She paused at the expression. She understood it, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to act like she didn't. Is your head filled with something we should know about that needs clearing?

Shun gave the mindflayer a flat stare.

Oh? She limped forward, folding her arms up against her and giving him a much more interested expression than he might have expected. You would be surprised. Try me. I'm not going anywhere for a while.

Furrowing his brow, Shun continued to stare at her with his one good eye. He hadn't known her to be nosy.
"Is there any particular reason why I should tell you?"

Because I'm here. She hissed quietly. And I asked.
Her hands unfolded, and she took in a deep breath. If you're worried I might spill some deep, dark secret about you, don't. I take privacy very seriously. And besides, I'm not sure if you looked in the mirror lately.. but you look like you could use someone to talk to.

The first answer didn't phase him much at all. Shun wasn't one to spill personal things to anyone just because they asked. As for her second answer, he thought it over some. He had talked to some people. However... given the state of Riley, she was at a different position than most of the people he did speak to.
"The one I care for most lost all memory recently. You could say I'm in a similar position to that of Malodore," he murmured quietly.
"It's more than a little stressful."

Shun's answer surprised her enough to silence her. She just stared for a moment, before her careful and collected expression fell to dismay. I am so sorry. She whispered. So sorry..
She pulled away, and limped closer to the tree she fell from. Did she suffer from the same ailment as me? Or is this a new tragedy unfolding?
She sounded genuinely concerned.

"No. It isn't insanity as far as I'm aware. She was a captive of the hunters for a time. My guess is that they've done something to her to cause it," he said quietly. Shun wasn't too willing to give too many details on the situation, but everything he said thus far was what people generally knew when they found out about it to begin with. Besides, Riley actually sounded concerned here.
The thought of the hunters doing something so terrible to her that she forgot everything pissed him off though. Just what the hell had they done to her?
"As it stands there isn't a whole lot I can do of it," he stated before looking back towards the monster dorms where she currently slept.

Memory loss as a result of captivity. Riley looked truly worried. You feel they've done something to her mind? She whispered. Her eyes flashed as an idea came to her. Do you want me to see her? Perhaps I can be of some help. I do have a unique skillset when it comes to the mind.
And a commonality when it came to memory loss, she left unsaid. It was there, hanging above them. Riley knew how hard it was - for both of them.

Shun's eye lit up for a moment at the suggestion. Now, he might not have known a great deal of the Illithid, but he was dealing with a telepath here. There was no questioning that.
"..You would do that?" he asked.
"I'll have to see if she would be willing as well. If you really mean this, I will try and talk her into it."
As much as he wanted help for her, he figured that someone probing around her mind without permission wouldn't really be a good thing.

The expression on Riley's face slowly lifted, and her eyes slit thin. Of course I would do that. We are fighting on the same side, Shun. Is that really so hard to believe? I want the same things you want. Perhaps I'm not as invested in Mitsu, specifically, but that doesn't mean I want hunters messing with my fellow students brains.
That was her job.
Speak with her. If you have trouble convincing her, I could always come speak with her as well, with the promise that I will not touch her mind without permission. She paused, and chuckled. Well, except to speak of course. Either way, make sure she understands how urgent this is. If there is a way to help.. we must try.

"No. I guess you could say I'm not quite as accustomed to receiving help like this as it is a little more of a personal affair. But... thank you. I will speak to her," Shun nodded while speaking quietly. He was grateful. And the fact that she promised to not probe without permission helped as well. While he had never received anything like that, he could imagine it wasn't a pleasant thing to have that against your will.

His answer was acceptable. But her brow furrowed in confusion regardless. And.. perhaps, in exchange, I could ask you something? Not a favor, unless the favor is simply honesty. I realize this may be somewhat of a surprise to you, but I have been thinking about you. Or, I should say, of something someone said about you.
She straightened her leg, and tried to put pressure on it - it felt much better, and allowed her to stand straight up. You know my situation. But I do not know yours. And quite frankly, the only thing I know about you right now is that someone, supposedly a dear friend from my past, warned me not to trust you. One brow cocked. You don't seem very dangerous to me. What reason could someone have for warning me about you?

Shun looked at her curiously. Honesty? Well he could do that. He wasn't really one to lie in most cases. Shifting his weight a bit, he waited to hear what it was she wanted to ask, but then quickly understood what the subject was about. Ah. Yes. That.
"To put it simply, I tried to kill you," he stated plainly, looking to her calmly. There was little reason to hide the fact, as far as he was concerned.
