A shield? That sounded nice to have around. His weapon was sounding a bit more useful than he first thought. When she mentioned Mist, he snapped his fingers as he tried to remember. "Right. There is Mist, ...Moon, Sun, Life anddd...Death." It was like studying for a brand new curriculum, and he was still cracking open the textbook. "They have me in Life. No massive weapon. Just some type of gun." He didn't want to bring out Saliva to show her unless he was asked. The girl was abrasive and even more chatty when she was let out. This wasn't a conversation for her either.

Scooting just a bit more, he looked at her weapon which seemed far more impressive than his own. Not a gun, but a arrow. It all made him think of hunting.

"I'm still learning the classes. Can other people hold your weapon?" He wasn't sure if someone would get shocked or hurt if he passed his around or held another.

"I don't think anyone has ever asked to," Syd said, frowning slightly. "It makes me believe that that would be a no," she decided. "In fact, I have to admit, the idea of someone else holding Izy makes me feel somewhat uneasy."

She unsummoned him, slipping the choker back on. "Tell me," she said, looking curious, "is there anything I can do that might help you feel more comfortable in your new work? I owe you, and I honestly think that we could become friends easily. I would be happy to help in any way I can."

"Good to know." He didn't want any sort of social mistake or just getting harmed in any way by touching another weapon. Considering Sydney didn't want anyone touching her own weapon and no one had bothered to ask, he guessed it was more of a personal choice. If someone was used to keep you alive and could hurt you if harmed, it probably almost meant it was for security reasons and safety. He'd have to remember not to let other people hold Saliva, only to avoid any problems.

"You don't really owe me. I don't think anyone would want someone to be butchered alive in front of them or burned by lava." It was more that he didn't want to be left for dead if he was ever in that situation, and with what little he knew, he'd feel that it might happen in another mission.

"I guess since you know a lot about your own weapon, if I could get more advice on my own or find someone else who has a gun for a weapon. That is when you're done resting. I don't know how often everyone gets a mission, but I don't want to be killed."

"Ah, so your weapon is a gun?" she asked, smiling now. "Welcome to the long range fighters, then," she told him happily. "We come in handy far more than you'd think. Have you been to the training fields? There's several dummies that are perfect for working on your aim with. You might also try out the training courses--they'll help teach you to keep a level head when in a fight--although they can get a little... troublesome. But there's hunters watching if you find yourself in a bind, or knocked out."

The secret was out. Syd actually enjoyed her job.

"I noticed it on the map. I still have to check it out. There are a few places I haven't been yet." He still had to check out things like the labs and the grounds better than what he'd seen. "I've just visited the basic places. The cafeteria, showers, and dorms. I didn't know we had training courses." It was nice to hear there would be a sort of instructor on duty to oversea training and make sure everything was safe. A class on using his gun would be nice.

"I'll have to find where those are when I can." Mainly so he knew what he was doing during missions. "Also, do you have to know who everyone is in each department when going into a mission? I was told to be behind the Moons and had to find out who was who. Do you just look at their jackets?" He really didn't want to be an idiot next time and get in anyone's way when weapons were being throw around in all directions.

"Jackets," she said quickly. "Absolutely use the jackets. I still don't know that many people, actually," she admitted. "But the symbols are easy enough to understand. This swirl on my jacket means I'm a mist, the branches on yours mean life, the sun means sun, and moon means moon. Moons are the real defense of the Hunters. I pride myself on my mooning," had she seriously just said that? Izy was cracking up in the back of her mind.

"Er--not the act of pulling my pants down, of course. I mean my defensive abilities." Yes, now she was slightly pink. Whoops.

Izy hooted.

It was good that everyone else was using the jacket trick, which made him feel better about not knowing anyone in order to know their division. Now if only people didn't get so upset when he checked out their jackets, he'd be set. For now, he was glad to know at least one person by name, and smiled when she flustered.

"Not a good defense to do that." He teased, before he checked his pockets and pulled out his cell phone. "If it's alright with you, can I have your phone number to meet up again? I think these phones have text messaging? Unless there is a better way to get in contact with you?"

"Of course," she said, rattling off her number for him before going on. "You can also text me. And there's a function that's somewhat like twitter from... well, before the island. You just need to push the button at the bottom right," she explained. "I don't often use it," she admitted. "Unless I'm... indisposed."

Basically she was really good at drunk twittering. And that was about it. "But its a good way to get a feel of the general hunter disposition." Or just the pissed off and or drunk ones, as far as she could tell.

She quickly rattled off the numbers, and he entered them into a contacts list that was established on the phone, and felt a bit less alienated with SOMEONE in there. It was progress. "I'm surprised they have a social website for hunters here." Then again, they were all human and they needed something.

"I was trying to set up my computer but it seems it died when I was asleep. Is there tech support here?" He tried the bottom right button and noticed the page come up, asking for him to register. Oh, that seemed basic and easy.

"You're going to have to meet Dwight," she said with a sigh. "But for a computer you might want to wait a few months. It's going to cost." Then she proceeded to teach him all the things she had learned--especially about jobs that offered spare cash.

It would probably take a while.

It was a good experience, and while he tried to keep notes, he at least had a direction on where to go. While she unloaded what she knew, he also knew he was pushing things by making a recovering woman go into detail in one straight go with what was clearly a lot of information for one place. He wouldn't remember it all, and it probably wasn't helping her any by sitting here when she probably had a prescription to rest.

When it seemed he had a better hold of this place than before she arrived, he rose up. "Thank you. I"ll keep that all in mind. Sorry for keeping you up saying all of this. If you need any help, you can - well you can call or tweet. I'll probably be using it to get a hang of things." He did like social networks. Texting over social contact had it's advantages.

"I'm glad I could help," she said with a smile as he escorted her to the door. "And feel free to do the same," she added. "I'm in room 138 if you even need to see someone face to face--or are looking for someone to have target practice with." With a slight nod she headed down the hall, to her room to get some much needed rest.
