Why hadn't she stopped him yet? Syrrin had been sure that she would have! The corner was looming overhead and yet no sound from his little sister called out to stop him. Pausing at the corner and turning around to look at her he was surprised to see her laying down on the pathway. Was she really that hurt? Nah..she couldn't be..this was absurd, she'd been walking along just fine.
Still he couldn't really take the chance now could he? He'd be fussed at for sleeping sure but he'd be really fussed at if she was actually hurt and he didn't do anything about it. Muttering a few angry oaths he called out to her "Okay..just um..stay there then and I'll go fetch mom." Stupid sister...he'd intended to run off once he got out of sight, let her keep walking on home alone and then see that he hadn't gone to tell mom after all..but now she had to act even more hurt and leave him with no choice. Oh well. Snorting Syrrin turned back around and galloped off down the trail to actually fetch his mother.

Lapin lifted her head a bit to see what Syrrin was doing when he yelled out. Holy crap he was going to get her! Panic set in completely and Lapin decided she had had enough of this game. With Syrrin galloping off now was her chance to escape. If she ran hard and fast she could be gone before mom ever made it out there. Then Syrrin would get in extra trouble not only for getting her hurt and not watching her like he was supposed to but also for losing her after the fact. A moment of hesitation to make sure Syrrin wasn't pulling a final big bluff and Lapin was on her feet. Enough of this! All she had wanted was to play, this was not worth it!
Turning around Lapin raced down the path they had taken, her little legs flying as fast as she could run. Oh her head still hurt, but just a little bit. A good run should fix that! Plus she was getting away from being in trouble and resting. As long as Syrrin got in trouble everything would be worth it in the end. But first she needed to get away...far, far away! For she was not willing to slow down and certainly not willing to rest.
