Just keep swimming!!! Keelut's swimming adventures Ok. This was a whole different thing right here. She had no past experiences in this what so ever. Swimming, warm water rushing next to your body as you tried to swim as fast as you can. Different, very different. She was not use to this at all. Polaris was a planet where cold and ice runed, not warm rushing water that people could swim. It was a rare thing, something that was use to being done inside. Maybe if this was ice this would be easier for her but this was whole different format.
She looked around nervous. She had came her to compete and she wasn't sure if this event was the best idea. Sure, she could swim but there was no way she better then the knight who live on warmer planets. They probably were experts in things like this. She was more of a hunter, someone who wrestler with nature. She not a lean, mean, swimming machine. So this event scare her more then she wanted to be let know. She sighed and looked around towards the other knights, wondering if they where having her same fears. She guess the knights from Mercury and Polaris where probably feeling the same way as her she just hoped that the other knights from the different planets felt the same way.
She sighed, she couldn't let this stand in her way. She had to give it her all even if that meant she had to look like a fish out of water....in the water? She could swim, that was a know fact but maybe if she just kept her pace and not worry about swimming the fastest she could just beat the others just by sheer lasting the longer. Or maybe she could just win by sheer luck, which seem like the better idea of the two. Luck could be on her side in this one, well she hoped for it, anyways. She had to give it her all and that's what she was planning on doing! She wanted to make her princess proud even if that meant doing things that she wasn't too familiar with.((358 words))

Just keep swimming!!!
--- Feeling oddly at home, Simonidies took a moment to enjoy the glitter of light reflecting off the water, before neatly setting her carrying bag down on the ground. Giving it a firm pat, her eyes darted around for a moment as if daring anyone to try swiping it. Of course, you'd think things would be safe, but who knows what kind of reprehensible vagrants would use the cover of this event to sneak in and rummage through her clothes. And once some stranger had pawed through your underwear, well, it certainly couldn't ever be worn again. Even the thought of it was upsetting. Trying to push those thoughts out of her mind, she untied her sarong and packed it, her sandals, and her glasses away neatly, before secreting the bag away behind a nearby pillar.
Standing up, she brushed non-existent dust off the front of her modest swimsuit, then doing a few brisk (yet still modest) limbering up exercises, turned away from the pools where the more splashier events were taking place. Swimming didn't need all that water flying everywhere, in her opinion. It could be done perfectly gracefully and modestly. Diving, that was more her style. A perfect entrance to the water, while causing minimal disturbance. Still, she had learned to swim almost before she had learned to walk, and though she did it with less wild enthusiasm, she was certain she could outdistance even the splashiest amateur. Perhaps, she considered, she could bring some much needed modesty and dignity to these events.
Of course, before she actually lept into a race, a few gentle laps were in order in one of the emptier pools. Stretching on dry land was all very well and good, but one had to take care of oneself if one didn't want to end up clutching their leg and blubbing about cramps while trying not to sink. Something like that could really put you off your game. Squinting, she made her way over to one of the blobs that had looked quiet enough before she had packed her glasses away. That was one thing that always rankled her, having to remove her glasses. It seemed ridiculous that there couldn't be some way to swim and see at the same time. Perhaps some magical lens on her eye itself? No, she supposed that anything like that would be ridiculously dangerous, as well as impossible. Glasses really were the only way. Sighing to herself, she completely failed to notice the swimmers lining up to take their positions at the other end of the pool, and indeed only realized her mistake when she collided face first in the water with one of them, several minutes later.

Just keep swimming!!!
____________
Now, swimming was a fine event!
Carwyn was not terribly good at events that required brute force and she could bet that there were other Knights that had more muscle and were physically stronger than her. But this? She loved swimming! It was good exercise, good way to build up stamina, and also, most importantly, the swimsuits!
No one said you couldn't be fashionable while participating in the Olympics! Every now and then, she would chance sideway glances at the other competitors and grin. It was nice to see all the planetary colors!
She had entered some of the shorter races, proudly wearing an orange swimsuit with Venus' symbol upon it. Planet pride was never wrong, either! It was her hope that she could win something in the honor of Venus, but really, as long as Carwyn tried her best, she would be happy. It was Carwyn's motto never to have too high expectations, or in the end, one could be sorely disappointed. And disappointment was not something she liked to dwell on.
Still, Carwyn did some light stretching as she focused on her breaths; quelling her expectations didn't mean she was nervous! What if she came in last? It would be utterly horrendous! Not that she meant anything derogatory to whoever would come in last in the end, but that, at least, was her goal. Not come in last. Maybe for the other events, she would let that thought slide, because she knew her limits, but not for swimming! She liked swimming. It wasn't an event that relied on brute force.
Those who knew the young Page would be surprised to see her looking serious for once as she stepped up to the starting line, goggles over her green eyes and a diving cap. Frankly, Carwyn hadn't much liked wearing the latter, because it wasn't at all what she would call fashionable, but at least it kept her hair dry!
When the starting gun went off, Carwyn was poised and ready, diving in the water, and enjoying the thrill of the race.

Just keep swimming!!! Solo - Reflecting Upon a Wonder It was only natural that the Squire, Nysa, would be participating in this event. He stood in front of the pools, stretching his arms in a nearly mechanical manner. Swinging an arm to one side and holding it in place, then switching it up. Every so often he'd rotate his arms. He was a Squire from Neptune. The world was practically covered in water. His own Wonder was perhaps one of the more shallow areas on the planet. The man needed to tend to the gardens of Nysa, which required him to get in the water and swim to the aquatic plants, tending to any ailments each might have had. During the harvest time, working in the gardens was an exceptional work out! Of course, his work in the gardens was never about speed, but it did help his lungs grow stronger. He might not have had speed at his side, but he did have endurance. There was something a bit intimidating about being a Squire of Neptune in a competition such as this. The Princess was well known for her swimming abilities, and sometimes it seemed as if the other worlds seemed to expect such skills to become a part of the repertoire of her knights. They most certainly had the option to practice, though a majority of the knights chose to master the arts. Musicians, artists, and masters of the written word were common place. The fact was that the Squire, Nysa, had never been exceptional in the arts, save for the ability to write out wonderfully droll documents. Helping shape the gardens at his wonder into the beautiful sight it had become was perhaps the most artistic thing he had done. It was something he was proud of. "Racers, take your mark!" an official shouted out. Turning towards where the racers were being guided towards, Nysa looked over the waters, his one weaker eye squinting a bit at the waters. Do your best and be sure to go home to Anna with a wonderful story.Word Count: 338

Just keep swimming!!! Kailash denies the need for floaties Now, it wasn't that his planet completely lacked water nor did it mean that he couldn't swim. But it was never said that the planet Uranus was known for such a resource to allow one to train and regularly swim. There was enough to really just keep the population alive, fresh and clean without having to import their whole stock and make it precious. He had Earth to thank for the remedial lessons, and perhaps some of the other more water based planets like Neptune that he visited during his training prior to obtaining the Page rank. So when Kailash decided he was going to try for these swimming events, he chose the shortest ones because then he wouldn't have endure it for too long and with the shorter distance meant the fastest speeds which was really what the knights of Uranus were all about - even though, he was not often up to par but it should at least count for something against the other knights. Upon getting to the pool, like with any event, Kailash found himself first at the warm-up pool like everyone else. It was a chance to stretch his muscles and partly, to make sure he still knew how to even swim. Like riding a bike, right? Partly true. There was a struggle at first to get the proper stroke in order but after a few laps the green haired Page was able to find himself in the zone, nice natural strokes and a good pace to compete - and hopefully not be laughable at the events, thankfully he hadn't chosen the butterfly or that would have been dreadful. There was always that nasty pride coming up, the need to do well. And finally his chance was up. After wading a bit in one pool, the call for his heat came up and Kailash pulled himself up and out to head to the other. Now was his chance to prove himself, one stroke at a time. First he'd have to get on the block. And next, into the pool. word count: 344

EXTRA TICKET RP POST
Swimming. It was one of the few games at the Olympics that Bimini didn't find completely offensive. It was relaxing and pleasant really! Or course, he also probably wasn't in it as exhuberently and competitively as some of the other competiters. Races.. bah. Sychronized swimming was probably more his style. You know.. if he'd had a team to practice with and had put the effort into it ahead of time.
Both his home wonder and his weapon had to do with water and it's beautiful calming and refreshing tendencies. In a way he almost felt like he had a connection with the liquid, deep down in his soul. It engulfed you in such a comforting way. It was a giver of life. And it REALLY matched his uniform too. It was in fact, like the most absolutely perfect accessory to his fabulously stylish bathing suit.
His swimsuit was quite a bit like his uniform. Primarily a soft blue color practically BATHED in sparkles with some small white trim. The wing and star symbol of his princess was small be present. Where his uniform was a little more.. billowy and runway chic, his suit now was fitted, which was a little more suited for a compeition thankfully. Mikael's precious hair was tucked safely away beneath a swimcap, unwilling to risk damaging it on the off chance there was anything funny in the pool. Chemicals... strange funk from some of the more ruffian knights. God forbid someone actually peed in the pool. Mikael shuddered momentarily at the thought before trying to push the thought away from his mind.
Hopefully the pool was clean, otherwise he'd have to worry about some skin treatment afterwards. They had milk on this star right? A nice soothing milk bath did wonders to skin that had been ravaged.
Sliding into the pool finally Bimini nodded pleasantly at the temperature of the water and how clean it felt. It felt like a spring or the waters back home. Clear of impurities. Yeah, this would be alright. Heck, maybe he'd even be able to win something. Or at least look like he was trying.

For Signe, Disposable Page of Jupiter
TICKET: Just keep swimming!!!
---
EXTRA TICKET RP
The page of Jupiter swam with all of her fierce heart, as though sheer determination could force the water back and propel her into the lead. She had never backed down from a challenge, and this particular event certainly qualified. She had learned to swim as a survival tactic and nothing more. The water was not her ally. Yet she sought now to master it, if only a little while, to prove herself and to win honor for Jupiter. She tapped the wall after the first length of the pool and spun around as quickly as she could. But she already felt her lungs burning and the trip back to the starting point was far, far harder than the first length had been. By the time she emerged from the pool, she was dripping wet and panting hard. She had done her best… but would it be enough?
Signe watched the swimmers line up for the next race, and she folded her arms over her chest as she waited for the next heat. Her short hair did not take much drying, so she wrapped the offered towel around her body instead and suppressed her shivering as best she could. Swimsuits were not her preferred clothing. They were flimsy, necessary garments, but she missed the warmth of her thick tunic, the tickle of fur on her skin. Soon, she promised herself, soon she would go and change, or maybe go wait in the warming pool should she be awarded another heat. But she couldn’t leave yet. Not until she saw her competition.
Maybe she would make it to the finals, but after seeing the more lithe knights she doubted it. Some of them seemed to not even swim but more fly across the water as they moved, navigating an environment that she had little familiarity with. They obviously did. They had mastered the element, surrounded themselves with it, become one with it in a way that she never could. Still, she held her head high and looked straight at the other knights that exited the pool. They had all swam well, and regardless of what the scores said, regardless of whether they ended up winning a medal, they deserved her respect.

Elis never, ever went swimming on Jupiter.
Granted, he had not been at his post for very long, so it could just have been that he hadn’t had much of an opportunity. He was much too busy drinking learning the ropes and feasting trying his hand at whatever random, mostly harmless bout of Chaos-fighting that happened to occasionally crop up here and there. His duties kept him busy and his page, squire, and knight companions kept him busier still. There always seemed to be something worthy of a celebration, or an event (pointless as it might truly be) that required a toast and a pint of ale.
Yet even if he’d had the opportunity, Elis didn’t think he would have had the stomach for any swimming. Anyone who went swimming on Jupiter was either extremely brave or had a death wish (or both), what with all the storms. The lightning was quite deadly. Even still wet behind the ears as he was, Elis had already witnessed two men be struck by it during an evening of drunken revelry.
It hadn’t been a pretty sight.
That wasn’t to say swimming there was impossible (there were large indoor baths, though they were also public and Elis did his best not to get in anyone’s way in them, seeing as many of his companions were larger than he was either in height or girth), or that such things couldn’t be done on some of Jupiter’s moons (which Elis had yet to visit), or that he hadn’t ever swam before taking his place on Jupiter when he’d lived on Earth.
The point was he just wasn’t very good at it (he wasn’t very good at a lot of things, truth be told), but he would try his best to achieve victory for his princess… aaaannd to save face around the rest of the Jovian knights, who he assumed looked at him as something sort of pathetic.
So it was that Elis dove (perhaps a bit too spiritedly) into the pool with a loud, echoing shout of “For Jupiter!” when the gun shot to start the race—with the result that he met the water in the midst of an ungraceful belly-flop that forced the air from his lungs and left him spluttering.
It was only through sheer will (and a great deal of embarrassment) that Elis managed to speed forward at all.

EXTRA TICKET SOLO
Swimming was not something Iseult had planned to compete in, but then, she did want so badly to try, at least, at everything. Her heart was racing as she stood by the edge of the pool. As she understood it, her long hair was likely a hindrance to good performance. She had taken it out of its beribboned, over the shoulder braid and put it in a simpler, tighter one down her back, so as to minimize it getting in her way. Her swimsuit was a practical one-piece in the greens and browns and gold of Earth, and decorated with her beloved planet’s symbol. She certainly felt like she was representing her planet like this!
She was bouncing on her toes as she waited. Ever the enthusiastic one, even in events she wasn’t sure she’d do well at. At least she was from Earth, which had beaches and places to swim of its own, and not some mostly-waterless world where she would have little time to practice! She loved to swim, and did it fairly often when she had a break from her training as a Page. Such a lovely way to relax.
And most importantly, most critically of all, she would have tried. She would have attempted the event, and didn’t that say a lot about her, even if she didn’t do well?
Unless she did absolutely horribly. Oh goodness, there they were, doubts and nerves slowly clawing up to eat away at her enthusiasm. But…but she wouldn’t do horribly. That wasn’t possible, because she was a decent swimmer, and she wouldn’t be flailing around like a drowning animal. She would be swimming, and even if she didn’t win first or second or even third she would have done her absolute best.
That, Iseult decided, was what was important, that she did her very best in every event. The hyperactive Page was back to bouncing on her feet, waiting excitedly for that horn to go off so that she could launch forward into the water and make everyone proud.
The gun went off, and Iseult leapt in with a whoop.
It was time to show them all how great she could be!
