Geez, and after they finally had the place al together from the last big disaster. Well, it wasn't like Otto had to deal with it much. He was stuck in bed. A blessing and a curse. He didn't give a s**t about the towns. He thought them useless. Why bother with a house, anyway? It was dumb. Those people were all dumb. Gale was dumb.

H feeding the birds. Knowing the island's track record for any sort of invasion, a dove invasion would be no less horrifying. Especially if the Doctor was involved. Scary sunnuva b***h. The image of his blood covered hands flashed in his mind. He shuddered.

He didn't want to know what had happened during surgery.

Otto made a small noise of discontent as he was pushed lightly. Why did he have to move? With another groan, he shuffled over to the side.

Without fanfare, Clerise hoisted herself onto the bed. She didn't slide underneath the sheets with the teen, not to give him the wrong idea. But he had spent a week and some change in isolation, trapped in a weird-imaginary world that he refused to talk about.

Not that she asked. Clerise wasn't even sure if she wanted to know; to extract that sort of information now would be making him relive it. The redhead was no psychiatrist, but she figured that if she'd gone through some freaky Hell, she'd just...

She'd just want to forget.

Unfortunately, words were not her strong suit, not really. Sure, she could talk, but it was a lot of ambling and rambling and--

It was a roundabout way, if anyone ever got her at all. So instead, Clerise resolved that she would comfort him in the way she knew how. Winding an arm around him, the acrobat spooned Otto, her space in his, a presence that would hopefully be warm and comforting.

"Sorry, Prodigy, but I'm never the little spoon."

If this had happened any time before his capture, there'd have been a lot of sass, or bitching about Clerise getting in his personal space. But Otto was tired, timid, and in some need of comfort. He was tense for a moment as she slid beside him, much like a cornered animal.

A moment passed and he relaxed. He wouldn't admit it, never in a million years, but he liked this. It was warm, comforting, and settled his nerves.

He made no noise of protest, no bratty comeback.

Likely he'd fall asleep in due time. That's how comfortable he was.

Clerise idly let her hand wander upwards, carding her fingers through Otto's hair, setting a slow, steady rhythm. She lightly scritched his scalp, massaging it. With her other arm, Clerise kept her grip on Otto loose-- so he wouldn't feel ensnared, trapped.

Hopefully, Sunny wouldn't invade soon.

Humming softly, a thrumming in her chest, Clerise let Otto get used to her presence. "I'll take first watch," she murmured, red lips curved upwards in a private smile.

If he slept, she'd watch over him, nodding off after a while herself, pressing her face to the back of the blond's neck, content. She couldn't fix him-- couldn't fix anything, trauma took time and more than she could give--

But she could help.

Otto's nerves continued to rebel, every instinct telling him to run. So many nightmares had nearly ruined him, making him unable to relax for a long while. Clerise's soft but steady and persistant presence slowly eased him to calm down and relax.

He fought sleep much like a stubborn child, but much like before excepted the presence of Clerise and the soft luring of slumber. Her humming and spoken reassurance lulled him to close his eyes. There was no monster behind him. No dark evil waiting for him to let his guard down. Just a kind and caring friend who wanted him to feel better.

And he did. Just a little bit, but he did. Not that he'd admit it right away.

His heartbeat soon slowed to a steady thumping as sleep took him, his breathing following suit.
