He could hardly recall any of his previous life before becoming a weapon, but there was something about this "Dis" that seemed oddly familiar. There was a sense of nostalgia that surrounded him, as though they had met before - but for the life of him, Jinhai could not remember. It was as though he were trying to remember a dream, grasp the fragments that were left over, but they were slipping through his fingers until there was nothing left.
"I like to believe I've been successful as well," he replied, as though his mind were not in turmoil. "Gale was the youngest trainee to become a hunter, after all, and one of the first to be promoted. I'd say I was rather fortunate in my choice."
Stopping at the top of the stairs, he cast a glance towards Dis, his eyes flickering to the dark hair, the pointed ears, the steady smirk on his face and the glowing red eyes. Jinhai tried desperately to remember them, to find some sort of recognition that would make him understand the strange feeling of remembrance, but all he could get was tinges, faint twinges.
It was frustrating.
He glanced at Dis' outstretched hand and rolled his eyes, but he took it anyway, taking a step down - and promptly stumbled on the last step, colliding into the vampire's chest. He looked up at him, his gaze steady, and lifted a brow, no embarrassment evident on his face, only mild exasperation and curiosity.
"I think you've already lost. I have no cracks."

Dis wasn't sure what to make of Jinhai. He was familiar in a way he couldn't place, and he wasn't reacting like the others. It was to him, confusing. "Gale is... a prodigy in a sense. You were fortunate and if I dare say, skilled yourself. A hunter is as only as good as his weapon hm?" And to Dis, Jinhai looked very good indeed.
As Jinhai fell into his chest, Dis smirked. "Perhaps not. But I will try in any event."
Embracing Jinhai was oddly lacking in hands moving to where Dis might have normally reached. It was the action of holding someone that felt strangelyy comforting, and slowly, he was curling his face into the dragon's neck. "Tis a pity we are made of earth and clay. I would have liked to taste you." He sighed, pulling back. "I think I like you Jinhai."

Jinhai cracked a smile. "A prodigy, yes. Obnoxious sometimes, and a brat, but a prodigy nonetheless. He's a good kid. He'll go far."
He didn't move away as Dis leaned closer, the vampire's face against his neck, and Jinhai's brows drew together, fragmented thoughts still drifting about in his mind. He made no effort to push him off, but he also didn't grasp him back, instead standing still and letting the other curl into him.
This is all a lie, isn't it?
Everything around me is a lie.
He closed his eyes, and exhaled slowly. Where was the order, the straightforwardness now? He had always liked things to be neat and in place, and now when he most wanted them to be, everything was scattered and confusing.
He disliked not knowing things.
Jinhai arched one dark eyebrow. "You like me?" he asked lightly, and leaned his head back to look the vampire in the eyes, an amused expression on his face. "But you hardly know me."
...or do you? Why can't I remember anything?

Dis had no doubts about what Jinhai said. It might have been simply Marcus's thought on Gale that gave the vampire a bit of respect, but it was likely more the fact Jinhai seemed to have something. A certain conviction that let belief in him all the easier.
"Mhm, I like you, even if you smell of earth. And no.. I do not know you well, but I cannot help myself." Fangs brushed against skin for breif moment. "You are.. something I cannot place, but I enjoy it in part. Like something of a memory but..." He sighed pulling away. "I have not wanted to know a weapon before, but something about you makes me want to know. Like there is something missing from what I see that I do not know." Pulling away, he led the dragon towards the doors.
"I am not sure if I'm making all that much sense and I apologize if I'm not, this is simply a.. queer feeling I am having."

"You can't help yourself."
The statement was flatly amused, Jinhai again not moving away as he felt Dis' head drop back down, fangs against his neck as he spoke. Jinhai had long since grown used to the teasing that came from Gale, and he held a dry sort of amusement for the vampire that seemed...nostalgic, somehow.
"Everything is missing," he said quietly, and let the vampire lead him towards the doors, frowning a little.
"Where are we going, exactly?"

He smiled faintly. "I cannot." He lead the dragon to the door outside, with a shrug. "I do not know where we are going, only that we are moving, which satisfies me just fine. Not to mention it gives my Marcus and your Gale time without worry. He's been.. fussing since I 'woke up' as it were."
The wind and air were warm, and the smell of salt water was faint. The last parts of construction were present and the sight of other weapons and hunters could be seen here and there.
"I wondered for a time, if the sacrifice of my past was worth the power I have gained." He looked as his hand, the black nails reflecting what little light there was. He squint as he looked up to the fog and clouds before shaking his head.
"I feel no regret, only like I have lost a few things that were precious to me. But with you, I wonder again, what is it I have truly lost."

"Moving is good," said Jinhai agreeably. "Moving means that...we can. Moving means we are able to move freely."
His voice had dropped down to where it was quiet, a soft, bittersweet expression on the dragon's face as he slowed to a stop. It seemed he was lost in thought for a few moments, but he dragged himself out with a little shake of his head, glancing over at the vampire.
"Gale will keep Marcus occupied," he said lightly. "They are good friends, after all - at least, I like to think so. That will give us time to ourselves."
It was nice outside. Jinhai closed his eyes, letting the scent of the water fill his senses. A breeze ruffled through his dark hair, and he lifted a hand, absently twisting a few stray strands around his fingers as he looked over at the vampire.
"We make sacrifices not because they are worth it in the beginning, but because they are worth it in the end," he murmured, eyes flickering. "I can't remember what I've lost - which I suppose is part of the sacrifice, and sometimes I wonder who I've lost along the way."
He gave a small, noncommittal shrug. "Perhaps you are one of them. Perhaps not. I'm not certain if we'll ever really know, now, will we?"

"They are good friends. At least from Marcus's view. Even if he's a bit blunt at times he means to do well and help as he can. If he's any good at it?" Dis shrugged. "It's difficult to say." Marcus would do as he willed when it came to those he considered friends.
"Marcus was worth some sacrifice yes but... I must admit, I've never quite been bothered by it before." Holding a hand up to block a sudden rush of light, the vampire motioned towards the sea. "It would explain why I feel different about you if we had.. known each other before. But who's to say. Unlike our hunters, I get the inkling those in charge would not care for our origins so much. You certainly don't strike me as the type of boil to have been my lover at the very least." He said it plainly. Jinhai didn't strike him as the type to have been such.
Looking back to the building, he half wondered if they should remain near but, the beach seemed like a nice place he'd yet to visit. "I will be glad at least, to know that someone who holds value to my Marcus is partners with someone like you."

The expression on Jinhai's face softened a little. "Marcus looks out for Gale," he said. "He is kind, and a good man. I trust him to make the right decisions - though admittedly I don't know him as well as you do."
He started walking towards the beach with Dis, frustration welling in the pit of his stomach. His eyes flickered towards the vampire, tracing his features, and despite the fact that he could not figure out who he was or whether or not they had been previously acquainted, he could agree with the sentiment that he did not feel as though they would have been lovers. A relief in one way, but a disappointment in another, since it meant he was left with more loose ends.
"Yes, well," said Jinhai, a little dryly. "You seem the type to have had more than one lover - many, or at least attempted to have many, so there is that at least."
The beach was windy and smelled of salt and sand. Jinhai closed his eyes briefly and inhaled, letting it fill the nonexistent lungs, letting it wash over him, and then turned to face Dis, a small smile on his face as he stepped towards him.
"Thank you," he said honestly, and reached out, his fingers curling lightly into the vampire's shirtfront. "Underneath all that brashness, there is something...interesting about you."
He leaned forward, pulling Dis down, and pressed his lips to his briefly, in a light kiss. The sensation felt - well, he wasn't sure, exactly. Nostalgic? Familiar? He pulled away.
"Well, even if we weren't lovers, I have the distinct impression that if we knew each other, you would be the type to be thoroughly exasperating," said Jinhai, a smirk on his face as he let go of Dis and turned to look out at the sea.

A smile, Dis looked again to the building. "Hrm, but that is the case with every hunter but our own. We know only as much as our chosen and we know our chosen perhaps as well as we know ourselves." He stopped for a moment before sighing. "Ah, but then I wonder, with things missing from us, do we miss things of our hunters? Granted Marcus is terrible at keeping secrets from me but that does make a man wonder."
Jinhai's eyes on him didn't go unnoticed, and Dis fought the urge to pose or attempt to show off. Jinhai was not likely to react to him, so it was a pointless endeavor on that part. It brought a smile, less, perverted, more sincere. " I think it was a bit of both really. How many lovers I had and how many I attempted. I have enough of a memory to know that I had quite a few successful overtures, but with who... I do not know. That is sadly, something I would have valued." The slightest twinge of sadness in his voice. He lacked memories of people, of his past, and now that he was able to think on it, he didn't know what to think of it.
The touch from Jinhai snapped him of these thoughts, mild shocked he was on the receiving end of touch this time. "Behind your calm exterior I am sure there is something I've yet to discover. But I will-" The kiss cut him off, and the vampire relaxed into the soft press of lips. It was good. It was not the feeling of lust or mockery, it was something softer, a thing he knew he could define but not with words. The faint smell of citrus and spice, just for a second as the dragon pulled away.
What had they been, he didn't know. Not lovers, but something. Something that was strong enough to make him regret the loss. To make him upset that a dragon did not smell of citrus and spice. A phantom memory, half missing.
"I think we might have known each other but what we were, is something I do not know." The sea was still a ways away but, "I am exasperating, it's a part of my charm." He chuckled beginning his walk to the ocean.
Marcus however, was sitting by the window, watching the whole thing, Gale just across from him. The whole thing including the kiss. The hunter sighed, rubbed his head and began a small string of apologies to Gale, mostly going on about how Dis probably conned Jinhai into it.

"What people value is of little concern to anyone else," said Jinhai simply. "What you value is different from what I value - or, at least, I would assume so - but it does not make it any less important." He gave a small shrug, idly twisting a braid again. "I can't tell you what to value, just as you can't tell me what to value."
His voice grew softer, more pain stricken, though he tried to hide it, hide the feelings of frustration, of breaking away from his neat and tidy little world that had long since been broken. "Though I've clearly lost what it is that I value myself."
The wind tousled his hair, and Jinhai turned away from Dis, inhaling slowly. He wished the body was not made of clay - he wished he had what he had had before. An odd longing that he had never before had was pulling at his chest, making him uncomfortably and suddenly aware of just how much he was missing.
"Yes, well," said Jinhai, still trying to keep his voice light as he stared out at the ocean. "I'm under the distinct impression that we perhaps knew each other once, but even if we didn't...it's nice to have someone to relate to, I suppose."
A snort escaped his lips. "And what charm is that, might I ask?"
Meanwhile, up by the window, Gale was just staring blankly down at Jinhai and Dis and wondering why he had thought they could behave themselves again.

"I value things that... might surprise. Marcus thinks like many, that sex is my only goal but, that is the illusion I have created for myself. An illusion that works well until I run into one like yourself." Reaching out to the dragon, Dis ran his fingers through the dragon's hair, stopping to brush a few strands behind an ear.
"Maybe not completely lost Jinhai. Perhaps we have lost some things we value, but we have gained other things in it's place." He smiled, something sincere in his eyes. "I have my Marcus now, and I am not ready give him up. I would assume you feel the same way towards Gale. We have lost a great many things, but... I will hold that what we have gained is just as equal in worth. It is how I shall find peace with myself"
It was confusing, and not exactly easy, and overall, Dis was sad but he would find his own happiness in other ways. "And my charm is sadly ineffective with you. But I assure you, it works most of the time." he chuckled. "Most of the time. With you I'll just have to learn a different approach."
Marcus was drawing the conclusion that bringing weapons out was indeed, a horrible idea.

Jinhai lifted a brow. "Sex isn't your only goal?" he asked, in mock surprise, tucking one hand into the sleeve of the other and settling them against his stomach. "Well, color me surprised. You could have fooled me."
But his voice was gently teasing, and his expression softened at the touch to his hair. Jinhai turned his head, touching his nose to the palm of the vampire's hand and inhaled slowly, as though expecting something, as though searching for an answer, any answer, something.
But all he smelled was clay. Clay, and earth. He opened his eyes, a distraught expression on his face, his fingers lightly holding Dis' hand in place.
"I am no stranger to illusions," he said quietly. "You cannot fool me with yours."
With a sigh, he let go and turned away, letting a few stray strands of black hair flutter free across his cheeks. The wind felt nice on his face - or the face of the golem, rather.
"You are right. I have my Gale. He is what I will live for now, since I have lost everything else, despite the fact..."
Despite the fact that it was my choice in the first place. Jinhai turned his head to give the vampire a smirk.
"Have fun trying to figure out that approach."
Meanwhile Gale was beginning to agree with Marcus.

Dis laughed. It was nice to be able to joke about his motivations and goals with someone who was simply not blowing up at him over his actions and words.
The breath, Dis resisted the urge to pinch the nose so close to his hands. "I do not think I wish to fool you." As Jinhai pulled away, Dis frowned. He missed his body, and wondered how things might have been had they true bodies. Not the false ones they currently inhabited. "But I am sorry that I must." This body was not his own. His body was with Marcus, the weapon's form separate from his mind. An odd notion if he thought about it.
"You have not lost yourself, who you are." He breathed in the air, enjoying the smell of the ocean, something natural. His body or not, this was a time to be enjoyed.
"But, I chose my fate, and I accept it. As for my approach..." He shrugged. "This way seems to be working well so far."

"Don't fool me," said Jinhai, a bit dryly. "I much prefer people who are honest over people who are dishonest, after all. And lying is such a tedious habit to keep track of."
He wasn't certain why he had said that last part, but it almost seemed...personal, somehow, as though he had said it before - but not to someone else.
To himself. Had he been lying to himself in the past? He couldn't even tell anymore.
"I've lost much," said Jinhai, giving a bittersweet smile. "And I don't even remember what it is."
He eyed the vampire. "Whatever works for you, then. Works for me."
