Rednal

If anybody had been watching her, Yidhra's fierce, primal grin might have been a slight giveaway. As those users who'd bothered to sit down and talk had found out, Persona weren't just mindless manifestations of power. They could definitely have their own thoughts and opinions, and the way Yidhra felt about Rednal was pretty much a replication of what he felt about others. Fiercely, overwhelmingly protective, and quite willing to hurt others if that was what needed to be done. Parts of her hair (if that was an accurate term for the... appendages...) wrapped around Rednal to provide a layer of defense, sapping her attack's power a fair bit before it could reach him. It did reach him in the end, of course, slamming directly into the boy and ripping open quite a few new wounds as he gasped both in pain and to try and get some air into his lungs. It hurt, all right. It hurt. But probably not nearly as bad as the spell he'd just hit Amelia with... if she was managing to stand up after that, did she really believe that hitting him with a weaker attack was going to bring him down? Him, the boy who didn't give up until the culmination of his injuries forced him to? Rednal staggered forward, his free hand pressed over one of his worse wounds, as he shakily aimed Regulus. That was her cue, perhaps, because Yidhra gently reached out to steady his hands. Whatever was going through the boy's mind, it was clear that the mask he used to face the world approved of his choices.

The light that erupted out of his weapon wasn't in the same league as Nuclear Winter when it came to range, power, or effect. But then, it probably didn't need to be, either, considering the power still flowing through his body...

Amelia M. Heartilly

The girl was still feeling shaken up, her shoulders still burning only to have very little relief from the cold that came from her, the room chilled with frost and ice all around along with some ruin. The icy fog began to fade away, and Amelia's eyes would see a certain someone still moving, still approaching and she would see the beaten up Rednal walking towards her like a zombie with only one thing in mind. To devour. That was all she saw at this point, seeing him raise his weapon despite how much in bad shape he is in with his Persona being loyal to him and praising his choice with her hands steadying his arm and aim. She couldn't move, either, her legs unable to bring themselves to stand up and she was lacking the energy to focus through the pain. "Snap out of it..." her voice strained to him. "Do you.. even know what you're doing anymore..?" she saw the shaking finger draw closer to the trigger. "Rednal!" The trigger was pulled and her eyes widened with her mouth gaping open, no mercy being shown towards her as the bullet of Nuclear power shot right through her body, leaving nothing but a gaping hole behind. Her flesh was burning inside and at the edges of the hole, blood staining her clothes, legs and soon the floor when she fell onto her side in a sick thug. For a moment, she looked dead. She very well could be...

But it wasn't long until magic gathered about and mended the wounds and burns, the flesh and organs going back into their rightful place that wasn't the Music Room floor, and the porcelain skin beginning to look like new. Limp fingers twitched with life, gripping around the handle of the rapier, the raven haired girl beginning to bring herself back onto her feet. Suddenly, without warning, she unleashed another rain of lightning onto the boy.

"You know..." she began in a low tone, "...even I don't hate you this much. We're still teammate, supposedly. I have to ask... Why are we fighting, again?" Amelia brushed black strands behind her ear and away from her face, staring Rednal down, but refused to take a step further. She hoped that was enough to take him down, and if so, she'll be sure to have Mizuchi help her out in healing him.

"I never knew I could hate anyone this much. And you call yourself my teammate? Why are we fighting, again? Oh, right. I hate your guts."

As lightning came blasting toward Rednal, Yidhra's eyes flashed, and the air around Rednal shifted. For the brief moment the electricity was heading towards him, it passed through a place where left was purple, right was fifty decibels, and the more you went towards something the further you were away from it. The jagged lightning still went forward... but somehow, forward had become something else. It kind of hurt to look at, really, so it was probably a good thing for all involved that it was over as quickly as it had started. Yidhra's power didn't extend only to shielding Rednal, protective though she was... the attacks of enemies were less accurate, too, thanks to the power she emitted. Rednal exhaled heavily, but a wide, slasher's smile slowly crept across his face. "So you're determined to keep standing up even after I've pummeled you, huh? ...I can actually respect that. But if you're not afraid of me yet, then you know what? You're going to be." A wave of force shot out of his body, clawing towards Amelia and seeking to rip straight into her mind and infuse her with the proper state of mind for the situation that she was in. A state of sheer, howling terror and and a desire to escape... as if he'd let her. One way or another, before too long... this'll all be over.

She had to admit, that Persona of his was very troublesome, Amelia rubbing her head to try and get her mind straight after 'coming back to life' from his last attack. Fulgora was continuing to glare at Yidhra for all its trouble, confused all the while for its psychotic behavior that seems to feed into the user. Amelia narrowed her eyes right when she saw that slasher smile growing onto Rednal's face, hearing him once more. She ignored it, though, not wanting to listen to anymore of the false words that he was spewing out of his mouth and faced him. This has gone on for way too damn long, and seeing him like this was only getting to her more and more, her teeth clenched and lightning continuing to crack all around her. It was then a force went through her when the smile grew, Amelia glaring at him when she felt her mind trying to twist and crack.

She shook her head, her skin running cold for a split moment but suddenly sprinted right towards him and slammed the lightning covered handle of her blade to the temple of his head. Fulgora followed as well, shooting a hand to clutch a vice grip onto Yidhra's shoulder and slamming her against the wall to keep her still. Amelia's hand reached forward and grabbed onto the collar of Rednal's shirt, glaring down at him as a seething anger boiled. "Alright that's enough!" She yelled, her violet eyes never leaving the boy. "This is not how things are suppose to be! The hell is wrong with you?! Answer me!" Amelia shook him once, not planning on letting him go. "We're suppose to lean on our friends and comrades, not prove who is the better one at playing the hero! Get your s**t together, Rednal! Get your s**t together, now!"

Rednal

"We're supposed to lean on our friends and comrades... hah! What a joke! You always act like you can shoulder everything yourself, but you don't fit in with the team at all. Nobody likes you, nobody trusts you, nobody looks at you as anything but a disposable weapon! I bet even your girlfriend would dump you in a heartbeat if someone else asked her out! Nobody thinks you're important, least of all your 'friends'!"

Rednal's head was knocked back a bit as the girl bludgeoned him... but her strike was weak. Even with enhancements for magic, a basic blow like that was weak, only taking away part of the health he'd restored throughout the battle thus far. As the girl shook him back and forth, though, one of Rednal's hands managed to reach up between their bodies (not that there was very much room... at this range, it was a bit of a tight fit) and grabbed for her throat. Anger continued to blaze in his eyes; he wasn't simply fighting against a friend, he was furious with everything she'd done. Months upon months of treating other people like dirt, and now every word that came out of her mouth was just another insult towards everyone he cared about and mockery of all that they'd accomplished. It was only fitting, after all, that backwater country bumpkins would do the grunt work while the people who actually counted as people got on with living their lives, right? The farmers farmed so the rich could eat, the painters painted so the rich could decorate, the industries thrived so the rich had something to own. It was all about her, all the time...

And yet...

The boy still smiled. In the midst of madness, a world that didn't make sense, where a friend was suddenly going crazy and screeching at him for all she was worth... he smiled. "That... is not dead..."

The girl gasped when she suddenly felt a hand taking a hold of her throat, her hand grabbing onto his wrist to try and pry it off of her. "R-Rednal!!" she gasped out, her nails digging into his wrist as she continued to pull, her head turning away to try and escape. Fear was flowing through her now, her mind buzzing and screaming at this time. This was no longer a contest, or a fight. It became a struggle, Amelia thrashing about and trying to get away from his grip. Her heart raced, seeing the boiling anger into his eyes, seeing that smile on his face and that was enough. What happened to him?! What is this world doing to him!? He's going to kill me!

"Stop!" she gasped out once more, trying to shove him off so that the panicked girl could run. She wanted to run, she had to run away! Get away from him!!

Rednal

As the girl thrashed in his hands, it was hard to say what was going through Rednal's mind. Most people, when faced with somebody who was clearly terrified, would probably feel pity, concern, maybe a bit of protective instinct. If it was a cute girl, the strange concept of moe might have been involved, too, but otaku of that type were kind of weird in the way they viewed things. Yet... what? All that mockery before, but now she'd succumbed to his powers, and he was suddenly supposed to feel sorry? It wasn't a natural fear at all. It was simply a magical effect that messed with the target's mind, and whatever sort of illusion this was, it had been vulnerable to Yidhra's power. "...Which can Eternal Lie." Rednal finished softly. Back where Amelia's Persona had pinned down Rednal's own, something about the psychotic little loli spirit changed, and one hand pierced straight through Fulgora's chest. Hundreds of mouths and eyes suddenly appeared throughout Yidhra's hair as it wrapped around Fulgora like a spider weaving an instant cocoon around its captured prey. Of course, spiders didn't also bring to mind a school of piranhas, many little bites consuming their prey in mere moments.

Fulgora was a Persona. She'd be fine the next time she was summoned.

That did, however, sort of require the human whose mask she was to be able to do some summoning. Eyes and mouths disappeared as Yidhra's hair reverted to its normal state. The name of Rednal's technique came from a certain quote associated with her mythos, and it was an extremely direct reference to her capabilities. Regardless of how powerful an offensive spell was, any opponent could endure it if they had the health and defense to withstand the blow. In that sense, when one thought about it, any offensive magic was ultimately imperfect. Even if, as in Rednal's case, the spell's power was multiplied straight out of the status of reasonable and into the realm of just plain silly. The same could not be said of her most powerful technique. It was something almost never used, generally because the foes they fought were powerful enough to resist it. It simply wasn't practical to waste time with this kind of thing when it was more efficient to use that previously-mentioned silly level of offensive power. There were, however, rare occasions in which it could be used against an enemy. The criteria was fairly simple. At times, enemies became afraid of Yidhra, and her special power was such that when someone feared her, then no matter how powerful they were, she could bring them down.

"...Remember, no killing." Rednal said softly. Yidhra nodded, just a bit, and pounced.

The collision was inevitable. While most dangers could be dodged somehow, if you were fortunate, this wasn't one of them. Yidhra's hair began to move again, and parts of it shot out to wrap around Amelia's limbs and hold them outstretched as the girl was pulled away from Rednal's grip and pushed high into the air. A position of complete and utter vulnerability, at a time when she was faced with inhuman terror. She could try to run, but there simply was no escape. Not from the Dream Witch, Yidhra, when she hunted those plagued by the nightmares she sent out. "...And now you're afraid, aren't you?" Rednal asked quietly. "With that big mouth of yours, and all the talking you do? This is the difference between us." All the while, as he spoke, one of the largest mouths in Yidhra's hair slowly approached the girl. It was open wide, revealing quite a lot of long, razor-sharp teeth. Yet where there should have been a throat of some kind, there was instead a vision into Yidhra's home realm, a place where none of the laws of the universe applied. A land of complete and utter insanity where everything lost its meaning. Color, shape, distance, direction, even self ceased to mean a thing. "...Now do you see the sorts of things I feel? The monsters we fight absolutely terrify me, and way too often, I'm just as vulnerable to them as you are to me. And despite all I've done, you still climb up on that high little horse of yours to preach at me and yell that I'm wrong. When I'm facing monsters to protect you and the stupid high-society stuff you like so much. Like they say, all that's necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. Well, I'm not one of those people who can just sit back and let it run free because someone else doesn't have the guts they need. Until you're willing to take my place and do whatever you have to in order to fight evil, you have no right to judge my actions." A bit of saliva dripped down centimeters from Amelia's nose; the mouth in question was now opened wider than she was tall, ready to swallow her mind and bring her down, and not a single scrap of the power and energy Amelia possessed could stop Yidhra from doing anything she wanted to Amelia's body.

It was this same, exact feeling that Rednal confronted all the time. Knowing he was weaker than the enemy, that he was probably going to lose, that they could inflict incredible harm on him and nothing he did was going to be able to stop them from doing that... but day after day, foe after foe, he still rose up to fight them. He was not a pure person, not some kind of saint who'd never been corrupted. He'd stared straight into the abyss, and when it stared back and waved hello, he'd made friends with it and welcomed it into the very depths of his soul. That was Yidhra, the Dream Witch, Goddess of Madness and Paradoxes, for whom the laws of physics were basically an ongoing joke the universe was trying to tell her. She just laughed. Even Nyarlathotep, among the greatest foes they'd ever fought, had been unable to reach far enough to overcome Rednal's own inner darkness. The madness that threw away self-preservation in favor of protecting others.

"...Let her down." Rednal said quietly. The enormous mouth snapped shut, then a long tongue came out of it and licked Amelia's face, getting saliva all over her cheek and into some of the hair on that side of the girl's head. The tendrils that had stretched Amelia's limbs out began to shorten as they brought the girl back down, and they withdrew completely once her feet had touched the ground. "I think she gets the point now. And if not... You know what to do." It had been like the unstoppable force of a glacier; the girl, healthy and powerful and righteous, completely vulnerable and at the mercy of a badly-injured, probably-insane boy who couldn't even walk straight at the moment. It was like a bad joke, or maybe a terrible soap opera. The boy in question was, however, very good at not shutting up. It was often a particular source of annoyance for those who didn't like him, and he was okay with that. Actually, it made him feel sort of warm and fuzzy inside to know that he could reduce their enemies to a human emotion (rage), and in so doing bring them down from the realm of gods and turn them into just very, very powerful men. One who was truly above humanity wouldn't care.

It was probably a gamble, letting some sort of illusion... or whatever it was... move forward. But he wasn't much good at playing by the rules of others anyway. His eyes drifted towards the announcement television for just a moment, then he sat down, took out several bottles of pills, and swallowed a few of the pills whole. Good pills, mind you. Prescription and everything.

Amelia M. Heartilly

Everything was buzzing, chaotic, a struggling in Amelia's mind as she tried to overcome everything that she was feeling, trying to overcome the grip that she felt on her neck and soon it became a desperation all around. The moment he whispered Eternal Lie, she knew that things were now coming to an end. She winced at the grip when Fulgora was ensnared by the hair of Yidhra. She hollered out at Rednal to tell him to stop, but soon felt the terror growing more as she felt herself being lifted in the air and her limbs being bound by the hair of his crazed persona. He did not go through with his final move after all. So why was he doing this to her? What more did he want?! Amelia choked out, but she couldn't say a word, her mind still in a dark area where fear was taking over. Her violet eyes closed tightly when she saw a mouth coming towards her, her body thrashing about, trying desperately to flee.

"Now you're afraid, aren't you?" Rednal asked quietly. "See? You think you're strong enough to stand up for yourself, but look what happened. This is the difference between us." Amelia heart raced, her wrists and arms pulling as much as they could, but an indescribable force kept her and she could feel the breath of the mouth coming closer and closer to her. "Rednal, stop!!" she cried out.

"This is what real fear is, this is what I go through day to day and continue to move on, but you cower. You know damn well that this is not something that you can take day in and day out unlike me and the rest of us. You can't do anything despite what you think, you're only meant to be protected. You have no right to talk down on me when you can't do a single damn thing, and I'm teaching you that lesson right now." Rednal's words were cutting deeper now, her mind growing weak but she knew it just couldn't be true! Everyone else had confidence in her that she can make it through with them. That was what Minori said, right? That was what Soji said... right?
Her eyes opened slightly only to see that the mouth before was at a size that could easily consume her like a monster ready to devour, Amelia suddenly giving out a cry before she shut her eyes and shook her head rapidly in hopes that it'll disappear. She thrashed about more, her heart rate sky rocketing, her senses leaving her from this torture!

"...Let her down." Rednal said quietly. The monstrous mouth shut open, the girl stopping when she heard those words and cringed in disgust when she felt the tongue licking against her skin before she was placed down. "I think she's learned her lesson..." she heard. "If not? Well... you know what to do." Amelia felt her body back on the floor of the Music Room, her legs unmoving, her mind still gone after everything that has happened. She trembled, her hand gripping onto her arm and lowering her head with her eyes closed once more. She didn't hear anything else after that, only the footsteps then a soft thump of Rednal moving away from her then sitting himself down to do his own thing. Amelia remained motionless... feeling dirty, sick to the stomach... humiliated... Like nothing will ever be the same now.

General Teddie
"...May the manliest of all men come ooooon down!..."

"Tut tut! That's not how the game is played!" the annoying, high-pitched voice of a general bear sounded from the monitor nearby...all-too-satisfied with himself at the outcome of this match, "You can't go winning a match and then refusing to go on! Ms. High-Life Harlot here already attempted to withdraw, which makes the Tiny Lady Lover this round's winner! But please don't let my judgment stop you from your high-handed thrashing of poor Miss Amelia's psyche. At this rate, she'll definitely come running into my arms for comfort when all this is done...don't you agree? Hee hee hee...you seemed to really get a kick out of taking your grudge out on this one! Talking and smashing and forcing your own opinion on someone without ever really considering their own thoughts or feelings? You're one cooold man...I like it! It makes me beary excited to see what you're capable of in the next round! So...move along now! Go! Get moving! The second round awaits you!"

The monitor shut off as the General laughed with glee; it would be impossible for Amelia to move on now, her crumpled form condemned to remain here until the end of the Tournament. Rednal, on the other hand, was obliged to move forward in spite of his weak attempt at friendship by forfeiting only after he had gone to such lengths to try and break the girl...then force her into more fighting. But that was just the way the Tournament was...forcing friend to fight friend, grudges to come to the surface, using illusions and trickery to sever and test the bonds between people. Rednal and Amelia in particular seemed to have completely shattered the bond between them with this fight...and the bear was absolutely reveling in it. Only more entertainment could come from sending the zombie forward...and so he would have to go on. To see how many other bonds he could shatter before the Tournament reached its climax...

Rednal made a very rude gesture towards the monitor. "What, did your head go back to being empty again? There's a world of difference between intentionally giving up and attempting to escape because you're being mind-controlled into doing it, which you should darn well know was the case! What makes you think I want to participate in any tournament that has a clearly biased judge, huh? Victories mean nothing if the people running things decide based on stupid criteria like this." Mouthing off to the management, which was possibly capable of doing very bad things to him if they didn't like him? Yeah, that was Rednal, all right. He really had a hard time with shutting up when he was annoyed. "How much of a show do you think you can get if I refuse to fight, eh? I'm pretty sure you don't intend for me to win, and since you've already proven that your judgment calls are biased and unfair, I'm having a really hard time understanding why I should do anything you tell me to."

Amelia M. Heartilly

The voice from the monitor sounded nothing but buzzing and muffled sounds in her ears, Amelia still unmoving from her spot. The only thing she was able to pick up was that Rednal was the winner. After that, she tried to tune everything out. ...This was pathetic, perhaps, being crumbled down to this low of a level, looking like the very thing that she denied to be. Looking like something she refuses to be. It sickened her. Rednal started to go on about how the decision of him being declared the winner was wrong, the whole thing being a sort of oddity if it was seen by outsiders. A stubborn, flailing boy who won saying that he lost, and a young woman on the floor in a crumbled, defeated mess being told that she was the one who was supposed to win. But it's obvious... It was stupidly obvious who won this match.

"...It was because you beat me." she said quietly, Amelia still keeping her head down and eyes closed. "There's nothing biased about it..." Who was Rednal kidding? The girl held herself tighter, shoulders ceasing their trembling then she finally opened her violet eyes, the water that was trapped from her lashes soon falling down her cheek. There was something she kept in her pocket, a small item her slim fingers took out and soon remembered Soji giving this to her before they all went off into this world. ...A sign of their friendship, this little odd object? ... Odd or not... it was still special. She traced her thumb against the metal, the bitterness still in her chest but..the more she thought on it, the more she remembered something.

"No matter what the circumstance, you're never alone." That what he would say, right?

"You're not alone. We'll go through this together, alright?" and that's what Minori would say, too... Amelia curled her lips inside her mouth then let them go, looking over towards Rednal.

"... You didn't mean what you said, did you?" she asked in a weak voice. "...That I'm a damsel? ...I'm more useful being a pretty accessory in the background?"

"Oh, good." Rednal said. "You're back to normal." He reached over and gently rubbed Yidhra's head; the Persona, acting rather catlike, gently pushed against him, clearly pleased with the attention. "Good job, you." the boy added. As he turned back to Amelia, Yidhra quietly began licking some of the wounds that covered his body, infusing them with energy to slowly heal him. He did think for a moment on Amelia's words, though, remarkably cheerful despite the fact that he was hurt much more than she was. But when much of your life was pain, you learned to smile anyway or it broke you. "...The idea that you're a damsel? Yes, yes you are. If I remember the definition right, a damsel is a young woman, usually on the rich end. So unless there's something you haven't told the rest of us...?" He raised an eyebrow. "A pretty accessory, though...? Um... don't remember sayin' that. You probably could do with not yelling at me so much when I'm trying to take down our enemies, but as far as I'm concerned, any power added onto the team is a good thing. I mean, our power as a group is cumulative, not average, right? As long as you're doing something, I guess that'd be a positive, though it's probably best to try and be as useful as you can be..." He had the bad habit of elaborating when he was answering questions, too. Most people at least made the attempt to get used to it, but the truth was that when Rednal wanted to explain something, he'd usually try to be as exact as possible, and might end up taking dozens of sentences to state what others might do in two or three. "So you heard talk about being useless, and I heard talk about being a bad friend... huh..." He breathed out slightly, rubbing his chin. "That's.. interesting..." He glanced towards the monitor. ...Something funny's going on here, and if that's not an illusion, too, I bet he knows what. Is Rise insulting us or begging for help, though? Too many questions, not enough evidence. Drat. "Nn." the boy said, jerking his head a bit as he eyed his persona. One of Yidhra's hair-tendrils crept out again; a very small one, really quite cute, and it gently rubbed against her face, making a purring sort of noise. "You're still completely out of your mind if you think I dislike anyone on our team, though. I wouldn't throw myself in harm's way for people I don't think deserve my help; I ain't that nice."

"The Imperious Queen of Executions" Mitsuru Kirijo and "The Pitiable Archangel of Absolution" Minori Koroko

User Image User ImageMitsuru hadn't been expecting something like this when she entered the tv with the rest of the Shadow Operatives. Being separated from the start had been quite troublesome, and more so not being able to communicate with either of them. That a tournament of some sort waited for them inside this world inside of the television was even more intriguing. Fighting with people she had no intention of hurting...well, it did leave a sour taste in her mouth. The onyx haired girl had been fierce...despite the initial giggle-snorts, her determination and strength was nothing to laugh about. The lingering scars and burns on her skin and the charred edges of her white fur coat were proof of it. The fight had thankfully ended before either could surpass their limit...and the only request of the girl had been to assist Seta in finding the culprit of this tournament, in case she were to meet him. She had a mission of her own, and she loathed having others involved because of them…but, if it came to that in the end…she’d have to keep her word. If the mastermind behind this all didn't put them all out one by one before that could happen, that was.

Mitsuru frowned, wondering just how many people were involved in this. Seta's group was here, her encounter with Yukiko Amagi confirmed so, but... who else would she need to fight before finding what she was looking for? How was Minato doing? Would Aigis, Akihiko or Iori have more luck than herself? She hoped so. Fingers brushed against the chipped surface of the broken piano, an unnerving sensation sinking to her stomach. Just what kind of fight happened in here? But, before the heiress could continue to her musings, the sound of hurried footsteps made her turn around, the sight of a blond figure getting closer making her purse her lips.

The girl stopped a few steps away from her, the spear on her hands never leaving a defensive stance, wary of what was to come. It was no surprise...after one fight, it was only logical to expect a next one. And others to come. "You are one of Seta's friend, am I correct? My name is Mitsuru Kirijo, and I am here in search of a girl named Labrys. Have you seen her, perchance?"

Green eyes widened slightly in recognition, before an apologetic shake of the girl’s head sent blond curls waving. “Minori Koroko…and yes, I am friends with Soji. I am sorry miss Kirijo, but I haven’t seen anyone like that.” Mitsuru nodded, somehow expecting the answer, her expression darkening when the monitors came to life, the taunting words of General Teddie and the pigtailed girl announcing the fight to come. “Come on, come on! Don’t stop now! We can’t disappoint our spectators now, can we? So cooome and give your best! And remember! Oooonly the winner can move forward!”

“I am sorry you, Seta and the others had to be involved in all this because of us…but I’ll have to ask you to stand down. This mission is of great importance and I can’t let it end in failure.”
The blond frowned though, her gaze turning over to the red haired heiress, as her own weapon moved in her hands, to an offensive stance. “I…won’t. I can’t let the others down! I need to find them… Sorry, but…I will not back down!” ed

A sigh escaped Mitsuru’s lips, but she couldn’t help the inner smile at the stubborn spirit…not unlike the one the members of SEES kept during their days at the dorm…not unlike the spirit that guided them inside the tv this time…in search of Aigis’s sister…in search of answers.
“I understand. So be it, then…I won’t hold back.”

Minori only nodded in response, green eyes burning with determination.

And so…the match started.
