he wasn't mistaken, and it had a real kick, even for someone who had been taking attacks like these for years. He'd tip his cap to him, but he wasn't wearing one. The best he could do, he supposed, was give the kid the honor of taking him completely seriously and ending this fight properly before the bear had a chance to intervene. ...His lips curled, the evoker finding its way back into his hand as he placed it firmly under his chin, finger on the trigger. "Sorry about this, but I've decided to take you seriously...that means I've got to finish it and get going after Labrys." He pulled the trigger standing not far before the introverted Investigation Team Member, smirking as his persona appeared and the globe in its hand thrust between the two of them to crack the boy in the chest and immobilize him.
"Caesar!"
The globe shattered and the twin forms of the persona and the user split into different directions; their paths converged in the air above the green-eyed boy, fists aimed ominously downward as they rocketed like meteors from the sky upon where the globe had been aimed to immobilize him. Gray eyes flashed dangerously, and his persona echoed his movements as the twin-strikes lowered the boom on a friend-turned-foe with just enough force to incapacitate without killing. "EARTH BREAKER!" A cloud of dust and power exploded from the center of the impact, the flutter of a dramatic cape heard as the crimson article slowly drifted towards the ground behind him. And as the dust cleared Akihiko Sanada stood in the center, bare-chested and strong, rolling his neck to work out a kink in the side of it. His clear eyes showed a mixture of continuing determination and admiration for his foe; Karu was stronger than he would have thought for a newcomer to Seta's team...was that a tribute to the team as a whole? To their leader? Or just to Karu's spirit? Whatever the case, they had the respect of the boxer for certain. He would remember them moving forward...and he wouldn't forget to thank him for the spirited match later, when things cooled down.Quote: Earth Breaker - Caesar uses the globe within his hand to strike and immobilize an enemy, before following up with a combined, simultaneous punch with his persona for Severe Piercing Damage. (Target: Karu)
